Eric is gifted in transferring information. He describes the options, introduces the tool, and shows the finished product BEFORE the how-to information; his process is time-tested. Nice work.
Timeline creation doesn't seem available in my standard Google Workspace edition... Thank you for sharing your template then, cause I'll be using it :)
This is great! I used it to create an initial timeline. But I wanted to create another one but was unable to because the second timeline (using your template) was still linked to the first Events page. How do I disable the link?
Is there any way of having multiple entries in the same row on the timeline itself? Rather than each entry becoming an extra step downward? I’d like to keep it more compact vertically
So glad to see this. However I would like to set up a timeline with geological timescales. How can this be done? How does one enter 540 000 000, or 6 000 000 or 4 billion years ago?
Good point! I know that Google designed this with business in mind, such as tracking a project as a team, so we are certainly bending its use a bit to apply this tool to education. More flexible options with dates is certainly a limitation, not just entering them, but also viewing them. At the moment the most years you can see at once are 5 years, so it would be great to have an option where you could type in the number of years you want to see, such as 1,000 for timelines covering a large historical range. Thanks for your question and hopefully Google will continue to develop this tool.
Dear Eric Sir, After downloading your Timeline Template can I get it to remind me about the upcoming events? Also, can I add recurring events to the timeline? E.g. I add a timeline for AC Annual Maintenance Contract but I want it to remind me about calling the vendor at say the regular interval of every quarter. Can a timeline contain such event additions and reminders thereto? Thanks Rohit
Well done again! Had gathered resources to make a tutorial myself but the feature didn't roll out here yet. But to be honest, i couldn't have done it as well as this. I'm giving you a link and show mention on our next geg be/nl livestream. Good luck with the weekly in a few hours. Will be sleeping but looking forward to watching the recording tomorrow
@@ericcurts hey. January 8th I believe. If you want i can send you an ical invite. We started doing a shameless copy paste from ohio. That format is just great. But seems we are setting our own twists in the format by time. We are still finding our flow but very grateful to be standing on the shoulders of giants with geg ohio. Break a leg in an hour mate!
You can add the emojis from lots of sources. In my case I copied and pasted them from the www.emojicopy.com/ website. You can paste them right into the Google Sheets cells right along with whatever text you type in. Emojis are just fancy text, so they can go pretty much anywhere text can go. Once you have pasted them in, they will show up in the timeline as well.
Are you using a school or work account? The timeline tool is available for anyone with a school account (or work account) but unfortunately it is not available for personal accounts.
@@ericcurts Thank you for answering that question. I have been driving myself nuts trying to find this option. Thank you soooo much for having the template. This is a huge help.

This is amazing. I'm not a teacher any longer, but I find myself needing it for personal reasons and a refresher was super helpful.

Great video! I'm looking to create a timeline without using specific dates, but instead using "Week 1, Week 2, etc." Is there a way to do this?
Thank you so much! This was amazing for me and my students!!

@@ericcurts Similarly, any way to do dates that are BC? Example: Roman history?
Super tutorial! Thanks
Thanks Michela! So glad that was helpful!

I don't see the timeline tab in my google sheet. Do you know where this is coming from? Maybe it's a new feature only in the us?
