Snapping the tea towel is such a powerful swing image, haven't seen anything like this before. Will try to work it in soon, will comment if I can add a few yards to this 80 yr old golf swing (and survive the snap, lol). One of your early lessons, a takeaway drill, brought me back to the golf course a few years ago, and I'm still here. It was an instant fix at the time and it's a natural part of my swing now. All the best.
Here in Canada my club closes tomorrow... But what you show here makes so much sense to me! I've had trouble all year when I want to "put a bit more on it", I end up facing left of the target and I call the shot a "pull". Basically I'm spinning my hips out so fast that by time I release the club everything faces left. Posting the lead leg will be one of my winter practices. Cheers!
Never noticed this swing break before. I have always swung thru and around with a wide variety of results. This is a game changer for sure. Your site a sure winner for us more mature golfers. Thanks from NZ,
This is brilliant. I was struggling to understand ‘decelerating hand at downswing’ or ‘feeling pressure of ground thru impact’ to get more power. What I really like about how Chris explains this by focusing on core movement - hip rotation - not hands and legs movements that many others do. Well done.
Thank you so much, Chris! I'm playing golf for many years and never heard this.. I can't wait to go to the range and practice. Maybe this is the reason why my iron shots are shorter than those of my buddies.. All the best from Switzerland Stefan
Thanks, Chris. I am anxious to try it. One problem that I have is flipping my irons. I am wondering if this technique will have any effect on “flipping” in the golf swing.
Hello, well, what can I say ? Thanks the algorythm, thanks Chris ! I was just figured out this key yesterday. It just unlocked my swing that was broken sinvce 2 weeks. and was looking for some drill to work on this hand décélération. This is something such counter-intuitive. Hopefully working this drills will shave most of my topped ball. Manu thanks.
Chris, great video. I have tried it many times, the biggest challenge for me is, how to combined these "two steps" into a smooth swing. I always have to stop in between to get my form right. Any tips? Thanks.
Could you make a video to explain specifically what we should FEEL to decelerate the hands at the right place/time? Another great video Chris, thank you!
I can look to shoot something like this, the drills in this video are designed to help you create those feels however. My suggestion would be to go ahead and perform the drills and create your own feels at that time
Great video, I like how you're challenging myths lately. Question - is there risk this turns into early extension, i.e. stop/slow your turn and then release. How do you stop this?
Yeah there is a chance of that, having very little rotation generally means you will stand up too early, so as long as you rotate well in the early downswing you should be fine, but not east
Yeah that’s fairly common, the rotation shouldn’t stop just slow down, so if you push too much vertically it can stop the rotation, the vertical push should be up but also pushing you around into your finish position
For thr drill#3, why do I keep getting the advice to finish the "roration/movement" behind my head (completed the rotation) instead of just finishing pointing toward the target?
I’d generally like to see the finish full, relaxed with the club behind the head, this is more just a drill and would be hard for me to reach full speed this way, it’s just a good way to train sequencing and efficient energy out to the club head
Sounds like the rotation stops completely, it should slow, but continue to rotate through, if it stops and you push then you may gain height, so just works on pushing up and still rotating around, or easy to blend the two unfortunately
Be very careful as I tried this, it didn’t work and I hurt my knee.was so disappointed as I have been playing golf for a number of years I have got to 8.5 twice, but never been able to get off the tee with the driver so this is my last year playing every time I’ve gone for a lesson, the pros goes get your 6 iron out. I can hit my irons very well, chipping is okay putting is good I’m the worst driver, in my club, now realised I can’t beat it😢
Sadly, my swing doesn't do this. I'm an upper body guy trying to get my lower body and weight transfer working for me. I really like you channel.@@ChrisRyanGolf
Appreciate your content and making practical sense of parts of the golf swing. I’m a foot and ankle physician and amateur golfer; I have created a custom golf swing orthotic that provide stability, limits bad movement, and facilitates proper foot position throughout the golf swing. Initial testing is excellent, showing consistent increase in distance, swing speed/ball speed, increased spin with irons, and improved accuracy, closer to target horizontally and vertically. Would love to have some great RUclips teachers give them a try and share your thoughts in a video. We are brand new and looking for some valuable partnerships. Please message me if you’d like to give them a look.
Turn your hips .. no don’t turn your hips .. bow your wrist .. no don’t now your wrist .. drop your hands to shallow the club .. no don’t drop your hands to shallow the club .. have a stronger grip .. no don’t have a stronger grip .. I could keep going on forever RUclips golf coaches are the worst to follow tiger was right in what he said .. do not watch RUclips ……….
Hey Luke, I can hand on heart say that I have never contradicted myself in any of my videos, I may have changed the way I coach things a little at times, but the examples above do not represent my channel. Which part of this video do you believe to be contradictory to another?
Well he is just complaining for what he hasn't understood. If he has ever practiced seriously in this clip, he couldn't reply like that. I'm a single digit handicapper and still struggling to lower my number. Ryan is one of best teaching golfers. No more critical comments. Just try it.
Hope you enjoy this one! Any questions drop them down below and I’ll get back to you

Great lesson. Thank you. Who makes the white jacket you are wearing?
Thanks Brian, everything I wear is GFore so check them out, loads of good stuff in the range

Thanks and really hope the video helps, it’s a key move so getting this correct can be huge for your golf swing
Great stuff Chris, video saved for winter work! Thanks
Thanks, and yep good plan, winter work.
That's why an impact (heavy) bag is probably the best training aid in golf.
Good graphs, thanx!
Love a good impact bag… good for the swing but also for relieving a little stress! 😁
@@ChrisRyanGolf Oh, yeah!..))

Chris what about different match ups?? Does this work with all of the different variations? Some pro's square the club up with their body, right?

@@ChrisRyanGolfGreat thank you I'll try.
Thank you Chris. Class video mate, keep them coming!
Thanks Josh 🙏🏻
Can do this with irons. Much more difficult to do with longer clubs, like the driver.
Excellent presentation
Once again, Chris awesome tip!!!
Thanks Michael
Great video… thanks!! ⛳️⛳️🙌🏼
Thanks for watching
Brilliant Chris, thank you!
Thank you for watching 🙏🏻
Well done Chris excellent stuff 👏 😊
Thanks Roy 🙏🏻

Great tip but I feel like when I’m at the post up position my swing stops? It’s hard for me to get any follow thru ? Any ideas
Yeah that’s fairly common, the rotation shouldn’t stop just slow down, so if you push too much vertically it can stop the rotation, the vertical push should be up but also pushing you around into your finish position
Well demonstrated 👌👊👏
Great lesson tips...
Thanks 🙏🏻

Although this makes sense, how is this move different from "flipping" that leads to scooping the ball i.e. adding loft?
It’s not necessarily a different move just correct timing, decelerate too soon and you may well stall out and flip, timing
Is key
Well done😊
Thbaks 🙏🏻
I always tend to stand up when doing this and end up topping the ball.
Sounds like the rotation stops completely, it should slow, but continue to rotate through, if it stops and you push then you may gain height, so just works on pushing up and still rotating around, or easy to blend the two unfortunately
Is this why punch shots often take off like a rocket?
Had that exact question. Earlier this year had a restricted backswing due to a tree issue. Still amazed at how far I hit it.
So true, they always do, and yes often the things that you do in a punch shot really help
I don't understand it.
The bump is supposed to be slow to drop the hands into the point that we accelerate from. No?
Less is best. Thanks Chris.
Thanks Marcus

there are alot of good golf swing on you tube watch and learn some more
I’m always learning, and many places to learn from. Why the comment though, was there a particular section in this video that you disagreed with?
When you swing I can literally see your hands slow down at the bottom, the club flip through and almost pull your hands up.
Yeah once you know it’s there you can see it
Sadly, my swing doesn't do this. I'm an upper body guy trying to get my lower body and weight transfer working for me. I really like you channel.@@ChrisRyanGolf
This is physics; conservation of momentum
Not sure that term would appeal to the golfing population, but yep definitely physics 😁

Gold….rotate back…bump forward…rotate through….
Exactly!
That's the opposite of what you said isn't it? In the bump aren't the hands and arms quiet ?
Baseball swing.
I bloody well hope so. I’m putting all my eggs in your basket!
