I worked on this mod, mostly the paints and the templates. I remember feeling really proud of what we had accomplished when it was released, and I'm glad you think so too.
I still remember you posting paints on nnracing back in like 2006-2007... I've known and seen your work for quite a long time. not surprised to see you were part of this with the quality of everything...
I feel like the DW12 is the Grand Theft Auto V of Indy Cars. Its like its been around for so long you can feel nostalgic for it while its also still the present offering.
I think that an indycar game in the style of Codie’s F1 series would be perfect. Enough realism for hardcore people to have fun with it but accessible enough for the average player.
I made sure to go to a practice this year because both Barrichello and Alesi were there are it was like a dream being able to get so close to my heroes. Really sad that the Lotus engine wasn't up to racing at Indy.
This was great racing sim back in the day. That brings back memories of my racing league from 2002 to somewhere around 2011. We live raced several series mods with open and fixed setups, no AI's. For IndyCar we used the OWR 07-08 mods. The cost of the game $40, free mods, tracks and years of racing sim. We got our money's worth.
I don't disagree about having a fun sim cade indycar game at all... I just don't think they needed to take away iRacing's official licensing to do it. Motorsport Games was the big mistake IndyCar made... NASCAR made sure to stick with iRacing and let motorsport games build the console title. It saved their butt too...
I really do disagree! Motorsports games does not deliver „fun simcades“ at all, they deliver nothing. But when they deliver something it’s a really bad pure arcade game with physics like 90s ridge racer! This was the most stupid idea to take it away from iRacing! They should’ve just dragged msg to court, delay the case for a few years and it will solve itself because msg will be bancrupt! It just shows how detached from the real world those managers at NASCAR and IndyCar are! They have drivers and officials who know a lot about sim racing and how important it can be for advertising and making money. Still they decided the most stupid company who never delivered anything good and is KNOWN for that! Ignore the contracts with msg and go on with iRacing or even something much better with better physics etc. Maybe AC2 will be this new legend, maybe it will be worse than the first AC because they closed their system, which would destroy its longevity.
@@rolux4853 My point was that the exclusivity of what IndyCar and Le Mans did is the real problem. Let them mess around with whatever console dev they want, good or bad, but leave the iRacing simulation alone. Don't pull that part away solely for the console title. it makes zero sense to do. No one who enjoys sim racing would want to revert ONLY to a simcade game, and no simcade person is gonna magically become a pure sim fan if they aren't already... So NASCAR did it right. they kept the sim racing and went after a fun console casual game. even if that game sucked, we all had an option to enjoy their content...
@@FloridaManRacer I don’t think this was the decision of Indycar alone. When they notified the people from iRacing that the can’t do the 500 anymore it was iRacing that took out all the other indycar stuff. No more broadcasting etc. There are many RUclips videos by iRacing and Indy creators from directly after the announcement who said that. So iRacing isn’t completely innocent here. I use it and I guess I’m over a thousand dollars into it, but I still whish it would die out and we finally could get a better sim, because the physics of iRacing are just plain bad!
@@rolux4853 iRacing was required to do all that because of the exclusivity deal. They know one thing. If they put the IndyCar on broadcasts and did Indy 500's, Motorsport Games would have an easy way to sue them and basically leach iRacing's money to stay alive... iRacing is just making sure they never have a good opportunity to do so...
Just downloaded the VRC NA 2012 mod and 2012 season skins for Assetto Corsa, Can't wait to do some racing with them. The VRC Cart 1999 (NA 1999) Mod is the BEST MOD EVER created so i am sure they did this car justice!
Maybe you ought to try the current iteration of the DW12 in Speed Dreams? I don't know if the computer opponents are tuned in yet, but the sim has begun drastically improving as of late.
I understand your thoughts on spending time tweaking nr2003. I've spent a couple years off and on tweaking ini files to get exactly what I want with cup mods. Every single time I get frustrated and say I'm done, I just can't walk away. Just one more track and 4 days of my time. Rinse and repeat
Wouldn’t mind getting my hands on some of your tweaks to make it race better, I do physics modding for NR and my holy grail has always been a good IndyCar exe, a few things in the way of doing it to my standards though
Great video tx I have a question to you not about Indy but I do not know where to ask this :) I still play GP4 with my 2006 G25 wheel and it is still a lot of fun with the CSM modmanager with all the different years you can race, Did or do you play GP4 aswell or did you everplayed it? greetings from Holland Marcel
Can you post an Install Tutorial and the custom physics exe for this mod? And a graphic setting tutorials, I have big problems with the shadows not showing up correctly.
Any plans to install GP4 by Geoff Crammond? I think you would really enjoy the AI experience with the stock patched GP4 . Its a free download now and it runs very smooth. The races are very unique every time with random failures and random off track excursions by the AI. Its very enteraining and challenging on ACE level. They have not made a better offline experience and season for F1 since this 2001 simulation....in my opinion ofcourse. It even looks pretty good today. Maybe try it?
I'm more simcade when it comes most of my racing games, I would like to see a racing game in the middle of arcade and sim! too much of 1 way don't work for me!
Faithful subscriber here, but the thing that comes to mind is that nascars benefit each other from the draft and indy cars dont? How is the mod set up in this regard?
That depends on the year, in 2012 it was definitely a drafting battle, just not a pack race. You can definitely get some big aero push going in NR with some physics tweaks that aren’t hard
I worked on this mod, mostly the paints and the templates. I remember feeling really proud of what we had accomplished when it was released, and I'm glad you think so too.
You sir are a legend
Ian S. was the big legend of the team.

@@FloridaManRacer Thank you! I'm still making tracks and other NR2003 content to this day. Old habits die hard. :D

Great look at this classic. I'm amazed you never run out of things to talk about while you're racing too. Thanks.
From a fellow Jake i absolutely love what ur doin here with the channel and the content!
Keep an eye, new update for AMS 2 should be release this weekend, last build test was pretty good

i mean you cant really race any real indycars in iracing anymore thanks to the motorsport games deal
lol i was just doing this
