You realize the operator is Republic Airways, not UAL, right? They operate under the name "United Express." Also, airlines routinely overbook flights on purpose in expectation that some people will not show up. More than 60,000 people were moved off from UAL flights last year. They get vouchers from United, and if they don't get a replacement flight within 2 hours the vouchers are upgraded. UAL doesn't stand for the actions of one officer, who was an idiot.

My Moms been a pilot for 20 years with United. She was formally with Continental the best airline ever until United bought them out and stole their logo.
All the nice United people you find are always former Continental employees all the terrible douchey ones are straight United employees not former Continental employees.
And Jeff Smisak who was in charge of United was embezzling and he took out moving escalators in EWR (Newark International) to put restaurants in that funneled money into his own pocket. Now United has this black guy who is nice but doesn’t even know what he’s doing.
