    Should I expect tickets to arrive in the mail? Or via a ticket number on my receipt? If so, should I print out my receipt and take it with me to the airport and give it to the ticket tacker or what? What should I expect and what should I do?

    • @ProjectUntethered
      @ProjectUntethered  Год назад

      You should get an email with your ticket info! A lot of airlines also have phone apps you can download and check your info. Some budget airlines ask you to print your tickets, but it's usually not necessary if you have the email/app. At the check in counter, they'll be able to find your ticket by using your passport number (if you're traveling internationally). Hope this helps!

    Third party booking sites like kiwi are absolutely atrocious to deal with. They will wait up to 2 days to actually book your flight while at the same time immediately taking your money. Then if the price goes up they will call you and ask for the difference. If you decline you have to wait 7-14 days for them to refund you and often times they make it so you can’t get the emails from the airline by using their own email address instead of yours.

    • @ProjectUntethered

      totally agree on Kiwi!!! I've only used it once and never will again. It was just too sketchy.
      -When I bought my ticket, I never got the airline confirmation code. It was only 1 day before my flight that I got my boarding pass and confirmation code from Kiwi!! Now this was just a flight from SFO to LAX, but had it been a bigger trip (like international) I can imagine it would be more stressful.
      -At one point, I called 3 days before my flight (well before the 48 hour timeline to cancel/rebook) to cancel my booking and get flight credit back. Called customer service and they wouldn't even give me flight credit back even though I was within the 48-hour cancellation policy.
      -Customer service is trash. Not professional and helpful. It sounded like I was calling the next door neighbor while they were cooking. I swear.
      -Not necessarily related to Kiwi, but more of an annoyance with booking 3rd party: if you want to add your TSA precheck #, you have to call the airline to add it. Just an unnecessary extra step.

      @@annejillianmonsanto8565 when i got the confirmation email saying the booking was confirmed, i started to look for the airline confirmation code as i have always gotten previously anytime i book a flight... the next day i called because i knew something was wrong... sure enough they hadn't even booked the flight yet... it is bad enough putting up with all the shitty games that the airlines play these days, but now the travel companies are getting in on it as well... i wish google would hold them to some sort of standard to be listed on google flights

    I usually buy tickets from these 3rd party sites that momondo recommends. If I need to cancel or change dates, I usually just get my booking number that I received from the 3rd party site and go directly to the airline and get them to change the dates. That way I avoid the hassle of contacting the 3rd party site, get a nice price on my ticket and get the service that the airline offers.

Some airlines/3rd part websites show you lower price on the page, but once you selected the flight, then for example there is no option with free luggage option(even if you don't have any bags at all), and google flights usually handles those cases and shows you the actual price that you can pay.

    For me, the matrix of ItaSoftware is still the best. Even if Google flights use it as base, you can mix more destinations/dates/other commands options. It works very well and now they even have a new interface.

    Hola buenas,he estado probando y nose si es que lo uso mal yo pero Ryanair tiene su propio buscador de sus vuelos. Vi un vuelo por poner un ejemplo uno de mi ciudad a Toulouse del 7 de mayo al 20 de mayo por 50€. Busque desde las mismas ciudades que mencioné ida y vuelta en las mismas fechas y me aparecen precios increíbles. Como puede ser? En teoría no deberían ser los más baratos aunque sea compañías como Ryanair? Un saludo.

    • @ProjectUntethered
      @ProjectUntethered  Год назад

      Hola Yago! No se si entendí tu pregunta, pero la desventaja de todos los buscadores como google, skycanner, kayak, etc es que hay unos aerolíneas que no están en su sistema. Ryanair es un ejemplo de una aerolínea que no sale en los otros buscadores. Entonces necesitas una ruta que Ryanair sirve, tendrías que hacer una búsqueda separada directamente en la página de Ryanair. Espero que eso tiene sentido!

      @@ProjectUntethered buah! Muchas gracias y que rápido,se te ha entendido si. Pero ahora solo tengo una duda más. Que compañías admiten cada buscador de vuelos que acabas de mencionar? Como se puede saber eso?

    • @ProjectUntethered
      @ProjectUntethered  Год назад +1

      De lo que yo he investigado, los aerolíneas como Ryanair (y southwest en USA) no salen en las buscadores que conozco, toca usar la página web del aerolínea para ver los vuelos de esas aerolíneas. También podrías buscar google por aerolíneas que no salen en X buscador, de pronto hay una lista completa!

      @@ProjectUntethered Allow me to share (Europe trip case) with you my "near optimal" approach, but not optimal after hearing from another friend. I used Manila, Bangkok, Jakarta as starting point and any point in Europe (Vienna, Geneva, Istanbul) to search for the cheapest business class ticket. It ended up with Manila - Geneva at only USD1,500 roundtrip business class. However, my Dutch friend told me that he was able to get Manila - Tunis(ia) for only 1,000 Euro or less!!!
      this means that I neglected other cities within 2 hour flight time into Western Europe (Tunisia to Paris is about 2 hours).
      this is the reason why I am asking for your advice. I know if we fix Departing city, we can get estimate for different destination cities (in USA, for my next trip). My question is more of .... I fix my destination as Chicago, how can I find the cheapest fare flying from any city in Asia. Can I not doing trial and error (putting one city and another)? Many thanks.

    • @ProjectUntethered
      @ProjectUntethered  Год назад

      That’s a great question! I wonder if you could just search in reverse to get a rough idea of prices for routes? (Ex. Chicago as your departing airport). Obviously wouldn’t be exact, but it might give you some ideas so you don’t have to search one by one.
      Also, does google flights not let you add in multiple airports in the departing airport ? I haven’t tried this in a while, but I thought it was possible.

    • @anthonyshunfungchiu9604
      @anthonyshunfungchiu9604 Год назад

      @@ProjectUntethered not really effective. I did so for European city. The ticket price is somewhat based on "willingness to pay". If the departing city (in this case USA) is a developed country, the price is higher than departing from a developing country.

    Fantastic information, Great tips. I've been to the Philippines twice both times for a month. I'm thinking of going for 3 or 4 months. Do you think it's better to look for a round trip ticket with ability to change date. Or just a one way ticket? I can save about $400 with a round trip.

    • @ProjectUntethered
      @ProjectUntethered  2 года назад +3

      That’s a great question. I think it all depends on the flexibility that you need. If you don’t mind a strict return date, then round trip would work. But if you prefer to go with the flow (which is what we generally do), then the extra $400 for one ways might be worth it. I wonder if it’d also be possible to book a round trip with the ability to alter your return date. I’ve never done this before, but if you find that it’s possible, maybe the change fee and price difference would be less than $400 - although if it’s a last minute change, it could end up being more.

    • @ProjectUntethered
      @ProjectUntethered  2 года назад +1

      Now that I think about it, I think we’ve actually done this before (changed the return date). But that was during the middle of the pandemic, so things may have been more flexible back then.

    This doesnt work all the time. I work in the field of IT and have my friends working for travel companies. The tools they use and kind of tracking they do is insane. They kind of track the ip address and geotag the location too. the best way is to do some randon searches so as to confuse the system's algorithm.
