I’m a doctor (first year) doing my neurosurgery rotation. The other day as I was doing a procedure, the senior was talking me through it and he was like, “See. It’s not rocket science.” In my mind I was like, “… but it is brain surgery 🤨”
I recommend all future rocket surgeons to blast off their career with a good score on their medical degree; aiming for the stars is how we do! The experience is truly out of this world.

Wait, so this was an April Fool's joke?? I am not amused. 😞 I was literally about to look up rocket surgery to see who spent 30+ years to become one. Damn it. You got me.
That work-life balance joke had me cracking up for like 10 minutes straight. When I could catch my breath, I left my room to show it to everyone else in the house and they were all dying too. Absolute gem here sir
Kevin Jubbal MD, you never cease to amaze me. A whole 8 minutes for a joke. Come on. Please I need some mentoring on how to do this whole story telling thing because its mind blowing.
*Psh* April Fools, Shmaple Tools. I'm going to be the best damn Rocket Surgeon that ever existed, just you wait! I've already mastered the art of putting on a band aid to any boo-boo's that may occur to me, AND I've managed to put a single kerbal into space in Kerbal Space Program. So yeah, I think it's safe to say that I got this position in the bag thank you very much. They might as well give me that $690,000 annual compensation right now. Save themselves the trouble.
Look my grandfather (one of the first rocket surgeon attendings back in the 1960s) didn’t perform the first extravehicular appendectomy on himself while fist fighting the Russians en route to the moon on the highly classified Apollo 35 just for all of you to make light of his career choice.
This was a really good chance to make a video about physician-astronauts and the most common pathways most physicians take to become astronauts. Nowadays it’s EM to military aligned with an engineering background, since most physicians don’t have pilot licenses.
I thought this was fake when you said 25hr a day of surgery, but then I realized that the days are longer when you father travel away from the sun. Silly me.
I knew a person that got a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and then went to Medical School, now I know what he probably became. Also impressive cuz you have to get a pretty high gpa in premed to get into Medical School and mechanical/aerospace engineers often have lower GPAs. Which isn't a big deal unless you want to become... A rocket surgeon.
Ever since I was a child, I've always wanted to be a rocket surgeon. It was sort of like a calling. I feel like I was put on earth to become a rocket surgeon. It was the sole purpose of my existence. At first, I realized that becoming a rocket surgeon is no easy task, it takes an insane amount of work and dedication. But I knew for A FACT that I could do it, I'm capable of doing it, and I must do it. My life won't be complete otherwise. I remember, in 5th grade, our class teacher handed us a fill-up sheet regarding our ambition. I was clearly set on my goal so I wrote 'rocket surgeon', I was confident in my decision. I handed the paper to the teacher. I'll never forget their expression as they read my paper. They started LAUGHING, I kid you not. My ''friends'' and teachers wondered if I was mentally unstable. From that day forward, my goal was to prove them wrong. I WILL prove them wrong. Now you must be wondering, DID I PROVE THEM WRONG?? After 22 years of education, countless therapy sessions, Student loans, Debts, a Mountain of books, tears, missed parties, no emotional relationships with a single human being (including my parents), and 0 friends, I'm proud to say that I've succeeded. To all aspiring rocket surgeons, there will be a few sacrifices and hardships, but trust me, it is worth it. Sincerely, a sleep-deprived insomniac super-rich rocket surgeon
Hi Dr. Jubbal! Could you please make a video on residency (route, competition, residency application, pros n cons) after doing MD with some other advanced degreees like PhD, MPH, MS (Physician-Scientist track)?
