    I am a scratch golfer and this is one of the BEST videos I have ever seen that simply explains how to swing the golf club. Great swing thought and one of the main things to focus on during the swing. Thanks for sharing Dan.

    Dan, I have been following your instructional videos for a few months now. I am a huge fan. Everything clicked yesterday. I had 10 birdies and shot 67 at Druid Hills in Crossville, TN. I am 11 days shy of my 65th birthday and have a 2.5 index. Swinging with the body in conjunction with exiting left (along the circle) was my key thought. Been old school my whole life. The new modern swing is the way to go. Many thanks Dan!

    Not all tour players "exit left". The majority do, I do lol, but not all tour players do. Great video as usual! The drill I do for this is to start with 5 balls/shots. Then I hit a 10 yard chip, a slightly longer 30 or 40 yard chip, a 50 yard pitch which is where you really begin feeling the club work around to the left, a slow motion/speed full swing then a full speed full swing. You could do as many balls as you like incrementally lengthening each shot while feeling the handle move more and more to the left. Works for me.

    Hey Dan, stumbled across this video couple weeks ago. Just want to say thank you 🙏🏻, it has transformed my ball striking. Over the last few years I’ve been a patchy ball striker. My timing on the day would determine my quality of golf. I identified I was early extending and delivering a high handle at impact. This was causing me to lose the ball left (push slice as I’m a leftie). After weeks a weeks of chipping balls into my practise net using the drill and feels described. Went to the range and voila. Straight ball flight with a hint of a slight draw AND I was taking a divot with higher ball flight. Amazing.
    From my point of view understanding the dynamics along with the drill helps me implement routine. So cheers Dan really helped me out.

    Brilliant video. I've seen slo mos of Hogan, Snead etc swing with hands going so far left through the ball and hadn't a clue of how to do it. There are some key elements explained here that I would never have realised. Thank you very much.

    Dan, great vid and tips. Yes have been transitioning to this swing. Have been playing since I was 10 and I’m 50 now and as you can imagine how many swing evolutions and concepts I’ve been through over the years. Basic principles still apply such as weight transfers , hip rotations, takeaways and follow throughs. The hardest part is to quiet down several elements that have been muscle ingrained over the years. The good part is this particular swing is not new to me since several elements of it are used in the short game for better control of the shot. All I had to do was transition that swing concept to my longer clubs. Now here’s the struggle, the timing and face at impact truly determines the direction of the ball. We’re talking a nano second for the face to be square at impact while the rest of the body is going through its movement to release left. The drill you shared will help me ingrain in the muscles the hand position at impact in relation to the body.

  • @FullerEducation
    @FullerEducation 5 лет назад +1

    Simply brilliant as usual Dan! One quick question. I have been applying your lesson for months now(turning left), I live by it and my contact has become more solid and consistent than ever. However, turning left has caused my ball to hook even more. (Been struggling with a snap hook prior to this) I know that I need to swing less in to out. But, another issue that came up was the structure of my golf clubs. My irons have a but of offset for it is designed for mid to high handies. And, my driver and woods are a bit draw bias(M6) So, would that cause my balls to hook when performing the modern swing?? If not, other than the in to out swing path, what factors would cause this horrendous hook when using the rotation swing???

    The light bulb went off for me with Dan's and Slicefixer's swing pattern (Hoganesque) when I just imagined an alignment rod was sticking out of the butt of my club and I try not to get whacked hard by it in the follow through. I do practice swings at home and on the range with the rod actually in the club to ingrain the feeling. Its ok if the rod gently touches your back on the through swing, just don't let it hit you real hard...

    Really hard to go from a rolling release hand flipper player to this correct and rotational swing. It's like, no power in the release for swing speed. Guess it'll come with doing the drill. great instruction thank you

    • @kdub3288
      @kdub3288 2 года назад

      Just came across this video but yes I’m the same way. I’ve always been a rolling release and got very good at controlling it. This swing feels very restricting to me and awkward because I feel like I have to hold the hinge which feels very forceful and I don’t like that I can’t really keep my eyes on the ball through contact since your body has to keep turning even before you make contact. I also don’t understand how you get as much swing speed when it feels like it’s an all body swing with no implementation of the hands and arms. Wouldn’t this result in a lot of torque and strain on your body and knees?

      I've been working on this even though I didn't realize it was "swinging left". For me, it felt like my right hip was squaring up to the target and everything else just turned left. And hell yeah it works with hybrids, fairway woods and drivers. It's amazing how straight the ball flies. It feels like your entire body is unloading into the ball instead of a weak arm swing.

  • @kdub3288

    How does this swing translate into a full swing with driver or even mid irons? I know the pros stay down on the ball but it still seems like most are releasing the arms and hands just after impact. I’m sure you can make this swing work but it’s very hard for me to feel like I’m generating power without putting so much force into rotation. And at that point, I have no idea where it’s going to go. I understand this swing for like 60% punch shots or chips but dont understand it for full longer shots.

      If you do it correctly I find you hit very compressed straight shots as face is so square. The harder you rotate body the more of a fade you’ll hit

    • @kdub3288
      @kdub3288 2 года назад

      @@georgeelliott1045 Yea I had the same exact question because I prefer a draw. What I don’t like (like you said) is it seems there’s a lot of variability with ball flight in how hard you swing. Obviously that can go with any type of swing but I got really good at hitting my lines with more of a rollover release without having to adjust for how hard I’m swinging.
