Heard lots of feedback from folks saying their game looks better and runs better after learning this info - what about you? EDIT: Holy shit guys thank you so much for the love in the comments - really made my day.. Been a little down lately for a bunch of reasons and this is the kind of thing I needed today. Thank you fam!
I sat down and messed around with my setting on different maps with the info from the Pogcast yesterday, and the extra info from the video is super helpful. I really appreciate your way of teaching the community, just like with the ammo back in the days. It made me realize how it isn't black and white and it helped me teaching other people how to approach the way the game works. Once again great video V.
Honestly I think grass shadows was the biggest thing I was missing out on, grass looks so much less shitty now at no cost. I bumped up my sharpness and turned on z blur(helps draw your eyes into some scopes personally), Also LOD quality turned up allows you to see through car windows from further away where the windows may not render which was surprising but otherwise I don't notice the difference anywhere else while actively playing the game. This game can look pretty good when it isn't foggy, which it is like 80% of the time I play. Thanks for all the work you put into this Veritas!
I believe LOD quality might also affect seeing through the windows of the three "barracks" buildings by the helicopter on Reserve, which is honestly huge
Grass shadows definitely makes the difference. Although, on the other hand, Im torn with the shadow quality and being able to see players against rocks now :'(
this was the kind of stuff i was hoping to see in the video more, how does it actually affect gameplay not a technical explanation of what it does. yes that is helpful to a degree and nice to know for when i see those settings in other games but i had a lot of questions esp about LOD and overall visibility and sharpness as far a loot items and combat like for example can loot items and player models or parts of the player model or perhaps parts of the terrain being culled to where i can't see them to pick them up or shoot them or shoot through invisible terrain, also was hoping to see more on the post fx, ugh yet another half hour video from veritas where my only takeaway is "i need to go spend 3 hours offline testing this myself"
Although i didn't change my settings much watching this video, it certainly helped me understand what all of the settings mean and what they do even though they can be complicated at times. Overall i think this video was very informative and i would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for some spicy graphics. Appreciate all the work you put into this video, but don't burn yourself out i would hate to see you not enjoy making this kind of indept content.
I'm constantly impressed by the integrity of your work. The Tarkov community is extremely lucky to have you. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Much Love
Hey veritas, I don’t know if you’ll see this but I just wanted to let you know that the quality of your videos has seriously influenced me in terms of motivation towards my education and gaming. Being a junior mechanical engineering major in college, it’s cool to see how somebody who is involved in engineering can translate their technical knowledge to something they really enjoy, like gaming. Dude, i was thinking a couple hours ago: "maybe someone made a vid about video settings of tarkov" and here you are, you beautiful beast of an angel! told you once, make the app and you have a friend for life, now i guess we are family. put some noodles on the stove, im coming for dinner, and bringing some wine.
I think people need to take Veritas' early words in this video into great consideration. Your mileage WILL vary. The RTX 3080 is much better at certain things than older GPUs, such as my RTX 2060. I noticed that a large amount of test areas used in this video are positioned high up on a rock or a building's roof, overlooking an area towards the middle of the map. You'd think that's a pretty good spot to fiddle with the settings to figure things out, but you're missing out on seeing how the settings work when you have objects closer to you in a densely packed building, such as Factory or the underground bunker on Reserve, or even the resort on Shoreline. Those are spots I've noticed have performance that is atypical to the rest of the game. Take that into consideration. For me, changing the shadows quality and distance on Reserve while standing on a roof has a very small difference between the settings' performance impacts while making rather significant changes to the graphical fidelity of the game. HOWEVER... if I go into Factory and go from MEDIUM shadow quality to HIGH it has a LARGE performance impact, especially in the stairway closest to the office. This is just one example of how certain settings will have different performance impacts depending on where you are. Going from medium to high on a setting while positioned in a certain place on a certain map can have a certain performance difference while at the same time have a MUCH greater performance impact on another map or even just another place on the same map. I'm not going to share my settings because I think, just like Veritas, that you should figure out how your PC handles the different settings and try to find the balance you prefer.
Gonna be honest, I had mixed feelings after seeing certain you tubers receiving rtx 3080s pre launch. Channels like Jackfrags and Veritas, considering they don't specialize in hardware reviews, had me scratching my head. Especially after seeing Jackfrags video on it, which showed 2 games and didn't even show what specific settings or framerate averages he was getting other than "its roughly 25 percent faster than my 2080ti". Like great, that's fucking useful. To be clear, I like jackfrags but that video in particular had the absolute barest of effort put in, and he got sent a 700 dollar gpu that nobody can actually buy so far. It's especially irritating when hardly anyone got these cards and you have Nvidia handing them out to channels that don't even do decent hardware reviews. This video however, was entirely deserving of being sent a 3080. It's clear that Veritas put an absolute shit ton of effort into this, and benefits everyone, not just the people who got sent 3080s and the 10 people who managed to snag one at launch. So props to you Veritas, for doing something good for the community what what really is a great privelage to have, unlike a certain other channel that just grabbed some footage already recorded and said "it's fast". Thanks Veritas. Hopefully Nvidia can get inventory sorted out quick so the rest of us can get these also.
That’s one hell of a full goddamn dictionary of a compliment. Like hell, most of the essays and interviews and the rest of the shit that I had to write for school wasn’t this long, so props to you man for a positive comment on a great person.
I'd like to see side by side comparison of 2080ti to 3080 for Tarkov on WQHD and UHD for each map in raid, not in offline raid with same game settings, maybe @Veritas you'll add that later? Would be great!
i gotta say man, some times i dont agree with some of your opinions for and about this game. but man, you have got to be just about the single most informative and collected content creator for this game. thank you very much for breaking all this down with side by sides.

Great video as always Veritas, and my son still remembers that nvidia contest and is thrilled with the 2060 he won from you :). He is still quite new to fps but we're talking about starting up a Tarkov account for him so we can play together.
Interestingly enough, when I messed with the anisotropic filtering I got completely different results than you, so I left mine on. That's Tarkov for ya I guess. Anyways, great video Veritas!
Hey Veritas, I'm feeling "Impulsively Responsible" enough to drop this comment. I had the pleasure of meeting Aaron Marshall back in Jan 2019 when he came through phoenix. It was the VIP thing where you get to hang out with him for about an hour before the show. Awesome part is that nobody else got VIP so it was just my wife and I with Aaron. We also got to meet Jason Richardson, Luke Holland, Nick Johnston and Sam Jacobs since they were on the tour as well. I'm a guitar/theory nerd so it was an incredible experience just talking theory with him and picking his brain. I really love what you did with the final track in this video. Keep that shit up man.
This was very in depth. I just wish the developers would optimize the game so that I could enjoy a lot of these higher settings on my high tier gaming system.
Man what a ride.. Thanks for that guide! I know a bit about graphics myself and how it impacts frames in games but seeing actual comparisons i dont have the time to do myself in EFT.. Great stuff, but one thing you might of failed to realize is that for you a 10 fps difference might be small, but for some of us it could be the difference between 40/50fps, 50/60fps, 60/70fps, with other words, for people who don't have 3000dollar pcs, it might actually be quite a difference.
This whole video and Veritas view just confirms all my theories around Tarkovs graphic settings, Medium texture for both look and pvp edge, low shadows low distances to both boost FPS and also visibility.

It would be nice if Devs just had a gold standard they used for graphic settings and kept them all the same. If your computer can't handle it then either upgrade or go play simpler games.
@@kurtaaron4110 At first yes, but it would also push the market in the long term. More people would be upgrading, with increased sales you have more money for R&D, cost cuts which drops the price for everybody etc etc. I'm doing alright business wise, I appreciate the concern though.

Bro thank you so much for taking the time to explain all of these settings. Not only did I learn better settings for my favorite game but learned a little more about graphics settings to begin with!
To add in on LOD, having the setting all the way down can cause some issues with iron sights on weapons having no visibility, especially with pistols so the lowest I'd ever drop that is 2.5
Dude I would LOVE to see a tour of your guitars, amps and recording gear. I'm in the process of setting up a game/music streaming studio myself and would love to see your equipment setup!

Video: EFT Graphics Guide. Also Me: Still gets killed by somebody right in front of me. For real though, I swear people blend in so well. I have no clue how Veterans are able to spot people so well.
Like guy said, thermals and lots of game time. Took me about 200hrs of game time to feel like I have some semblance of what the fuck I’m even doing lol. Welcome to the Tark.
my 5900x and 3080 was supposed to be delivered 2 days ago so in preparation I revisited this video. Got all the info I needed and even stayed for the end comparison. The last tower scene was too good. Cant wait to camp that spot just to enjoy the view
"Teach a Man to fish video" bruh... this is explaining the intricacies of locating and examining the current trending plot points of fish from the past 5 years. Then showing exactly how to tie the lure, bait it, then perform therapeutic treatment on the fish to make the meat taste less 'stressed'. LMFAO
The thing I find about shadow settings is that while they can make it harder to make out other players in shaded spots, they can also create a more distinct silhouette that's easier to spot when players are in lighted areas or there is a source of light that casts their shadow in your direction. It's a give & take really.
"... that time, I tried to Bob Ross..." That picture right before that reminds me, ... That is a painted picture, like someone you know. The scenery of Tarkov, be it the sunset or the landscape is one of the most beautiful scenes in all games
Nice video Veritas, Just upgraded my GPU from 1060 to 3060 TI then i could tweak my graphics and the game runs so smooth now, still working fine for 12.12 patch Thanks
How in the hell do people get those kinds of framerates? 23:34 I struggle to get 60 FPS with all low settings at 1080p on a GTX 1660 Super while Veritas runs around with nearly 300 FPS at 1440p :(
Thank you Veritas, I appreciate the information and the technical aspect of this video I will be sure to test some of these things when I get back into EFT.
Love the video. It helped me change some settings around. Used to run without grass shadows, lower textures and without txaa. Turning them up to max didnt impact my fps as much as I thought it might. Thanks for the useful videos.
Those people that complain about tarkov being "washed out" should take a trip up north sometime lol. I mean if its that washed out during autumn in Ohio, imagine freaking Russia
Yeah Autumn ls and winters here are just grey 24/7 it’s no joke that people from north are so depressed. We even have a lot of specific terms describing this feel «Русская хандра» or «Русская тоска» etc
im late to the party, and I am no stranger to tuning settings to get them right for games, but I followed this video every step and my tarkov has gone from potato to dank MLG. I cannot thank you enough this has literally changed my tarkov experience and now I can enjoy my 144hz monitor on my favourite game. 10/10
fantastic video, 1 thing I'd have loved to see is an apples to apples comparison, take timestamp 25:46 walking down the hallway on factory, 1080P low and high side by side. putting 1440p there, the difference is so stark it's crazy. Also, dunno if you'd be inclined to try it, instead of the in-game resampling, trying out DSR factors in the NVIDIA control panel, you could get 1.5x and 1.78x which wouldn't be as taxing as the 2x resample in-game and IMO adds a lot of clarity.
11:29, would recommend to leave it on low, because enemy-visibility is slightly increased, even smaller objects could block the line of sight... but if they are not getting rendered, they cant.
Looking at the final comparison on top of dome in Reserve, it seems like low settings allows for more visibility but at the cost of mistaking any distant bush/barrel with a person. Ultra settings allows you to see their face pores from 300 meters but only if you can spot them through the forest of tree textures covering up the environment...
Thumbs up for this one man. This had to have taken a ton of time to research, record, and put together. Learned a bunch of new stuff about graphics settings in general, and can't wait to jump in game and start tweaking settings on my end now that I actually know what does what

Was looking for a comparison video for an hour or so, glad I found it. Thanks a lot for the time you put in.
bro i just realised for the longest time i had noise on and that was why my game was so fucking grainy. Damn.
I came is for the optimization of my game, stayed till the end hearing Veritas magical sounds. An amazing, very underrated artist.
In 12.8 you can make the game run way better with some secret settings
You cheeky bitch
@@VeritasGames xd
Such as?
Amazing vid V. I took what you taught me and i can't believe how much better the game looks. Thanks so much for making it.
God's work indeed! Thank you for this guide. Looking forward to more.
Thanks for this Video!!! Been playing this game for almost a year now and love it. Been messing with the setting as I’ve always loved games for the way they look. I’ll put these into effect this evening when I get home from work!!! Thanks new subscriber and fan.
Shout out to all the OG’s who use to struggle with the 25fps no matter what build you had lol
Ex 750ti ,i7-930 gang gang
Wow insanely high-quality video you put together. I'ma watch your stream now :)
Video: EFT Graphics Guide.
Also Me: Still gets killed by somebody right in front of me.
For real though, I swear people blend in so well. I have no clue how Veterans are able to spot people so well.
Thermal imagery 👌
Like guy said, thermals and lots of game time.
Took me about 200hrs of game time to feel like I have some semblance of what the fuck I’m even doing lol.
Welcome to the Tark.
I usually sit on a spot with busy traffic, then just hold still. You'd be amazed how easily you can spot people moving from bush to bush. Lol
Thank you man. Very detailed. I like the fact you teach and not tell. Giving us the tools to use ourselves. Thanks again!
great video, Idk if I missed it but how is it running compared to the 2080ti in terms of performance? Any noticeable difference?
I would love to know as well, finding 3080 vs xyz in regards specifically to tarkov seems about impossible to find much of anything right now.
Tarkov is so ridiculously CPU bound. I doubt it would be much
@@tcfirebird78 this may have answered my question. I have a 2080 TI and still get low frames on tarkov
@@Cappon.Gaming same here :/
tarkov is not only cpu bound but also Ram
This is an incredible break down. I really like your methodology and your approach to user-based options. This was a huge help, thanks man!
Man this makes me really wish I could run escape from tarkov.
my 5900x and 3080 was supposed to be delivered 2 days ago so in preparation I revisited this video.
LMFAO
I don't usually add anything to my favorites list, but hell, I grant you this one for the algorithm, fam. Well deserved.
Anyone, I repeat A N Y O N E who plays EFT needs to watch this video. I recommend this to every single Tarkov player out there.
This is probably the highest quality video I have ever seen on this game, a masterpiece if I'm being honest.
My favorite comment during one of your twitch streams "he does no research about any of this" LUL.
Amazing eh?
@@VeritasGames I've always gone to your guides more often than others due to technicality. Ty again for the vid. Also the dope music you out out.
Just got the game and searched this up - searches it up again and u just popped up - perfect
Can you please update this video with new settings that have been added
awesome video, and the musical part at the end is the cherry on top! thx. I'm obsessed about the melody starting at 27:23
love the content , and yes , im jealous of your 3080... ;)
I finally understand all the settings! Thank you so much for the in depth but understandable explanations.
Daddy Pest said we had to come watch the video 100 times and like for the RUclips Algorithm. 😏
The thing I find about shadow settings is that while they can make it harder to make out other players in shaded spots, they can also create a more distinct silhouette that's easier to spot when players are in lighted areas or there is a source of light that casts their shadow in your direction.
It's a give & take really.
Me, sitting with my 1Gb 650ti:
-Aha...
Time to upgrade my guy
@@youtubeuser84848 ikr. Bought R5 2600 and 16 gigs of ddr4 already, waiting for new cards from AMD and cheaper options from Nvidia
@@SpikeVike27 The new 3070 seems like a steal at only $400. You're getting 1080ti+ performance for $400.
@@WilliamStewart1 well, in Russia they currently charge for it about 800 USDs. I'll wait for 3060 or something, no plans for going from 1080p yet
@@WilliamStewart1 500$ *... Plus u are gonna get a little better than a 2080ti performance and not 1080ti like you said
Man! What a video! Super in-depth and thorough! Keep it up bro!!
I love this dude.
"... that time, I tried to Bob Ross..." That picture right before that reminds me, ...
That is a painted picture, like someone you know.
The scenery of Tarkov, be it the sunset or the landscape is one of the most beautiful scenes in all games
Where did you find the time to make videos like that while fighting and arguing with you viewers on stream? 😂
Still a good video!
Nice video Veritas, Just upgraded my GPU from 1060 to 3060 TI then i could tweak my graphics and the game runs so smooth now, still working fine for 12.12 patch Thanks
Nice pajamas V!
Alright ... im doing the Zblur , and upping the Sharpness .
Fantastic depth in this Video ... This is the new standard .

How in the hell do people get those kinds of framerates? 23:34
I struggle to get 60 FPS with all low settings at 1080p on a GTX 1660 Super while Veritas runs around with nearly 300 FPS at 1440p :(
ive got a 1660 super and never dip below 60 with nearly all high settings
Well, RTX3080 is no joke
@@Lendercl what's your CPU?
Mine is a Ryzen 7 2700 3.20GHz
@@ninthjake i5 9400f
@@ninthjake i got a ryzen 1600 paired with a vega 64 and i get nonstop stutters and low framerates too lol
Thank you Veritas, I appreciate the information and the technical aspect of this video I will be sure to test some of these things when I get back into EFT.
Why is there no "ultra" setting for textures? Already lost on the first point^^
he meant high.
My bad - anything I said regarding ULTRA related to textures I meant HIGH.
@@VeritasGames i felt thats common sense and whoeever doesnt get it lol...
@@iOldFasionGamer I felt my comment was more sarcastic and whoever doesn't get it lol...^^
@@iOldFasionGamer No it doesn't lol a lot of games have low, medium, high and ultra. I thought mine was bugged when it didn't show ultra :p
The "lords of destruction" joke was an instant like. Classics!
Is it just me but I don't have an option for "ultra" in texture? Even if I slide the overall bar to Ultra, my texture only goes up to "high".
yeah he means high every time he says ultra
@@gh0stwithskin ah okay as long as it's not just me, they do have ultra for shadows but not texture setting so it's confusing for everyone.
Love the video. It helped me change some settings around. Used to run without grass shadows, lower textures and without txaa. Turning them up to max didnt impact my fps as much as I thought it might. Thanks for the useful videos.
32:48 79 fps vs 141 fps ... well, lowest settings is it then ... :D
Yeah I'd rather play EFT on my gamebody advance too :)
@@VeritasGames i prefer nokia 3310 too *please dont perma ban me*
One of the best videos visually and professionally, I've seen in a while.
I love so much how your videos feel so professionally done.
Immediately caught the Intervals vibe on the lofi track then saw the video from when you did the play through. sick shit man subbed
im late to the party, and I am no stranger to tuning settings to get them right for games, but I followed this video every step and my tarkov has gone from potato to dank MLG.
Making the Diablo 2 reference earned you a subscriber just now.
Getting back to Tarkov after months break and this is such a sweet video to come home to
Why am I watching this if I don't even play the game any more. Nice vid @Veritas, a lot of work/research U did there. Thumbs up.
I'm really thankful for this video, it's really helpful to understand the beauty of tarkov world; good music, really nice editing :) nice job V
Thumbs up for this one man. This had to have taken a ton of time to research, record, and put together. Learned a bunch of new stuff about graphics settings in general, and can't wait to jump in game and start tweaking settings on my end now that I actually know what does what
