Did this drill for just a few minutes before playing a round and I can't say enough about how well it worked. Not a single hook all round with any club. Everything was either strait or a 2-5 yard fad. Just fantastic. I'm prone to hooks and some fat shots and this eliminated both. Thanks Chris!
It's amazing how effortless and powerful a flush strike feels when the club stays on the correct plane all the way through the swing like chris just demonstrated in this video. Even cheap clubs and balls feel soft and responsive with a great strike.
Thanks for this, Chris. To my mind, post-impact is the least talked about component of the golf swing and yet so important for directional control. I have two swing thoughts these days: don't finish the shot and it will go right, don't turn through the shot and it will go left!
Thanks Chris, just the drill I need right now. On TrackMan and video slo-mo my path is quite +ve and wristy through impact to counteract. Working to have a neutral path and this’ll help to keep the body rotating through impact. Thanks for the great videos
Just wanna thank you for the great content. In one of your videos you helped me with my driver that i was always hitting on the heel. You said to adress the ball with driver of the ground. Now i hit it almost always in the middle👍
Really good oneI have a good understanding of most of the swing and what should happen and why but I have always struggled with the follow through. I would almost stop my swing just after impact just sloppy with my arms. This was helpful.
Thanks Chris. Related to this can you help on control of the wrists/hands on the takeaway. I'm one of the wristy inside on way back players leading to some really good rounds but also same number of bad ones mainly from hook or push with driver. Thanks, Brian
There are a lot of instructors that do not like the glove under the right armpit drill. They say that you need that separation on the backswing to have a longer backswing and the glove inhibits your distance. In your full swing, you do have separation. So, what is this drill supposed to promote?
Yes I’d completely agree David, for me it inhibits the second half of the backswing too much. This was a post impact exercise and the glove is the main reason I suggest a much shorter backswing whilst using this drill 👍
Thanks Chris. Good lesson for me. I also need to increase my angle of attack. Do you have a drill to suggest? No issues with the shorter irons but long iron flight is way low and I rarely take a real divot. Thanks
Hi Chris. 2 questions, is the shaft set in the ground at the same angle as the club..? Where did the ball exit, was it inside or outside of the alignment stick.? I tried to spot it but couldn’t quite make it out. Thanks great tip as usual.
Chris, if the club face is closed, are you not just pulling the ball left...or conversely if the face is open, you're hitting a slice (cutting across the ball)?
Hello Chris After your vid lastweek about the glove under the arm i practiced it and played Saturday. Got 36 points off 16 1st time since iv been dropped Not 1 blob or 3 putt the whole round in tough conditions& course. I also done the putting drill between the tees before the round. So just want to say thanks for your vids mate you have helped me massively. Helping me drop shots ❤👍 Get some more vids of you playing on courses. Thanks again your the man
Chris ,,, you know I love the stuff you go over .. here .. I have a problem .. and just a thought for anyone else visiting .. If your arms are standard length .. and proportion ..this is a great idea .. if your arms vary from standard ..especially proportion .. you problem would go very wrong trying to reach this position .. Chris.. feel free to erase this comment .. no offense will be taken.. i'm just a non-standard person .. so I am very aware of this condition
Hey Alan, if the ball is flying in a straight line then your face control should be fine, this is more likely to be a club path too far out to the right 👍
ChrisRyanGolf so would your drill in this video be helpful? Is my path most likely to much from the inside? Do you have a previous video that you have released that has addressed this issue? Thank you!!
Hi chris. Been working on this follow through for over 2 years and wondered why I had no power or distance. Like myself we can get a bit confused, as you are not showing the realise of the club face. In your realise I notice you do a roll realise after impact like you should thats why you hit the ball so far. I think you need to show this to us all. Been studying the late Mick Austin world record holder at 63 year drove the ball 512 years in a senior tour in 1974 with old wooden driver, basic titlist ball. And Tiger woods was the second with all the modern equipment only hit 494 yards. And his power came from the rolling of the clubface after impact to generate a massive clubhead speed. Why should we change now. If it works dont change it. Also Mich never had back problems like all our modern players of today. Hope to see you again soon.
Thank you for great explanations and a good drill; But, in my opinion, you should be more precise on how and where the stick must be grounded, so there is no possibility to practice the drill the wrong way
Patrick Bechler he literally told you exactly where to put the stick. Two feet in down the target line from the ball, two club head lengths outside the ball. Lmao

This is one of the most underrated item in golf in my opinion!
I agree Rudolf
This drill is brilliant. I tend to stop exiting. This will get me to complete going through. Thanks.

That’s great to hear, sometimes the simple tips have the biggest effect 👍
Love this drill. I struggle with a hard left so I will def try this down the range at the weekend, weather permitting
Really good oneI have a good understanding of most of the swing and what should happen and why but I have always struggled with the follow through. I would almost stop my swing just after impact just sloppy with my arms. This was helpful.
I’ve been having trouble hooking my shots lately and I can’t wait to try this drill.
This should really help Paul
I like the glove under the right arm pit drill. Thanks!
Thanks Chris. Lets test it how it will work to hook.
Thanks Chris. Related to this can you help on control of the wrists/hands on the takeaway. I'm one of the wristy inside on way back players leading to some really good rounds but also same number of bad ones mainly from hook or push with driver. Thanks, Brian

In backswing is it same way club exit on your right side as an arc?
I'm struggling with pull hooks and blocks so hopefully this'll help me
Great video. Do you have a square or roll release? Looks like square when doing the drill thanks
Great video Chris!!

Struggle through exit THATS ME thanks Chris going to give that a go immediately lol 😂🏌🏼♂️

Just depends on club path and it’s relationship to the face at impact, a number of ball flights that can be hit with an open or closed face 👍
Great video!

Awesome that’s great to hear, excited to think how low you could now go in better conditions

That's a great device to use, but more effective on windy days.
Thanks Chris, I push my driver a lot. Would this drill help that?
I’d think so yes as should
Help with the path 👍
What do think is the reason that my ball flight is straight and to the right? I am concerned about how to control the club face .

Yes this would work, the face part of this may not be needed, but the club exit under the alignment stick would be ideal 👍
Exit golf STI WRX
Thank you
Great tip!!! Thank you.
