    How the *heck* did you guys get that confused about the angle guides? The box has big ass pictures and it literally comes out of the package set up exactly the way it's used. I was laughing and cringing in equal amounts. But much respect for leaving it in and not editing it out. Humility is a rare thing and it's a much better show of confidence than arrogance. 👍

      We're doing our best to do exactly that. I need to apologize for taking so long. I've had a surgery on my knee and some other things going on. We've had the court case for my car accident. We had to deal with that as well. We've also had some other major things happening personally. Deaths in the family and lots of arrangements to be made. Also, I'll let you know that I will be having another major surgery in June and will not be making it to the Blade show. I will be out of work for two weeks because I'm having all the extra skin cut off of my body. We do apologize for an interruption of videos if it were to happen. Will try to shoot some head for you guys so we can fill the space. That being said, thank you for checking out the show. Thank you for your support and your comment.

    This kind of synthetic whetstone is all around the internet, sold by various online retailers under lots of different names, but all most likely made in the same factory. 1000/6000 is a weird combination, 1000/3000 (also avilable) would make more sense since the "jump" is not as big. These whetstones are usually not expensive and a great way to start to learn free-hand sharpening. Got good results on my kitchen knives as well as PM-steel folders after some practise.

      It’s funny, because I’m one of the best knife sharpeners in the world. I was set to compete at the first freehand sharpening competition at the Blade show. We were set up and ready to go before they canceled it because they had never had it before and they were not ready. I have sharpened knives so sharp that you could lay a paper towel on them and blow on the paper towel, and the paper towel split in two. The goal was to open the product and see what’s inside of it and see how they want us to use it. Obviously, I would not use it the way they recommend. I was able to get a good result because of my ability, but I don’t think someone who is brand new Would probably get the same results. They can watch my show and learn how to sharpen and get better. It’s definitely easier with different product. The point was also that you could sharpen a knife with a $35 whetstone. The product manufacturer had reached out. We have since made recommendations to them about what to get rid of. Hopefully they will listen to our recommendations and have better instructions and remove some of the things and make things easier.

    No offense to the company. The system is really poorly designed. I learned to sharpen just 2 years ago on a wetstone from RUclips videos. Nothing about that system seems helpful and is seemingly making it harder because of the base and restriction to the full stone. Always great videos. Cheers

    • @robertdavis171
      @robertdavis171 9 месяцев назад +3

      I disagree. If you go slow and carefully, those plastic angles help you learn to establish a defined angle. The whole stone is not being used so it will need flattening more often. And as the stone gets short it will be harder to maintain that angle from the plastic guides to the stone, but first few times, it's good.

    • @nadm
      @nadm 9 месяцев назад +1

      I think we pointed out the problems are in the video. We let them know that there's lots of improvements to be made.

  • @robertdavis171
    @robertdavis171 9 месяцев назад +1

    I wish you would have checked to see if it was flat out of the box, and how much it dished in your short sharpening session. I find that the Sharp Pebble stones need flattening after 1 or 2 knives. They're pretty soft.
    I also use way more water than you. Spritz every minute or so.

    • @nadm
      @nadm 9 месяцев назад +1

      I get you. The goal is just to see if you can sharpen with it right out of the box. For $35 you can do it. You can't really clean the stone without buying extra stuff. There's some improvements that we made or mentioned during the show that I know the company got.

    Those knife guides are a poor design. If you true the stones periodically the degrees will be changing as the stone thins out unless you take the time to calculate the exact depth of that stone in the holder and shim it as it wears. So weird...

      I am not a fan. I think we let them hear it from us. $35. You can sharpen a knife. You can't clean the stone very well. And even if it dishes out pretty fast, you can buy another one pretty cheap. They heard all of our issues.

    First off, I'm not impressed! I would suggest that before doing any video on a new product you first watch the manufactures video on how to use the product and then produce your video. You then at least can produce a video that is competent, instructional and can give a quality assessment. So far this is worse than the blind leading the blind. And then the worst thing after your watch the instructional video and realize how to use the sharpener, you turn around take the stone out of the cradle and use the stone on your counter. Not at all testing the complete sharpening system. Even more unimpressed! And then you say "we used your system" NO YOU DID'NT.

    • @nadm
      @nadm 8 месяцев назад +2

      LOL! I have yo laugh because we were showing what others would go through. We used it our way and had no problems. It is confusing for any new person and competent people. They could have made it simpler out of the box. We had a conversation after the video. They realized that buying it and needing a video after is not simple for the new user. Sorry you missed the mission. We own almost every stone out there. This could have been easier for a newcomer.
