    Got this a couple of weeks ago, and I have already clocked in 450ks in spite of traveling. This is a fun bike. It is almost comfortable like a MTB and almost as fast as a RB. A jack of all trades. The gearing is perfect, and the Carbon fork means business. However, the only gripe is the 38T front crank. Upgrading to a 42T will noticeable increase your speed. A perfect upgrade from a Hybrid and a logical alternative to RB considering the road conditions in our country. 11/10 would recommend it!

      @The Beard Man On Cycle Sure will do. I'm planning to upgrade it in a couple of months. BTW, the stock plastic pedals are flimsy, and one pedal has already cracked. The first upgrade I need to do is to swap them for the metal ones.

      @@adityasundar324 I agree on the pedals, I also will be in look out for a light weight pedals but standard. Some good light weight cost a bomb but worth it if you want to keep the overall bike weight down

      @@adityasundar324 Hey man just butting in.
      Is it possible to upgrade the front from a 1 by to a 2 by for this bike?
      What would be the approx cost going in for say a Sora?
      I think that upgrade would put the overall cost of the bike into the approx 90k bracket.
      The flimsy and no name parts that decathlon puts in in these not so budget bikes is what irks me the most.
      It tells me that they know what they are doing and cutting corners when it's really not that necessary.....(most possibly because they have realized that they can sell anything to the Indian consumer who is more than ready to pay for low quality.)

    • @adityasundar324
      @adityasundar324 Год назад

      @RP Yeah, it is possible to upgrade the bicycle to a 2x. The Sora groupset would set you back at least 25-30k. Agreed that Decathlon has done cost cutting by using mircroshift components.
      I am personally satisfied with the 1x drivetrain, although the front crank could have been a tad bit bigger. The reason why I went with the Triban RC120 Gravel is because the RC500 did not have Size L and the tyres are prone to punctures.
      I could give you an alternative. Go for the RC500, swap the rims and tyres for a wider one. That would work out to be much more cheaper than getting the RC120 Gravel and upgrading it to Sora.
      The rims on the RC500 are 17Cs whereas the tyres are 28Cs. I am not sure as to what is the safest upper limit for 17C tyres. Maybe a 35? could be a 38 also.
      So you could do more research on the maximum tyre size which can fit a 17c rim. Get the Rc500. Fit it with larger tyres and get much better performance and a VFM bike.

    First thx for that nice video :-) in my opinion the most worst part of this bike is that has no derailleur hanger like you can see at 5:28 min. That means if this bike will ever have a crash or falls on its right site, the derailleur, the frame and the spokes can be damaged very easy. Repairing any of this parts is very expansive and can cause in huge trouble. I do not understand why decathlon built this bike without any derailleur hanger? It would hardly increase the price of that bike but would it make so much more durable and sustainable…

      @TheBeardManOnCycle  10 месяцев назад

      To be completely honest, I haven't had the chance to ride this bike extensively due to some personal commitments keeping me busy lately. However, based on my initial experiences, I can confidently say that this bike is a true delight to ride and a lot of fun to maneuver. In terms of maintenance, I don't anticipate much to worry about. Decathlon is well-known for its cost-effective solutions and an outstanding track record of after-sales service. If you're contemplating getting this bike, my advice would be not to overthink it - just go for it. While nothing is truly perfect, this bike comes remarkably close, especially considering its price point, in my personal opinion.

    Hi! I'm 1.80m and in doubt between M and L...Can you give some advice? Thanks

    • @TheBeardManOnCycle
      @TheBeardManOnCycle  2 месяца назад +1

      Hey there! At 1.80m, you're right on the cusp between a medium and large Triban RC 120 GRVL. Here's some info to help you decide:
      Decathlon's size chart: According to Decathlon's size chart [link Decathlon GRVL 120 size chart], a large is recommended for riders between 1.78m and 1.85m. So, based on height alone, a large might be ideal.
      Riding style and preference:
      Large: If you prefer a more relaxed riding position, with a more upright torso, then a large could be a good choice. It might also feel more comfortable for longer rides.
      Medium: If you favor a more aggressive, performance-oriented riding style, a medium size might be better. It'll offer a slightly more compact fit for better power transfer.
      Here's what I recommend:
      If you can, visit a Decathlon store and try both sizes for yourself. This is the best way to determine which feels most comfortable.
      If a test ride isn't possible, consider factors like your riding style and inseam length.
      Watch some reviews of the Triban RC 120 GRVL that discuss sizing. You might find insights from people of similar height.
      Ultimately, the best size is the one that feels most comfortable and allows for good control of the bike.
      I hope this helps!

      @@main_stream_media_is_a_joke it’s actually the cost of groupset, which makes drop handlebar bikes expensive. Rest of the bikes are same.
      The Brifters are the most expensive in a road groupset, whereas a trigger shifter on a MTB or Hybrid is much much cheap.
      The Microshift XLE is actually their most successful Avent X but 10 spd. Here on the gravel, it’s the clutch based rear derailleur that too with a long cage. You can easily go upto 52T with a deraileur hanger extender.
      Still it’s Decathlon is much cheaper than the big brands. At least by 20-30k with the exact same configuration. And BTW, micro-shift is not bad, it’s pretty smooth if index properly.

      @TheBeardManOnCycle  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi thanks for the comment, let me explain.
      Riding off-road without suspension on a gravel bike is absolutely doable. Gravel bikes are designed for versatility and can handle a range of terrains, including gravel paths, dirt trails, and even some light off-road sections. While they don't have traditional suspension, the wider tires and bike geometry provide comfort and stability. It's important to note that gravel bikes aren't meant for extreme off-roading, but they shine on gravel roads, smooth trails, and mixed surfaces. If you have any specific questions or need tips, feel free to ask! Happy riding!
