      Give it a go! You can just as easily steam the mussels in a pot and toss the sauce in. They’re excellent either way and so easy!

    I've never thought of doing mussels like this before. The smoke doesn't cover up the mussel flavor?
    Most of the time I just throw some olive oil and garlic in a pot add some white wine, the mussels and steam them and use the broth as my sauce. Depending on the mood ill add some red pepper or tomato in there as well

    • @outdoorindoortexan
      @outdoorindoortexan  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching! The smoke is very pronounced, similar to cooking other proteins on open fire versus an oven, so it really depends on your preference. If you typically prefer a mild sauce and are all about that delicate mussel flavor, the smoke may be too strong. In my opinion the mussel flavor is still there but is now accompanied by the smoke. Might be a case of trying something new to shake things up and see how you like it?

      @@outdoorindoortexan Def worth a try, at the very least a good excuse to fire up the smoker. I am a big fan of smoke on meat but Beyond salmon I really have not messed to much smoking seafood as of yet. To be continued
