    I know sometimes if I spray base to wet on the first coat , i will get what looks like fisheye in the base. I usually do a medium coat then a wet coat then a control.

    I like to run the booth at 70-75 degrees just where it’s nice and warm not hot but warm and use an extremely slow reducer. I keep a pretty tight overlap and move fairly quickly to avoid building the base up too thick. In a sense I get it on wet by tightening my overlap and moving quick rather then slowing down.

      I was around my brother who paint boats. But never around any real body shop painter. My advice to you would be.. make sure it’s what you want to do. This line of work is not easy, therefore if you don’t love it then you will have a hard time learning. It doesn’t matter if you never painted before, it only matters do you want to and will you love what you do.

    Wow man I’m shocked you got such good results with the gun so close to the panel 👍🏻. On clear how many turns out were you on fluid?

    Hey Mario some useful info there, I'm always concerned that laying the base that wet it will make the clear dieback as you have a thick coat of base under it, I don't get that many problems these days but now and then I will get dieback in the clear but now I have finally sorted my sealer (WoW primer) issues it doesn't happen that often🙏🙏👍John UK.

      Thanks John, the concern is mutual that’s y I decided to run my own experiment. And I’m glad you got that issue figured out mate.

      Thanks Mario, I might give your paint hack a try, I'm now using an Octoral dedicated WoW primer which uses a clearcoat hardener and it goes on like clearcoat and has a semi gloss when dry, it's strange stuff for a primer but works really well👌👍

    OK, I may have missed it, but when you say spray it "wet" what do you mean?

    • @mariopaintclass6091
      @mariopaintclass6091  Год назад +1

      Spray at full trigger. Usually I spray using half a trigger so it’s medium wet. In this case I decided to try something new n it worked. I only attempt doing this if I’m painting the entire panel and not blending.

    • @WJHandyDad
      @WJHandyDad Год назад

      OK, thank you for clarifying. I think that I always spray with full trigger already LOL

    Great tips @mario. Btw for metallic and pearl, do you start spraying wet as well?

    • @mariopaintclass6091

      How would you compare water base vs solvent base?

    • @beemabuildbodystylingrepai1934
      @beemabuildbodystylingrepai1934 Год назад

      @@mariopaintclass6091 I’ve been in the trade all my life now and sprayed everything from cellulose to what we have now.i find with water it’s flows out better and the drop coat is flatter than solvent.easier to get less mottle etc I did ask ppg a few years ago about not putting a drop coat on black cars if metallic or Pearl and they said it would always need a drop coat for affect.i just wandered wether to risk it one day but worried I’d ruin a job if it looked terrible outside in the sun lol 😂 if youve never sprayed water you should try it buddy it’s great 😊 would never go back now 👍 takes a bit of drying off unless you use something like chroma were you do the complete process in one go then just dry off for clear :)
