Its pretty great that you never picked up a stick in this video and were still able to give a full important drum lesson! This is the type of content we need more of on RUclips!
Hi Ari, Thank you for that. Would absolutely appreciate an explanation like this for your beautiful tune ''''LINES OF OPPRESSION"" otherwise AKA, ""LINES""". Lines has always stumped me.
Thank you for sharing. Easy to understand - hard to play😁 Especially as a guitar player.... I transcribed your (wonderful) song and now I'll work on metric modulation!
Wow...I learn a lot, thanks!! Can I ask you about the 5 over 4 example, which I haven't done before. I don't know the way to practice or think this kind of patterns, is there any suggestion to help me being familiar with the pattern? Thanks!!
Is this actually called metric modulation? I’ve seen it talked about, but rarely, and I think yorev gabay called the “morphing numbers” or something along those lines. His video about the band Victoria covers them extensively.
Garstka's "Trinity Loop" video shows this morphing technique well. As 3+2 (5/8) morphs into 4+3 (7/8) and back and forth, all while the underlying loop never changes a bit.

i’m convinced that every single one of this man’s brain cells could hold a different rhythm and he’d be able to play them all at once
