As a rhythm gamer, hearing Andrew talking about their sourcing and hacking efforts hits too close to home lol. I will never understand why Japanese companies don’t just let us play their games 😭😭
They dont think we have the money to make porting it worthwhile, which is largely true. Fighting games, Mecha and Rhythm games in NA are largely niche, even with how dedicated their fans are. I do wish they'd change though.
There are not many people in the West who have the attention span and enough love for the franchise to justify bringing it over. This game is not simple/braindead enough for a major western audience- it is only niche at best.
@@spideysquestionablyusedcha5069 damn what does that say about me, ive been a fighting game, mech, and rythm game person for as long as i can remember . and im NA
Yep, just came back from Japan and couldn’t believe there were about 40 of these cabinets set up on the basement floor of an arcade in Akibahara, incredible!
15:54 Gundam's immense showing at New York Comic Con and Anime NYC last year is proof that there is definitely a sizable following in the US and I think I'd enjoy playing it a lot if it got a console or PC port- especially cause I tend to gravitate towards faster-paced games.
people will show up for cons, people will show up for gunpla meets, people will absolutely talk about it, and it will always have a huge following over the internet. a gundam game though? this isn't the first gundam game for pc or console and those have historically done bad in the west, the people who watch/talk/meet up over anime, people who build scale models, and people who play games are simply different demographics, and among those, the gundam fans who would play gundam games are in the minority i would say.
@@rzt430 If they did a decent job porting them over, (especially in a timely fashion) they likely wouldn't have such a horrible track record in the USA.
@rzt430 with the new armored core game coming out, if it does well, a similar style of gundam game would probably do well here too if it was made with the same quality since the game being good would be enough to entice people regardless of familiarity with the franchise
MBON was my gateway into Gundam, after having played Dissidia NT and I've been a fan ever since. The EXVS games are just a fun and unique experience that I wish more people would give a chance
As someone who loves this series so much he made a thesis of it back in uni, I am so happy to see a big creator on RUclips is covering it. Here's hoping this makes BAMCO more interested in bringing the series abroad!
@@gaemr_o5147 Arcades and how they are dead. I covered their history, business model, and decline. Japan was the exception for a while but even then things are starting to die down. EXVS was one of the things that extended the lifetime of arcades among other things as the cultural difference is present between JP and other countries. That said I chose to change the topic at the end since its going to be hard to fight for the topic in the final presentation. Was fun when it lasted though; a few weeks work gone but I enjoyed it.
@@gaemr_o5147 Dude you can make hundred page papers about literally anything, especially if you talk about it's roots, history, impact, data, and much more. My buddy wrote a 90+ page paper about Metal Gear Solid 2 and he got an A.
These games are so incredibly fun. So much depth, in team building, in movement (both individual movement tech *and* team positioning), resource management, team play etc. And that's not even talking about the different suit specific mechanics. The absolute gold standard all arena fighters should strive for.
There's a good reason why Kazunoko, a well-known FG Pro in JP, got very traumatized when jumping into the shark-infested, blood red waters that is the Gundam VS scene. There's a lot to learn. A LOT.
@@zaktak4380 Full Boost was released on PS3, and so it’s very playable through RPCS3. EXVS2’s arcade ROM is also playable on PC, but it requires much more…clandestine methods.
I'd drop a colony for a localised steam release. Great video man. I'd love to get back into Gundam versus, sunk a bunch of time into Maxi Boost during the Pandemic.
Yes... started playing EXVS MBON on PS4 almost 2 years ago. I had no idea the amount of depth behind it until I played against actual people. It is a hidden gem that I wish more people knew about. Thanks for posting.
Indeed. I'm in North America and only watched SEED and SEED Destiny. Then I noticed GvG Next in my local arcade center (and Rengou vs Zaft 2) and watch people played it. So, I attempted to download GvG Next into my Uncle's PSP (he already had RvZ inside), but I mistakenly installed GvG instead. but I played it nonetheless. and as I played through every char in the roster, I'm started to be interested in the franchises they originated (since I manage to noticed that there are 2 Amuros and 2 Chars). In short, if it weren't for the GvG franchise (currently Gundam Extreme vs), I wouldn't be the Gundam fan today (moderate, not hardcore)
Something worth noting is that this style of game is a genre itself, popularized by Virtual On in 1995. It's the root of games like, this, Dissidia, ARMS, Custom Robo, Senko no Ronde, and others, and probably helped inspire the anime arena genre too. The genre never grew in the west for whatever reason, but I'd love to see it get more appreciation. These kinds of games are really good, and it's a shame they're just kind of left unknown.
I agree, however, the far less flashy and slower Gundam vs Zeta Gundam for the PS2 with a decent single player campaign that I'm playing on my phone appeals a lot more to me than these recent iterations.
@@lan-kun-officialchannel8285 Agreed, though I must say that increasing the resolution with an emulator already makes for a decent HD look. Like I love the little details such as visible scorch marks from the backpack and certain space backgrounds.
this is so cool!! it's crazy how a game can be SO popular on one side of the world but practically unknown on the other. i loved the way andrew explained things, it was so informative and easy to understand! i hope more videos like this come out that shine a spotlight on unique games like this!!!
Thanks for picking Extreme VS 2 up! I have been playing this game in Akihabara for over 10 years , there is no doubt that it has the largest player population. I hope the day comes that I play with you across the sea. (preferably no lag)
This is truly inspiring work, I've picked up this game casually and my most viewed youtube video on my channel is a Maxi-boost On Texas showdown side tournament with horrible production. this video inspires me to move forward in organizing tournaments in the Texas region, many of the older TOs moved on with life responsibilities. thank you fro doing this
Andrew is fucking awesome I love it when he talks about Gundam and arcade games. nyone who didn't watch the video yet watch it right the heck now he gives a really good perspective on the game as a whole
I just came back from my trip to Tokyo and let me tell you: This game OWNS every Arcade place, there are even some Arcades having a dedicated floors to just this game and they are by far the most popular machines there. I spend so much cash on this game in Japan, mainly because I was getting my ass handed over every round. But loved every second of it, I just bought the PS4 version of the game and will try to learn it so next time I'm there I can keep up with these guys just a little bit.
I've been an EXVS player living in Japan for a long time. If there's a new game for home use, I'd like to play it too. with friends all over the world. But there are many difficult reasons why new releases are not released for home use. I'm using the translation function, so if it's a strange sentence, read it with feeling. ① Arcade and home use are different company departments ・"BANDAI NAMCO Amusement" is in charge of the arcade, and "Bandai Namco Entertainment" is in charge of home video games. Should I say different departments? That's why we can't ask each other, "Is it okay for our department to receive all of your department's sales?" Of course, we don't hate each other, and the feelings of creators who spread content are the same at any BANDAI NAMCO. ② Market monopoly The arcade industry is a pretty tough world in both good and bad ways. At the event "JAEPO 2023" held in Japan the other day to announce new arcade games, only BANDAI NAMCO has released new arcade makers (other makers have withdrawn) However, the number of arcades in Japan continues to decrease year by year, so I don't know how long I can keep fighting. However, EXVS sales are still overwhelming in arcade games, so I feel like I'm continuing. ③ Difficult to release on PC due to past failures (especially basic free) There used to be a PC game with the same game rules as EXVS. It's called "Rise of Incarnates". Of course the author is BANDAI NAMCO. But it didn't sell. Games back then were all gacha or P2W, and some people said the times were bad, but from BANDAI NAMCO's point of view, all that remains is the fact that they failed. And at game arcades, 1 credit (100 yen in Japanese money) generates continuous revenue. With MBON on PS4, only new products and DL versions generate revenue. If a customer plays EXVS at an arcade, even at a game center run by an ordinary owner, BANDAI NAMCO will definitely make a profit of 10 yen (9.9 yen to be exact) as a usage fee (the game center operated by BANDAI NAMCO will make a profit. profitable) As I wrote in the ②, the number of arcades has decreased compared to 20 years ago. There are various fees included in the 100 yen for one play. housing maintenance costs Communication costs and electricity costs on the game center side. However, when EXVSMB came out when there was no online match, the owners were angry because it came out for home use (EXVSFB). "It's not good to be able to play at home in the same way you can at the game arcade. I paid a lot of money for a new game." The minimum number of contracts is 4 cabinets and 1 monitor, and the cabinets are very expensive. That's why BANDAI NAMCO also promised the owner that they would stop releasing new titles and previous titles after the new titles were released. That's why there hasn't been a new game for home use for a few years, and MBON, which was two generations ago, was released on PS4, but in the early days, the worst cheetah that manipulated the boss character appeared, and the ranked match was broken for a while. When EXVSOB comes out, if a home version (EXVS2) comes out, the individual business will really collapse, and the PC version will be more easily problematic because of the existence of cheaters, so we can't release a new home version or PC version right away. is ☆Bandai Namco's financial statements are available online, so if you can read Japanese, please take a look. There is talk about the future Gundam brand on the "プレゼン資料" and "通期" of the "2022年3月期". I'm sorry I can't write the URL because it violates the rules. If you search for "バンダイナムコ 決算短信・説明会資料", it will appear (I wonder if Japanese is a search hit on overseas Google?) Also, the story about the EXVS2 emulator that appeared on bilibili in the middle of the video is censored in Japan due to Bandai Namco's copyright infringement, and the video and story are deleted, so it's not much of a topic. Expert players know of its existence, but... (whispers) I guess it's not a good feeling to be illegally playing games that we spent a lot of money on to support the series and tournaments. Some people are spending 100,000 yen (roughly $1000) a month. Even if you like the work, once the service is over, that's the end of it. EXVS is amazing in the sense of continuing monthly updates for over 10 years. This is really Of course home use is welcome, new fans are important!! Japan has a lot of entertainment, and especially games have a short season. Even if I want to love you, it often happens that you're not here anymore Personally, I can understand Bandai Namco's attitude, but I feel like I can't accept it... Fans, creators, and manufacturers have different things they see and want, so it can't be helped. Thank you for reading this far! Please continue to love the work called Gundam. I am we are his Gundam!!
we have a permanent MaxiBoost ON setup at my local esports venue. We have a list of burner accounts to run LAN on and people are always walking by and wanting to try
Yes *PLEASE* talk about this game! It's so unbelievably good and under the radar for the West. It's such a unique game that would look great on the main stage at EVO
There's an obscure game called Gotcha Force that's basically the same as Gundam VS because it was made by the same people. It's really hard to find legit, but not hard to find emulated. It's one of my favorite games on the GC, I've always been sad it never blew up, but GVS has been carrying the torch. It's crazy seeing the same animations and everything, lmao.
Japan still plays Gotcha force like crazy, you probably already know that, but yeah its one expensive game if you can find it that is, but yeah fun game for sure, a shame capcom forget they even made it, really needs a re-release.
Man i remember playing Rengou vs Zaft as a kid...really wish Bandai did more international work for their Gundam games cause most of them are great but lack publicity, even when they do eventually make an international port/release...resulting in inevitable obscureness that limits the game from reaching its potential
The series was more aimed for Japanese consumers, they usually don't bitch about the game. Few games gone to overseas. The PS2 ZGundam VS. game was crushed by IGN... they gave 3 or 4 score on their silly review. I own the game, 8 would be fair. Since western media like give low scores, that's reflect the sales and late will afect releasing other titles.
@@isamuominae nowadays you dont want to trust these "game journalists". community based rating is probably the best you can get, or you could just keep it to yourself. to begin with, exposing them with these media itself is a mistake anyways lol. look at them now
MBON was my introduction into Gundam back in 2020 with G Gundam being the first series I watched because of it. With Witch from Mercury introducing new people to the franchise, I hope EXVS will see more growth from its success. These games are just too much fun!
Finally a 2v2 based gundam game is being spotlighted by foreigners, Gundam EXVS series is a masterpiece since ZDX, the true legacy, and bunch of improvements and new contents were added on top, makes the most successful arcade game today, unfortunately the XB (and OB coming in summer) is only available in Japan.
竟然在這裡見到香港玩家的英文留言 ! ( Surprised to see a player from HK also commenting on a foreigner video with English ! ) I also would like to mention that GVGNP ( Gundam vs Gundam NEXT PLUS ) helped a lot to introduce people into the franchise. Even to this day it's still a great fighting game with a robust story mode !
This is a very well represented video of one of my favorite series. I have been playing this series since the PSP age. As a Gundam fan who born in Hong Kong and now living in the US, I appreciate how good is this video.
Bandai has tried to advertise this genre to NA. Gundam Versus (GVS). I am quite surprised that this game is not mentioned at all in this video. If you recalled, GVS was released back in 2017 with decent marketing. This game was ahead of its arcade counterpart (i.e. Maxiboost ON). Texture are done beautifully, all existing characters got moveset revamp. And most importantly, the introduction of a series of brand new Gundams (Gundam 00 season 1 Virtue, Gundam Kyrios, Thunderbolt's Full Armor Gundam and Psycho Zaku etc. This is the first time console get brand new gundams before aracde does) However the introduction of step dive machanic (The whole game is center around boost gauge control, adding a jump button back to the ground made pvp so painful to play) and the severe lack of content (Entire roster of Gundam Seed Destiny gone, Gundam 00 season 2 gone, God Gundam gone) left a bad taste on fans' mouth. Soon after release, GVS keeps getting update with paid Gundam Unit (around 6-7 USD a gundam). However the player base just isn't there to support this DLC business model. The game died way sooner than expected. The fail launch of GVS only make people want to play an aracade port even more, and we got it in 2020 with the release of Maxiboost ON. The community is happy and has been longing for the next port. For the port time, I think bandai will only think on porting a Gundam Extreme VS title when the current home console's life cycle is at its end, or it need some quick cash for some reasons. (but I doubt that after Elden Ring's success) We have Fullboost for PS3 in 2013, right before the release of PS4. Then we have Maxiboost ON for PS4 in 2020, right before the release of PS5. So I think the next one we will get might be in 2025 to 2026, when PS6 is announced (Hope I am wrong though) And the port need to be at least 2 version behind the latest one, otherwise Bandai are killing their own aracde revenue. Porting a gundam game has not been Bandai's priority since day 1. The most profitable is still selling model kits (Just look at how many Unicorn Gundam they can make with the same mould.) Bandai has been hard at work in bringing model kits and other gundam related product like Metal Build and Robot Tamashii to the NA market lately. I am glad that many of people around the world show interested in Gundam. This is one of the way to show Bandai the international market should be taken seriously. Then they might branched out and introduce different kinds of products (Like game) to us.
I never knew that Gundam Versus was their initial push. Why did they bother not even using the arcade font? Because not only is it generic but it looks like a different game from the series it's from
I just came back from a 16 day holiday in Japan. Even though I don't play Arcade style games, I have ALWAYS wanted to check out a full sized Arcade in Japan. I went in expecting the fighting games you mentioned but was actually blown away by this weird robot game with amazing speed and movement options that everyone seemed to be playing. Thanks for doing a video on it as I was very curious and would have loved if there was an option for us to play it overseas!
Before it went into the extreme vs, the franchise started as Gundam Federation vs Zeon and one of my absolute favorites, Gundam vs Zeta Gundam. Putting the Zeta Gundam's era up front, then you see what the pilots are doing in the one year war again, and change the timeline which further changes what can be done to the timeline further in the Zeta era. Fantastic game.
Oh my, this takes me back to the days when me and my big brother used to play Rengoku vs Zaft in the arcade whenever we got the chance. My main back then was Justice (I loved using Justice to the point of buying/building my first Gunpla because of my favoritism, hehe.). Dang, to think it's a hidden gem internationally, but by default super popular in Japan- thank you for the coverage of this!
I was in Shibuya 2 months ago and I went to an arcade where they had a seat with Gundam controls and 3 or 4 vertical tvs so you felt about as close as possible to being in a Gundam. I played it for 2 hours and it felt like 15 min. It was amazing
Many are hoping that a consumer version of the latest title will be rolled out in Japan as well! However, it seems to be difficult to do so due to multiple problems with copyrights and other issues. Outside of Japan, I believe you can also enjoy MB ON on PS4
this is the first time i’ve seen a video about this game. always wanted to know more about it after seeing it everywhere in japan. Amazing details and interviews in this vid!
It hurts that they called every mobile suit a "Gundam" Just in case to avoid confusion, a Gundam is a type of robot called a Mobile Suit. Other than that, pretty good review vid. Gundam Extreme Boost is so underrated. Hope this video might give this game series some exposure.
I speculate that one reason Bandai Namco isn't porting arcade releases as soon they come out is because of the relationship that they've built with arcade operators. I can imagine arcades getting upset if their game lost its exclusive-ness.
Well we do have 2 Gundam Vs games on the PS4 alone, made it back to the USA after a kind of test cost effective tittle was put on the SONY VITA in the west to see if it would be worth it. We proved in spades it would be. The second Vs game on the PS4 originally wasn't going to come to console at all. However, they were setting up a new one for the arcade due to the demand being high enough, so the currently last console tittle was ported from arcade after all. I myself have played every Gundam VS game that made it to the USA.
Thank you for the coverage! This series really deserves more love over here in west. People see it and go "ew arena fighter" and just assume it'll be of the same quality as certain other games, and don't give it a chance. Hopefully some curious eyes will see this and pick the game up. 🙏
been playing EXVS series since the first one(2011) and still discovered new in depth gameplay everyday I can only hope this game can reach more people it just had that much potential
"Gundam is EXTREMELY profitable" Gundam Evo: 💀 It's just absolutely mind-blowing how EXVS is still alive only in the arcade world despite the failure of gundam game that we got rn Evo be like "speedrunning through the grave" on being a carbon paper to OW. Like, who would've thought? LMAO
thank you for covering this series, the extreme vs really need more exposure due to it being so secluded since bamco really hate showing one of their best fighting game in the gundam genre, worse being they keep locking the newer and newer entry of the vs series in arcade only and its getting so annoying since we've been stuck on the same old game for so long now, bamco need to really just focus on console releases as it imo honestly will be better for the extreme vs series in both development and in term of popularity
I've been a gundam fan all my life. I hope we get these in the West more. Always love to see videos on gundam games in general and will definitely check those livestreams out. Here's hoping we get more of the versus games in the west especially for us pc people. I've always heard how great extreme versus was
I remember having maxi boost in select Indonesian arcades, these machines are popular and we have community and tournaments going on. Unfortunately Bamco had to follow suit from Sega's decision to discontinue arcade service to outside Japan.. Sega used to export some of their tcg/arcade hybrid games such as World Club Champion Football and Sangoku Wars and these are also highly popular in Indonesia, but as they discontinued support the community interest slowly died down..
Just a word, when in japan, play this game when the arcade is empty (like midday or so, where people are working, or students are at school.) last time I played, i stupidly played in a crowded arcade, and i got decimated under 2 minutes XDD
You should make a video on the pretty small but very interesting Kid Icarus Uprising competitive scene. While there are barely any tournaments, there is so much customization and skill expression that make it a blast to play.
Holy shit especially the movement, shot based gameplay, and team hp bar based on stats made me realize, this was the foundation for kid Icarus uprising multiplayer! I really miss that game 🥲
If I can fly with the Tanuki in this game then I think I'm probably pretty interested. I like how it's kind of a dogfighting game conceptually, though it's an arena fighter mechanically.
Played all (console, not arcade) except the last 2, oh and especially Extreme Vs Force for the PS Vita. It was my favorite PlayStation games to spend hours upon, my PlatStation 3 Slim, PlayStation Vita Slim and PlayStation 4 Pro served me well.
This is the greatest multiplayer fighting franchise in existence, and not only does the west sleep on it, but Bandai Namco fails to market it effectively. They've never given this series a true shot in the west, only a half-hearted attempt at one.
There was an arcade game from my childhood where you jumped into a booth, picked a mech (each with unique abilities), and piloted it like you would in a cockpit - with joysticks and buttons. It was a goddamn experience, and took many of my "legitimately acquired" Australian dollary-doos. I've been looking for a game with that sort of combat for like, 20 years. Are you telling me that Gundam released this nearly 15 years ago and just didn't tell anyone? :/
I 100% agree with this game having the "Tekken effect", because even if you have never played it before, it's very satisfying to play. It just feels cool all the time. Im a bit on the fence about the arcade exclusivity because I think it's cool to still have some international arcade mysteries in this modern age; but it's unfortunate that such a great game series is virtually unplayable for international fans. I know I would put hours into this if there was a more accessible scene for it around me.
I play maxiboost on, gundam vs ps4 version, GBO2 , Gundam Evolution they are all addictive and u can spend hours playing them, also played the dynasty warriors gundam reborn and that is one of my fav muso games oat
Yeap ever since the PS3 game we have been well behind, and that will only continue, gone are the days of getting a home port at least a year later, now its 10 years later lol.
I believe this style of game became popular with Cyber Trooper on the dreamcast and arcade, but the Gundam franchise was the perfect concept for it. First time I ever saw this game was at a Sega clud in Akihabara. Loved it so much I bought the Japanese version on ps3, the Gundam versus that was a recreation of the PS Vita game on ps4, and now Extreme Maxi Boost On. But overall I'm a huge gundam fan and have been since playing the fighting games on ps1.
I know I’m not the only one who waited for some Gundam content on this channel 😂 I’ve been watching the anime ever since it was part of Toonami. I recently played the CHIBI version of Gundam on the Switch and that thing is a lot of fun! Y’all should check it out.
This is why I love this channel, giving exposition to games and gaming culture that normally would not see or hear about otherwise, thank you for this video!
The GOAT Redmufflerman making an appearance in this channel was something i did not expect, i didn't knew he knew this game but i guess i should've expected it lol
That old Gundam Battle Assault ost was really giving me flashbacks lol But seriously, after having vanilla exvs on ps3, vs force on vita (got the black gundam vs force vita), gundam vs ps4, then mbon on ps4, we really need more versus in the west. The audience is here, we just need to be acknowledged.
I love how there's not a single mention about EU, I'm happy this video will probably make the game a bit more popular but yeah fyi, this game has a very dedicated player base in EU as well
I love Gundam, so I was stoked when I saw one of these machines on my recent trip to Japan. I was excited to see my favorite, Shining Gundam, was playable. Got absolutely steamrolled. 10/10.
First time I saw anything of this franchise is at a local anime convention (NakaKon in Kansas City) this was set up in the game room and actually had a decent crowd around it. I keep getting screwed by the conundrum of "when it goes on sale, I don't have money" or else I'd get it.
I played this game ever since the ps2 era, the game is called Gundam Seed: Rengou vs. Z.A.F.T. and I played it with my friends in my childhood. Then I kept playing it as it went through the psp, ps3, and now the newest version for console which is MBON on ps4/ps5. I also went to the arcade to play the new version as well. This games holds a long history and is very well made as a game, really glad to see more people get into the touch.

It has pretty much become a norm for every arcade in Japan to have a floor dedicated to this game that's how big it is
Yep, just came back from Japan and couldn’t believe there were about 40 of these cabinets set up on the basement floor of an arcade in Akibahara, incredible!
@rzt430 with the new armored core game coming out, if it does well, a similar style of gundam game would probably do well here too if it was made with the same quality since the game being good would be enough to entice people regardless of familiarity with the franchise
wasnt maxiboost ported to ps4
MBON was my gateway into Gundam, after having played Dissidia NT and I've been a fan ever since. The EXVS games are just a fun and unique experience that I wish more people would give a chance
NT definitely paved the way for my skill in this game LOL
Dissidia should come back but only the 012 version, not the NT version

With the upcoming Armored Core 6, the mecha loving fans are eating well. I am waiting to see how crazy the competition is going to be in that game.

These games are so incredibly fun. So much depth, in team building, in movement (both individual movement tech *and* team positioning), resource management, team play etc. And that's not even talking about the different suit specific mechanics.
The absolute gold standard all arena fighters should strive for.
You forgot about the IA sometimes being funny
There's a good reason why Kazunoko, a well-known FG Pro in JP, got very traumatized when jumping into the shark-infested, blood red waters that is the Gundam VS scene.

As a Gundam fan I'm so glad that you and other people are talking about it more often. This game is fun af and I can't wait for exvs2.
I’m glad Gundam Extreme Versus is now getting the spotlight it really needs.
I agree, however, the far less flashy and slower Gundam vs Zeta Gundam for the PS2 with a decent single player campaign that I'm playing on my phone appeals a lot more to me than these recent iterations.
@@hughwest6808 Well if Bamco only remastered them, at least! I’d love to play those again!

This is a Gundam game that DEFINITELY needs more exposure in the west.💪
① Arcade and home use are different company departments
・"BANDAI NAMCO Amusement" is in charge of the arcade, and "Bandai Namco Entertainment" is in charge of home video games.
Should I say different departments?
That's why we can't ask each other, "Is it okay for our department to receive all of your department's sales?"
Of course, we don't hate each other, and the feelings of creators who spread content are the same at any BANDAI NAMCO.
② Market monopoly
The arcade industry is a pretty tough world in both good and bad ways. At the event "JAEPO 2023" held in Japan the other day to announce new arcade games, only BANDAI NAMCO has released new arcade makers (other makers have withdrawn)
However, the number of arcades in Japan continues to decrease year by year, so I don't know how long I can keep fighting.
However, EXVS sales are still overwhelming in arcade games, so I feel like I'm continuing.
③ Difficult to release on PC due to past failures (especially basic free)
There used to be a PC game with the same game rules as EXVS.
If a customer plays EXVS at an arcade, even at a game center run by an ordinary owner, BANDAI NAMCO will definitely make a profit of 10 yen (9.9 yen to be exact) as a usage fee (the game center operated by BANDAI NAMCO will make a profit. profitable)
As I wrote in the ②, the number of arcades has decreased compared to 20 years ago.
There are various fees included in the 100 yen for one play.
housing maintenance costs
Communication costs and electricity costs on the game center side.
However, when EXVSMB came out when there was no online match, the owners were angry because it came out for home use (EXVSFB). "It's not good to be able to play at home in the same way you can at the game arcade. I paid a lot of money for a new game."
The minimum number of contracts is 4 cabinets and 1 monitor, and the cabinets are very expensive.
When EXVSOB comes out, if a home version (EXVS2) comes out, the individual business will really collapse, and the PC version will be more easily problematic because of the existence of cheaters, so we can't release a new home version or PC version right away. is
☆Bandai Namco's financial statements are available online, so if you can read Japanese, please take a look.
There is talk about the future Gundam brand on the "プレゼン資料" and "通期" of the "2022年3月期".
I'm sorry I can't write the URL because it violates the rules.
If you search for "バンダイナムコ 決算短信・説明会資料", it will appear (I wonder if Japanese is a search hit on overseas Google?)
Also, the story about the EXVS2 emulator that appeared on bilibili in the middle of the video is censored in Japan due to Bandai Namco's copyright infringement, and the video and story are deleted, so it's not much of a topic.
Expert players know of its existence, but... (whispers)
I guess it's not a good feeling to be illegally playing games that we spent a lot of money on to support the series and tournaments.
Some people are spending 100,000 yen (roughly $1000) a month.
Even if you like the work, once the service is over, that's the end of it.
EXVS is amazing in the sense of continuing monthly updates for over 10 years.
This is really
Of course home use is welcome, new fans are important!!
Japan has a lot of entertainment, and especially games have a short season.
Even if I want to love you, it often happens that you're not here anymore
Personally, I can understand Bandai Namco's attitude, but I feel like I can't accept it...
Fans, creators, and manufacturers have different things they see and want, so it can't be helped.
Thank you for reading this far!
Please continue to love the work called Gundam.

Man i remember playing Rengou vs Zaft as a kid...really wish Bandai did more international work for their Gundam games cause most of them are great but lack publicity, even when they do eventually make an international port/release...resulting in inevitable obscureness that limits the game from reaching its potential
i dont get why they dont port it to steam either.
@@isamuominae nowadays you dont want to trust these "game journalists". community based rating is probably the best you can get, or you could just keep it to yourself. to begin with, exposing them with these media itself is a mistake anyways lol. look at them now
I remember when I was in Japan over a month ago, I saw a whole section of EXVS on the arcade machines in Round One. It was so cool.

I swear this game is so underrated, it's wild.
Finally a 2v2 based gundam game is being spotlighted by foreigners, Gundam EXVS series is a masterpiece since ZDX, the true legacy, and bunch of improvements and new contents were added on top, makes the most successful arcade game today, unfortunately the XB (and OB coming in summer) is only available in Japan.

its a very good fighting game, it combines shooting, movement and fighting. Tbh i want to see more games combine shooter and fighting.
Gonna be real, the Gundam Vs series is arguably one of the best, if not the best, Gundam game out there.
This is the first time console get brand new gundams before aracde does)
However the introduction of step dive machanic (The whole game is center around boost gauge control, adding a jump button back to the ground made pvp so painful to play) and the severe lack of content (Entire roster of Gundam Seed Destiny gone, Gundam 00 season 2 gone, God Gundam gone) left a bad taste on fans' mouth.
So I think the next one we will get might be in 2025 to 2026, when PS6 is announced (Hope I am wrong though)
And the port need to be at least 2 version behind the latest one, otherwise Bandai are killing their own aracde revenue.
Because not only is it generic but it looks like a different game from the series it's from
Versus just wasn't good there's a reason why maxi boost on is still played and that one isn't
We're never gonna get another arcade Gundam port the publishers are petty af and don't want people outside of Japan playing them

I remember importing this on PS3 way back then. I'm surprised it's this big. Mad fun game.

I myself have played every Gundam VS game that made it to the USA.
i love the series since PSP era, even in that version The movement is Smooth AF
Well Next Plus is one of the best in the series imo.

Thank you for the coverage! This series really deserves more love over here in west. People see it and go "ew arena fighter" and just assume it'll be of the same quality as certain other games, and don't give it a chance. Hopefully some curious eyes will see this and pick the game up. 🙏

thank you for covering this series, the extreme vs really need more exposure due to it being so secluded since bamco really hate showing one of their best fighting game in the gundam genre, worse being they keep locking the newer and newer entry of the vs series in arcade only and its getting so annoying since we've been stuck on the same old game for so long now, bamco need to really just focus on console releases as it imo honestly will be better for the extreme vs series in both development and in term of popularity
I’m live in Shinjuku. Gundam EXVS is most popular arcade game in japan.
Just an action game at first glance It's as strategic as lol.
My friends and I play MBON together every so often and always have a blast doing so. Such a fun and unique game with a vast cast to choose from!
Had no idea this game was a thing. I have to check it out
Gundam EXVS MBON goes on sale for less than $20 on PSN fairly often
I remember playing a version of this on PSP. I can definitely see why it has a competitive scene
It’s crazy popular. There are floors dedicated to just this arcade.
Sega used to export some of their tcg/arcade hybrid games such as World Club Champion Football and Sangoku Wars and these are also highly popular in Indonesia, but as they discontinued support the community interest slowly died down..
make sense why im barely or even never saw Fighting game/STG game arcade cabinet in indonesia but other than, Crane, Basket, Rythm and racing.
Linkin Park's Catalyst is the theme song for the first game ❤
Rengoku vs ZAFT II in PS2 is my first introduction to this type fighting game, back then me and my friends really love to play it.
I find it weird how Gundam is extremely popular in Japan & Asia but it barely talked about in Western mainstream Anime community
This series of games is criminally underrated and under supported for the US
thank you for covering this game. It needs all the exposure it can get. Been playing the series for years .
I play maxiboost on, gundam vs ps4 version, GBO2 , Gundam Evolution they are all addictive and u can spend hours playing them, also played the dynasty warriors gundam reborn and that is one of my fav muso games oat
Weird you didn’t mention the huge roster but thank you so much for talking about it
The roster on the PS4 is big. Like their 180+ fighters in this game.
It’s a really good game
The passion and effort you guys put into these videos is simply astounding! Please don't ever stop making these!!
By the time we get another Gundam fighting game ported to home consoles. We will already be like 2 or 3 versions behind it during it's release.
That old Gundam Battle Assault ost was really giving me flashbacks lol
But seriously, after having vanilla exvs on ps3, vs force on vita (got the black gundam vs force vita), gundam vs ps4, then mbon on ps4, we really need more versus in the west. The audience is here, we just need to be acknowledged.
I love how there's not a single mention about EU, I'm happy this video will probably make the game a bit more popular but yeah fyi, this game has a very dedicated player base in EU as well
Thank you for covering this game. The lack of port really burn me out since I already taste the latest version.
It was very interesting. As a Japanese player, I am happy that this game is being praised overseas😊

Mom, I'm on TV. Thank you for making a video about this game.
Would you guys be willing to cover Gundam Evolution? I'd love to see your take on how it shakes up the Hero shooter formula
