I can't thank you enough for recommending Calecim. I got the serum and cream during the sale this month and they're both exceptional products. Brands like Allies of Skin and Calecim are at the upper limit of what I'm willing to spend on skincare, but when they work (and they work!) I'll never look back.

R&D and innovation is huge with the big brands that are sold in regular pharmacies- L'oreal, Neutrogena, La roche posay- these companies have SO much money behind them that they are able to do that. Luxury skincare like Sturm for example do not. I believe there are greats in both affordable and luxury. hard to figure out which luxury is worth it though/ actually work at all. i used luxury for years (BR, La mer, retrouve, sturm, mbr, skikncueticals, etc)- wasted so much money for irritated skin. most use essential oils and fragrance. once i started using mostly pharmacy brands ( with some koreans skincare/ luxury/ medical grade serums) my skin has gotten better. Cerave, as basic as it is, has also been a game changer. thank you for bringing this up and talking about affordable brands.

Desi, this video was so very helpful because the products are affordable, It wasn’t easy to keep up with Auteur, and Auteur was drying out my skin. It was most uncomfortable. I purchased some of the products you mentioned in this video and I absolutely love them even more than Auteur, can you please do a video on oil cleaners, hydrating face masks and body oil/moisturizers that are not harmful when absorbed into the skin. @heatherparker9820 Месяц назад

@ I have had several skin cancers cut out (The serious ones have been on my knee and on my foot that caused so many problems when you have an active job. They were several years apart but required so much time and steroid shots to get the swelling down. The shots were out of pocket and very expensive. Each one was about a year and a half to get back to normal.) The others could be removed without too much surgery. All but one place was where the sun never touched. So, I am motivated by the science of it and I think it is solid. I have watched several interviews with the company on Penn Smith. I really like them and they are high quality but I cannot say if they are working or not. The eye cream does seem to do a good job. You are supposed to apply them in the morning bc some of the ingredients are light active.

@ Thanks. I might give them a go. I’ve just ordered the Heliocare 360 AK sunscreen, as it has 3 dna enzymes. I use Heliocare already, but only just discovered this one when researching Photozyme. I think it’s meant for skin with, and to prevent, actinic keratosis

I’m so glad you liked it!!! 💛💛💛
I looked at Photozyme a while ago and ultimately decided it’s not worth my time even testing. From a scientific perspective: When a brand makes a grand claim like this one “repairs DNA”, there is evidence in a form of a controlled clinical study which is also published. There isn’t one from this brand. They claim they did an internal one, I’m guessing they gifted 100 products to people in exchange for a testimony which is illegitimate. The ingredients are predominantly humectants and emollients, couple of antioxidants and enzymes; all of which are already in my existing routine. For people with history of skin cancer, I’d say “yes, try it!” because you want to throw everything at it but for seeking just a skincare product, as I mentioned, I didn’t even thought it was worth my time to test it.

It costs a little more than the original version but wondered if it actually works for PIH/PIE or if you recommend the Maelvor fade bright? Cost isn’t a factor so I am willing to spend more on something that works. I know Calecim makes a pigment inhibitor but I haven’t tried it. My concerns are only red spots (no brown). I haven’t tried the new Retinal by Paula’s Choice but I’m usually not disappointed by the quality of their products. This is the closest to a prescription Tret that you can probably get over the counter. It’s a nice touch including Jojoba oil to counteract irritation. That’s why it doesn’t irritate you as the jojoba is soothing. I’d stick with it. Looks like a smartly done product.
