7:37 I don’t think there needs to be a villain. The main focus of this arc was familiarizing us with the character’s before anything crazy happens. Also-most of the people who went to the hunter exam were there to get their license so that they have the resources to pursue their individual goal, so there would be no reason for a villain. On the contrary I think it might have been distracting had there been one.
I love seeing my favorite anime through the eyes of others. It’s so good. Pro tip; make videos every 20 episodes or something and not by arc. To discuss the chimera ant arc in 10 minutes is a disservice.
lmao, glad i'm not the only one watching it in 2025. i did binge the entire show in the span of a week, and exam arc is one of my favorite arcs. as a non-anime watching individual (only other anime watched: aot), i will say this was a VERY enjoyable experience. and yes, it does get dark quickly, lol.

I still think the final tournament of the hunter arc is so fucking cool. It's not about winning, it's about making the other guy surrender. Which was such a fresh twist on such a tired and overused plot device. Also, i read it in another comment elsewhere, but Hisoka is the ultimate gooner.
