This video has come at the perfect time for a beginner like me. I ordered some colocasia bulbs that have just arrived and this has given me confidence for the next step of starting them off. So far they are in a warm cupboard in plastic bags while I wait for them to root. I have spritzed the bags with water. Thanks for your informative videos.
The Red Flash Caladium picture is giving Christmas vibes, amasing. Couldn't find one this year. Garden centers had about 5 varieties. They were not bad. Very colorful smaller leaves, so more resistant to wind. But none as pretty as the huge Red Flash.
Hi Hannah. Nothing like a nice relaxing plant video. I was just looking at soil mixes for all of my prayer plants. Hope trying to cut the coco brick didn't aggravate your hands. Can't wait for your butterfly plant update.
You have a great set up there Hannah. I have a couple of esculenta bulbs which I'll get going in a couple of weeks. I always find it difficult to work out the best time to start it going as I haven't got the space to keep it big inside. With you starting it off now the leaves will be amazing in the summer👍
Thanks! Yes it should be pretty huge again this year! I might also move a few of my pink china’s to my shady border next to my bar and see how they do 💚🌴✨🌺
Hi Hanna! I loved your video ! I purchased bulbs last year however I didn’t plant them . I was upset with myself because I wanted to try them for the first time . After watching your video do you think I can plant them in a pot ? Or should I wait until the ground is softer (early spring?) . Am I too late for this year ? Thank you ,🌿🌱🌴
I would just start them off inside in pots and then you can plant them out later on in the year, like I’m doing with mine. Although I do keep most of my caladiums inside all Summer, I just put a couple outside along with my Colocasia esculenta ☺️🌺🌴💚
Thanks for this. I was hoping you would do a video like this. My caladiums are still stored away. I won't pot them until april because I usually end up planting them outside. Here in the part of Canada where I live, they can't go out before the end of may or early June due to risk of frost. 🙂
I received some canna lily bulbs in the fall so im soo excited to go ahead and plant them in a pot this week! I do plan to use a 16 in pot, do you have any advice as to how far apart I should place them within the container? **my plants will be on a deck since I dont have a yard so thats why they will be in a pot**
From memory I think you’re meant to plant them at least 30 cm apart but don’t quote me on that LOL. They will all multiply as well. If it’s only 16” I would just put one in the middle as it will multiply 💚🌺
Spring is about to start 😄 I bought a calla lilly last year but it disappeared about September time. I kept the pot hoping it will come back in the spring, am I right?
Well...this video has popped up half way through Southern Girl crime stories cold case playlist??!? Huh! Maybe I'll be back...I am a green-fingered true crime buff!!!😆
Heyy, (it's Freakishfelts from Insta) not sure if anyone else has written this in the comments. There's too many for me to have time to read with the baby lol. Those coir bricks are really easy to cut long ways 👍🏻 I use these for my Invertibrates that I keep and like you when I first started using them and trying to cut them I was like WTF!?!? Haha!! Long ways though you can wiggle your knife in and then just pull them apart with your hands 👍🏻 Hope this helps in the future 😊
Because it’s a tender Colocasia so too cold to plant outside this time of year, that’s why I start it off inside. I plant it out May time if the weather is ok

Love the video super informative, especially for newbies like me. Inspire me to plant more and more 😊
Time for spring 😊🎉

Don’t worry I gave up after about 30 seconds of cutting it 😆 🌴🌺💚
@@TropicalPlantAddict Smart!
Just right time for this kind of video.
Just bought Caladium bulbs and elephant ear bulbs from Lowe’s last month. Can’t wait for them to sprout 🌱 😁

Cant wait to see these go! 😍😍
I would plant the soft bulbs. Sometimes they will surprise you and pop up a little plant.
Great video. Thanks.
Thanks for posting this. Great video, I must get some Caladiums they look amazing.
You’re welcome! They are certainly rewarding to grow 💚🌺🌴✨
@@TropicalPlantAddict Thank you. I will give them a go.

I want to plant some more bulbs this year! So exciting. ☺️
It is until they all grow on you realise how many plants you’ve got to try and fit in your house 😆😭🌺😁🌴✨💚
I can’t wait to grow Caladiums again this year!
They are so beautiful aren’t they! I haven’t a clue where I’m going to put them 😆💚🌴🌺
@@TropicalPlantAddict Same. I ordered a bunch of new varieties but I have no space for them 😂
@@TheBeautyJournals oh no ha ha... good luck! I think I might keep 2 or 3 inside this summer and put the rest outside
Hi, does the size of the pots matter? I do read on the internet that u can use a pot 2-3 times bigger as the size of the bulb. What do you recommend?

Could I plant both on the same (large) pot?

Lovely. Where did you get the bamboo mats for your bottom shelf? Love the set up
Thank you! They are place mats from IKEA 💚🌿
Tanx for sharing .. salam hijau from indonesia
Hi Hannah where would you recommend buying an esculenta bulb pls
I got mine 3 years ago from a local garden centre. But try Turn it Tropical online, Carl sells various Colocasia and Caladiums 🌴🌿💚

@@TropicalPlantAddict ok thanks!
Where do you store your bulbs, when I stored mine outdoors in a cupboard then some of them started to mold
I store mine inside my house in a kitchen cupboard

Yes they come back in Spring unless you live somewhere really cold 💚🌴🌺

WOW YOUR EYES ARE AMAZING
Thanks 👌🏽
I’ve been looking for the frog in a blender and can’t find it. I’m in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦.
Have a fabulous day!❤️🌿💚
I hope you find it! 🤞🏻💚🌴🌿✨
Beutyful frends i like 🙌🌱
Can you tell me where you get your caladiums please?
I got them from Casa botanica a few years ago 🌿

Hey! Lol ok damn I didn’t try that! I’ll do that next time, thanks for the tip! 😁🌿💚🌴🌺🪴
Thank U
Nice😁👍🇵🇱
Waiting for colourful leaves 🙏🌱🌿🦋
Shouldn’t be too long 😁🌴🌺💚
I buy Colocasia bulbs in asian foodshops,
Yes you can get certain varieties in them ☺️🌴🌿
Perfect sweety 🍃
Ok
I brought my caladiums indoors too late last year and they had all rotted, so I have had to restart again this year * sigh *
Oh no sorry to hear that, it happens 🥺 Will be exciting to grow some new ones ☺️💚🌺🌿
👍🏻👍🏻
👍👍👍
🙂

❤💙💚💛💜
Why don't you just plant the esculenta bulb directly into the ground, instead of first planting it inside
Because it’s a tender Colocasia so too cold to plant outside this time of year, that’s why I start it off inside. I plant it out May time if the weather is ok
