The larger size really made a difference in my sharpening. For a beginer knife sharpener, I was able to get a much smoother and sharper edge on a longer 10 inch knife.

What grit rating are those stones? That blue one definitely didnt sound like a 6k to me.

I just got these too. As always, Dalstrong’s packaging is way beyond everyone else. It’s really nice but I’d rather them put their $$ into the materials instead of packaging. I’ve not used them yet. I usually use diamond plates but wanted to start into stones. Eventually getting the quality ones. My first impression though was the 6000 grit feels far less smooth than it should. Feels closer to a 2000 or 3000 grit stone. But I’m not a Waterstone expert. Looking forward to doing 10 or so knives on these and see how they work out. I don’t mind the acacia holder. Most are bamboo and cheap and I’ll be getting a sink or adjustable bridge for $20 anyway. The lapping stone is tiny. I expected a full sized one. Still, for $89 it seems so far a good deal compared to the others on amazon. There’s a ton of really cheap ones and very expensive. This seemed to be in the middle a bit.

Yeah their 6000 feels like 2-3000 the packaging was great like you said, but I had to move on with different stones.
