Warcraft: Orcs & Humans (PC DOS) Human campaign longplay

- The original Warcraft game released in 1994 introduced some new features when compared to Dune 2 by Westwood Studios. In Dune 2 the whole battlefield was more or less an open space and the addition of rivers, trees and such opened possibilities for increasing variation in level designs (including cave missions). This game at least had the attempt to make more specialized units when compared to something that only moves and shoots. WC also introduced the dedicated worker unit and different types of resource. I like the darker atmosphere in this game better compared to brighter WC2. In every other way WC2 is a better game and perhaps a bigger leap for RTS genre.
Four units / group limit is an improvement, but not by much. For some mysterious reason instead of just holding the mouse button CTRL has to pressed on keyboard in addition to LMB while selecting units to a group. It's not possible to cast spells while units are grouped and there is no autocasting for spells such as healing and raise dead. Lack of quick keys for buildings and groups leads to lack of proper control of units. Player is still forced to find specific buildings and units by scrolling the map to that location. Player can't control buildings in base without zooming the main screen there and clicking the building. Lack of rally points for buildings forces the player to zoom into base and move each unit separately to front lines. Terrain obstacles introduced serious or at least annoying pathing problems to the genre.
Every human special is better when compared to Orcs. Many units are more or less useless. In campaign mode there's not much point to build melee units when you can get a ranged unit at the same price and then there's no need to upgrade melee weapons either. Only OP summoners are necessary for endgame levels.
CD does contain separate audio tracks, but these can't be played during the game so general MIDI was selected instead with SGM-V2.01 soundfont. Unfortunately there's no volume control for speech and SFX get too loud at times.

I remember the orcs scared me as a kid and I'd run away from the computer out of fright if they overwhelmed my base.

How even more modern of you.
And dare I say, totally original, never seen before ever in the history of everything!
Also, how edgy!
You said "Gay Fucking" and "the fuck"!
Truly a master of language!
@@Shimamon27 Yes, my lord.
@Jason Smith oh now were talkin
The game where Warcraft all began.
Yes and ended where blizzard created the MMORPG type of warcraft and it sucks they didn't continue
@@dominicsocorro3049 but the MMORPG continued the story of Warcraft.
"Yes!" "Yes!" "Yes my lord!" "Yes!" "Yes!" "Yes!"
My first and only thought was....That's what she said.
Zeus Blue I'd love to have workers that said said either "yes" or "yes, my lord" when told what to do :D
Back when I was a teen or young adult, I used to do jobs for my grandpa at his stables. There would be long periods where he would have to go pick up lunch and/or do other things, so he would let me hang out in the office while he was out. He allowed me to use the computer that was in there to play games. I had a Warcraft disc, so decided to play that. Managed to beat the whole entire game, although I forgot if it was all in one sitting, or over multiple sessions.

When I was a kid, I called the Conjurers, "Cornjurers"
The game brings back so many memories. Although I don't think I ever finished it.
It's the original Craft although the controls are frustrating, not userfriendly.
@@KaraokeNig That is why it is extremely hard.
When I was a kid, I thought the orcish grunts was hitting human enemies with a shovel. But they we're battle axes.
@@killertruth186 I finished it but it hurted, it hurted a lot.
@@KaraokeNig I can imagine. I think I had finished it before. But then again I had cheated on it before as well.
1995. my introduction to a home pc and this incredible franchise. roads were brutal on wc1. setting up online games with your buddies over modem and tying the phone up.. crazy stuff. tech has come so far
Yess
@@leogetz31ify my lord
Oh man. I remember how you would be trying to download something late at night to avoid phone calls and the phone would ring and knock it offline. I got yelled at by my mom for letting ny friends call after 9pm.
Warcraft II has more features and whatnot but this one is so nostalgic to me. Reminds me of being 6 years old again fooling around my Mum's Win95 ibm laptop.
I may be the only one left on earth who liked the original warcraft style and stories over the later ones (WW3+WoW) and WC1 especially has so many amazing memories for me
I’m going to miss the golden age of the RTS genre.
One of the hardest RTS campaigns I ever experienced. Playing this today, with today's RTS standards, I'd probably punch a hole in the screen.
I never played WC1 but I did play WC2 and its expansion, BTDP and BDTP was almost impossible to beat so I never completed it - if I recall I got maybe halfway through both the Human and Orc campaigns. I wonder how WC1 compares.
Youre right now campaigns in RTSs are too easy
Even with hard mode
cbrman87 wc1 was harder in some ways. It moves much faster, so if you aren’t careful you’ll lose basically within the first minute on some levels. Each Warcraft game got progressively slower. However the complexity of war 1 was slower so it was easier in that it was straightforward what to do. You just had to be alert and move quick to do it.
@@dragonite87
If you gave up on Warcraft 2 you would went greay in Warcraft 1
@@dragonite87 One of them was called Tides of Darkness.
I liked the suspense factor from the single burning farm left on your last mission. It's like you wrote it into the script.
So many memories... I spent many hours playing this game.
Y E S M Y L O R D
I remember when we got our first computer for the house hold. It was a tiger direct. Floppy disk drive. 56k modem with Southwestern bell. I was in elementary school. My dad was like 40 years old and he figured out how to set all this up from reading a computer book from the book store (there was no cell phone for looking up instructions) he set this game up with MSDOS and it was like the coolest thing ever. I would stand there next to the computer while one of my parents played it. It was so incredible and intense. The orcs being slain and their gory little remains plopping on the earth. It was frightening.
They should make this into a movie
+serich They are.
+serich Have you seen the trailer? The movie is next year
:)
+serich Yes my lord
+Tw Positive Why do you keep touching me
Watching this game takes me back.. thanks for that
_"Even these children of the underworld are no match for Azeroth's steel."_
_"Cheers of victory come from the troops, as the last Orcish hordes crumbles to the ground."_
_"The forces of darkness have been soundly defeated!"_
The narrator nails the victory quotes.
I don't know why this game was already on our family computer as a kid I played this game and just now remembered it and wanted to see it again
You can get it from GOG now.
Where it all began boys.
NuBlizzard cant even hope to compete
Wow just more than 20 years ago!
Everyone else on summer break: Goes outside or swimming
Me: Plays Warcraft on my 1st PC and my 5$ stereo speakers 😎
I wouldn't change the feeling of playing warcraft for anything, this game is the best in the world for me.
I did the same thing during summer when I was a kid. Became obese because of it, started having spine problems because of excesive sitting, had no friends and eventually developed depression, but it was still fun to play.
I am Japanese, but this is the game I was hooked on when I was an elementary school student 25 years ago. Although it was interesting, I felt a little superior because this kind of game was not popular in Japan at that time.
Yes, Mylord! Yes! Yes! Yes!
I wanted to boot up the game myself but ended up watching this longplay instead. The memories man... But I could no longer stand it after 54:24 as I was beginning to go insane with the "Yes, yes, yes. Yes my lord. Yes. Your will sire? Yes, yes, yes." Still, major props on a game well played!
...
Brings back good memories.
I think I will have nightmare from now on when someone is going to tell me. *YES!!*
Yes,my lord.
aaaa the good old times thx for play
Haha, damn, I remember this as well! The Water Elementals and Demons are freaking overpowered! Such chills whenever one of them came...
i still have this game and all the battlechest games that came with :)
Love it. I based an entire D&D campaign after this style of gaming :D
Yes? YES!
i remember when i was a my Dad would move his entire army one by one. this went on for a long time until i accidently came across pressing shift to move four people at a time. it was a game changer for both of us!
This moment when you realize that pretty much every unit and creature was in Warcrat 1 ALREADY ! ^^
'Dead Mines'...the greatest instance in WOW!
none of us played it this way.. lol. the game was hard, no one knew what they were doing. true classic.
Yes!
We need a HD remaster of this game!
.que barbaro, en tan solo 1h45min te has pasado toda la campaña... lo que sufria yo en su dia cuando jugaba a esto... muy bueno EESE
I'm a medieval man.
I played the hell out of Warcraft 2 but this is my first time seeing the original. I'm honestly kind of surprised at how similar the two are, in some places this actually even looks superior
Yes my lord
End o Human campaign today! For the first time in my life! Easiest than Tiberian Dawn, but very interesting... Now I will start with Orcs campaign...
In the beginning, was the legend.
I have this game on CD and play it on a dedicated DOS machine, but I found it quite difficult (compared to WC2.
My favorite game of all time. Dial-up too slow so I had two computers networked.
OK, It has to be done, a remix of "Yes, sire", "Yes, my lord" and "Yes".
With the wood-chopping beat
I swear that max 4 units at once is just there to add abit of a challenge to the game haha
amazing
May i ask you where you bought the game, awesome walkthrough btw.
Yes? Yes! Yes? Yes my Lord! Yes? YES!
Yes Milord!
wow! is this the BfA pre-patch? looks great!
Omfg this is the best game in the world thank u god
This is currently the best playthrough of wc1 on youtube. Nice and clean, and you are quite efficient. But i am a bit upset about your sometimes blatant disregard of your troops. More systematic approach would save more lives. But you are quite fast though, i would probably use more time to save more lives.
And you got lucky on the last quest...
123TauruZ321 Thx! :) I've gotten used to newer RTS games where there are quick keys for units and buildings so I don't need to always control every single thing separately. I guess this is why I sometimes send units to their deaths, cause I trust they can do more good by offensive action instead of sitting around doing nothing. Also, it's likely clear that I was emphasizing clear time over kill / loss ratio in this playthrough. However, unit control is indeed where I need to improve micro regarding new RTS games as well. The last quest was probably the first blind attempt on that mission so I wasn't expecting the cued rush at the end. Got little suspense in the video so I didn't replay the mission for more optimized results.
I getcha. Yes, i like that you use hotkeys, i generally like intelligent gameplay. I currently have windows vista and can't get it to run there.. What kind of system did you run it on?
This game should run fine through DOSBox with whatever setup.
123TauruZ321 the game was cleared after he got 8 wizards. after that he didn't need the base as he could just spam endless elementals. it would be more balanced if each wizard just had one mana bar of spells and otherwise act as a normal range unit.
+123TauruZ321
You don't need to be a pro mlg to enjoy War1 lol... these were simpler times.
this is the only war craft I played this is how I remember it hehe never got into the new ones
a birth of genres rts and moba
How have they not made this an app game for 1.99 🤔
you can kill medivh at the very start of the mission. use far sight with the cleric and spam heal the archer that can shoot him through the wall.
I did not know that.
Man, I haven’t seen this game since I was a kid! Crazy! Where does the time go?
wonder when blizzard will do a remaster of this game & war2 games to make them playable & modernized for new systems
😳 tha be amazing
This is great videogame. Would you mind telling me where did you get it?
What version of dosbox you are using, and how to setup sound quality like this one?
You need to install a MIDI driver to use soundfonts with DOS games that support general MIDI. For example kode54.net/bassmididrv/ There should be tutorials to be found how to use it. It's pretty straightforward. Just install the driver, then download a soundfont and select it in the configuration menu. Then select the correct MIDI port in dosbox.conf. You can list installed mididrivers in DOSBox by command mixer /listmidi. As mentioned in the description the soundfont used in this video is SGM-V2.01
YES MY LORD
Warcraft Orcs and Humans also Warcraft 2 Battle.net edition (it has Tides of Darkness and Beyond The Dark Portal) is on GOG (for $15 in a bundle). Also Battle.net launcher.
So, when I first heard 'World of Warcraft' I was sure it meant an RTS but the whole of Azeroth. I convinced myself it was going to be a game somewhat like Total War where your goal would be to conquer the world (for alliance or the horde). ... I was so wrong.
Yeah, I am not a fam of World of Warcraft as well.
Yes
GG
This game was fooking hard!! I could never get past level like 6 or whatever where you defend the town from an onslaught of necromancers and every other unit the orcs had lol. I woke up at 5 AM everyday before Kindergarten to play on my mom's Compaq or whatever.
my lord yes my lord yes yes yes yes my lord yes
Whosyourdaddy?
"Yes my lord!"
NOSTALGIA!!!!
Damn i want a remaster so bad right now...
Let me ask you something: which is more effective, a Footman, Knight or Archer?
yes
Yes milord
Cyber88 the game, like other rts, is a game of counters.
Archers are better for the cost at everything, but as said the catapults destroy them pretty quick. But the mass of archers is simply the best way to deal damage to an area.
So the knights should be used for quick scouting, distraction, and taking out catapults, warlocks, and necros, and other key units.
Footmen are good at beginning to protect long enough to get archers and if you want a meat shield for the archers. They can also be a target for catapults if you station them a few tiles in front so you can run the archers away and get something to the catapult to take it down.
The audio sounds different from what I remember.
Yes.
Couldn't play farther than the first mission. Too much "yes, yes my lord" and being only able to pick 4 troops at a time. Sweet playthrough, it's nice to hear all these places still existing today.
Imagine hearing "yes my lord" with your headphones on throughout the entire story
+KillerJayXP uh... I just did it
Congrats
Imagine hearing your spouse would say "yes my Lord" while making love. Lol.
Glory Days........and Nights 😎
They should leave road building system in WC2 i liked how my little town looked.
i absolutely loved creating different symmetries with the buildings and walls. the reason why i never liked WC2 that much.
oh baby
Is this a different version than the one i played? My level 11 is a lot harder. The orcs attacks at the beginning is relentless, I barely had enough time to build my defenses. I finally gave up and used the cheat codes.
It's certainly possible. I'm not familiar with the patch history.
that music...
That was straightup a Chaos star from Warhammer at the very beginning...
Yes my lord! This is some real humor lol
anyone knows whats the exactly difference between water elemental and daemon (in attack, defense, stats conditions)?
I think It is the same. But I think that you could use the map editor for it (I think they do or they didn't for the very first Warcraft).
why i can not hear man`s talk when level is beginning? but i can hear at introduction anybody helps?
Man the music peasants make while chopping wood is better thand most todays songs
all you need is archers .. yup same ad I remember. ..
I just tried playing this the other day for nostalgia's sake. The controls are so limited that it gets in the way of enjoyment. By contrast, revisiting WC2 has been very fun.
*Y E S, M Y L O R D*

Elementals.....so fucking nice in this

for those who haven't figured it out yet, the Orc campaign is canon
