really blown away with most of the features carried over from the big boy system really nothing left behind other than boost control options wich i hope changes.

this is a game changer for tuners charging 400-500 to tune a stock ecu

    • @SmokedTirez
      @SmokedTirez 3 года назад

No it isnt...Its just the beginning to filling tuners pockets....It takes alot of technical know-how just to setting-up and verifying the sensor array against what the handheld display says in order to give an accurate input to get an accurate output/solution to proper operation....Even the high dollar Holley sensors arent 100% accurate...Elevation affects the way a sensor reads..
Then theres a process in dialing-in and phasing the ignition system and doing it 100% correctly and accurately....
Theres no "Smart Chip" at all involved inside the system..Its all based off of a "Logic Chip"........
Getting a Holley tech to help you honestly from the beginning isnt forthcoming either...Ask a question on the Holley Forum and see if danny c doesnt give you a copy n paste answer or an answer of read the manual read the manual meanwhile if he read the manual I did to set up my 550-937 he would feel like a huge idiot then copy n paste a different manual for me to referrence but I had to spend hours of my life figuring it out for myself to avoid putting names on a list then dialing in my scope or pay a tuner to iron it all out for me but I found out my info through the earlier Holley Sniper setup vids.........Try n find one from Holley on the Terminator X concerning installing and phasing a MSD Pro Billet distributor thats controlling timing with a 6 capacitive box....
Heres the manual I was given with my Terminator X as danny C says read the manual.....Tell me what info in there actually helps setting up my distributor danny other than the wiring and wheres info on factory dash mounted tachometer interfaces?... documents.holley.com/199r11956.pdf
Heres a manual with alot more pertinent info I found while doing alot of searching...
      documents.holley.com/techlibrary_199r11761.pdf
Quite a huge difference between the two but both still leave ya with tons of questions with hours of wasted time figuring out the answers for yourself.....

The car is already running. Thanks for the help. The more I look at it and understand what's going on, the more I understand how nice the additional I/O's on the Dominator would be. Still though, at this price I wouldn't even be upset if I purchased the Dominator later down the road.

You could realistically adapt this to almost any 4 or 8cyl motor. Just find a way to bolt a 1x or 4x wheel on a cam gear & 24x or 58x on the crank pulley. Adapt your favorite cable or dbw throttle body & LS coils and you're set. Alternator & trans control would be the only hurdles. If Holley is smart, they'll make it work for 5-6cyl for 2jz, Atlas, 3800, J-series, etc too.

Thanks for the video update. I’m struggling trying to decide between this or the dominator! I really want to run a wide band O2 on both sides and that’s apparently not an option on the terminator x.
I do have a question though. The boost controller is in the software. Is there an output in the “wiring harness” for that, or does it use up one of your 4 outputs?
Can’t remember if it has a meth injection controller built in or not, and if it does I’m sure that uses an output, right?
And I heard you mention gear vendors. I plan to buy one to run with my TH400. And if I went with the terminator x, it would free up funds to buy it. I’m curious if it can control it by rpm, or a trigger button, and how that would work exactly?
    Any help is so appreciated;)

Boost Envy the loj one uses the g35 bcm which talks to the gm pcm for the inputs and the canbus intercepts the signals which you have to figure out. Holley may not have enough inputs/outputs to support that stuff. I could be wrong but I would go LOJ in your case.

If you can give the Terminator X an honest review against their marketing strategy of being a beginner friendly ECU system whats the first thing you'd tell the consumer based on just the way the Terminator X works as far as how it computes and interpets ..
When I bought into the hype I was thinking I was getting the Playstation5 of ECU's with smart chip plug n play technology and actually ended up with a Commodore 64 logic based computational system with a Commodore 128 twist....
Without a proper hardware setup the software side of it is all actually useless if what the ECU sees really isnt what the engine is setup as or the sensors are reading..
Its basically an operating system thats based on trust instead of smart chip diagnostics...........

If you're starting a swap from scratch and don't have a harness or ECU yet, you need to take a closer look at the math. I ran the numbers last weekend and it would be EXTREMELY challenging to EFI a swap for less than this. If you managed to do it for less, it wouldn't be by much and you'd end up with something less capable, less reliable and harder to use.
