You backyard oasis is absolutely stunning! The new flower bed is perfect and I can't wait to see it as it grows. You really have your very own tropical garden outside, I have to be happy with mine on the inside since I don't live in a place that allows me to have beautiful plants like these outside. My winters kill so many plants, so I have to remember when planting to get hardy plants that are perennials and can handle our harsh winters. I really love your videos, and get excited when you have a new one because they are always so much fun! Enjoy your little oasis, I know I did, bye for now.
Holly Hasegawa Nielson Thank you for your lovely comment 💚🌺🌴🦋 I’m really excited to see it all grow over the next few months. Can’t wait to do a summer tour ☀️ Hope you can make up for it inside your home jungle 😄🌱🌿🌵
Started my day with you this morning! The sun is peeking out for the first time in weeks here in the Pacific Northwest region of the US. Waiting for it to warm up a bit before I get out there and get dirty. Thanks for the motivation this morning. Exactly what I needed.
On my gosh, you have done such a beautiful job! Also, I'm so jealous of your weather! The entire time I watched, I just felt like spring will never come. (We just had a late snow storm last week and have about 5-6" of snow covered in ice) I went to the store yesterday and all their outdoor plants are arriving, but they can't keep them outdoors, so they pulled the carts in and the shop had them crammed down each isle. Thank you for showing me your green and spring happening-- Now I want it more than ever! Your garden looks beautiful!
When I was a kid, a neighbor had Passion Flower vines climbing up strings tacked up in the windows. Those whacky flowers blew my mind! I've always wanted to grow some, & you just reminded me of that! You have such a unique collection of outdoor plants too! What was that variegated shrub with rich red new leaves unfolding? And what was the lovely white flowering plant at the very end, & is it fragrant? I'd love to try to find one, but wonder if it can be sustained indoors. I have excellent early to mid day light in my south/east facing window corner. There is baseboard heat, but I could provide saucers of wet pebbles & a few open water vessels, if needed. Thank you for sharing your passion for Tropical plants!
Cheryl Anderson Thank you! My passifloras have gone wild! I’ll be doing another garden tour soon. I’m not sure which plants you mean… Are the names not on the screen? If you check out not my last garden tour but the one before it, the names of the plants should be there. I’ll be including all the names on my next tour
@@TropicalPlantAddict It's the very last plant on this vid. It appears to be a very green, small leaved shrub, with white flowers which are assembled on a smallish spike. The unopened ones look like pearls. So pretty. Published - 4/14/19, when you were still having to cover some of your plants at night, due to frost.
Thank you. Finally a video on exactly how to plant. I purchased a bag and it read to place six inches under. This is not true which I have discovered from this video. I have removed them from the soil planted them correctly.
Have you thought of installing a heated greenhouse to protect your tender plants against frost or cold? A greenhouse needn't be a permanent fixture: you can buy large-sized clear plastic walk-in grow houses, which can be easily dismantled and packed away until the first autumn frosts. Look up: "Desert Plants of Avalon" to see what she does with her cacti collection in winter. I'm emigrating to warmer climes. First and foremost for work, but a warmer all-year climate is an added bonus if a) you are not a 'winter person' and hate the cold; and b) you love growing tender tropicals, but living in the obviously UK restricts what you are able to grow.
Gary Card I was actually looking at some little greenhouse is the other day… But I’m very limited with space now. The only plants I will have to overwinter this year are my colocasia and ensete Maurelli so I don’t think I’ll need one. My cannas will be staying in the ground. Looking forward to the mini heat wave starting tomorrow! ☀️🌴🌺
Hi love your page. Just curious how deep your planter bed is the in this video which you have just installed? Just curious as I've built some not sure on the depth it should be
@@paultsworld This is quite an old video, if you look at any of my new videos from the past year there should be a link to my Amazon shop in the description box and that should work 🌿
I’m so shy and debating whether or not to comment and ask but do you have any care tips on how to keep colocasia healthy and happy? Mine was doing good for a while and something looks wrong in its stems. It is a rescue. Thank you🌱💚
I have bought canna because of this video! STUNNING garden Hannah!! I can't beleive this is in the UK. I am from the UK myself and you just gave me so many ideas for my new garden ( we just bought a house and the garden is a mess!!). Do you grow your fatsia japonica indoors during the winter?
* Orchidsphere * awesome I’m so happy to hear that! Cannas are so beautiful! Did you order from Hart canna? Fatsias are hardy in the UK so mine are outside all year... Sometimes the newest leaves will get damaged by the frost but they will regrow 😊🌿
I had a nice pot of cannas, which had multiplied, since I'd kept it as a houseplant one winter. Now I want them, but regretfully, left them out in a pot the following winter & lost them. So far, can't find them. : ( They were an orange like yours, but with a golden yellow edge. I found my receipt so have the name, which should help.( can't recall the name right now). Since you like large fast growing, large leaved plants, have you ever tried castor beans? The beans are quite poisonous, but you can bag or cut the seedheads off to keep them away from children & I doubt your birds would eat them. They can be up to 12' or maybe 15', & quite wide in one season!
Cheryl Anderson oh yes I’d love one but I’m almost out of room 😩 Unless I plant something in the middle of the lawn 😆🌿🌺 Glad you found your canna receipt... they are so beautiful and so many different varieties
@@TropicalPlantAddict I had a neighbor who grew Castor bean plants around her front porch, for total privacy, every summer. So a good choice if you have a neighbor's window overlooking your tropical paradise, or a bad view!

I don’t understand bulbs. I bought a bunch of potted spring ones this year and I want to save the bulbs but I don’t know what I’m doing. If you ever felt compelled to talk about that in a video I’d watch the ish outta that!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful plant life with us! Happy growing!

Your garden is a real inspiration! I think the softer pink camellias are known as Camellia japonica 'Bicolor'.

Should you put your bulbs sticking out the soil or i inch deep and covered? I've heard mixed opinions online about how to plant these bulbs?
OMG super
Hi I was wondering if 2 different Colocasia plants be spliced together?
