Mughal-e-Azam follows the story of the Mughal Prince Salim who openly declares his love for a lowly court dancer named Anarkali and leads a rebellion against his mighty father, Emperor Akbar, who disapproves of their relationship. The epic film was produced by Shapoorji Pallonji in 1960. More than five decades later, the renowned Indian playwright Feroz Abbas Khan, known for plays like “Mahatma vs. Gandhi,” “Tumhari Amrita,”” Saalgirah”, “Dinner with Friends’ amongst others, brings this classic film to stage as a Broadway-style musical.
The musical is mostly faithful to the K. Asif classic, complete with lavish sets, exotic costumes, flowery verses, soulful music and brilliantly choreographed dance sequences, all of which are sublimely orchestrated by Khan to create an immersive theatre experience.
For a generation that has heard but perhaps not watched the film, this production is a great way to introduce them to Salim-Anarkali’s heart-wrenching love saga. The stage production has all the dramatic elements you want from a musical -melodious songs and mesmerizing dance sequences.
Director Feroz Abbas Khan says, “I had always wanted to share this great piece of cinema as a theatrical experience. The epic love story of Prince Salim and Anarkali has been told beautifully on celluloid. I have attempted to create a contemporary version of it for live audiences. I am humbled by the appreciation from audiences in India and several international cities. I am excited as we present Mughal-e-Azam in Doha for the first time. ”

What would you say is best seating with sound and visual? Center upper or center below or up front ?

@@travelingislifechannelThank You for your awesome clip! Was upper center the most expensive? And does the distance of enjoying the sets clearly still remain in Upper center seats? I don’t want to sit too close as it breaks immersion and you can see the lights. This show seems like the you should see from top angle. I don’t want to see be too far. I am in states, hopefully if they come which they are planning too as I have heard. I want to take family. Want to prepare for ticket price range and stuff.

Definitely some distance to the stage should be there to observe such a spectacle fully. I think top angle is preferable. Upper center were the most expensive seats. Hope you will enjoy!

Issey in actors aur singers (aur baaki sabhi kalakar) ko motivation milegi aur wo aur behtar karenge. Naatak dekhne theatre aane mein kya sharm, link hi chahiye toh Puri 1960 wali movie RUclips pe padi h wahi dekh lo. Musical (Sangeet Natak) dekhne ka maza toh theatre m hi h.

Yahaan pe singers aapke saamne naachte aur acting karte hue usi waqt gaa rahe h. Fark toh aayega hi, par unke hard work ko thodi toh izzat dijiye aap. Theatre ke actors toh Madhubala Ji aur Lata Ji jitne famous bhi nahi hote, toh unke kaam ko thodi saraahana toh milni chahiye, nahi?
