Alex. Approximately 3 weeks ago, i found your videos online. I tried other online teaching. Kirk Junge single plane, Me and my Golf and Rotary Swing. Some good results but none worked long term. You are changing my golf game. I'm 72 years old, knee replacement and went from a 5 hcp to a 12. Today i shot a 38. Only had time for 9 holes. 1 birdie, 3 bogeys. My practice sessions are getting so much better and consistent. Especially in ball turf contact. I have implemented teachings. For me, the takeaway drill and this video have been the most beneficial. For anyone reading this, I would suggest the takeaway drill first and foremost. I couldn't get your instruction to work without a proper takeaway. After that, i put this in place. Great results. Consistent results. Perhaps, one day you'll organize your videos as a lesson plan. I love my progress and its repeatability. Thank you so much. I now understand why you are a top 50 instructor. Please come to Arizona and spend a couple of days with me. Haha. Great weather and great Mexican food. Thanks again
My club has 2 Fazio courses, and I know all the great Mexican restaurants. Plus, my winter weather may be a bit better than yours. No need for puffy vests and wool hats. Haha
Alex... being a senior golfer...this move will have us in physical therapy the entire season. I remember the days this would have been a piece of cake.... that ship has sailed.
I'm 63 with degenerated discs, bone spurs of the facet joints, etc, etc. But there are things I've learned to do that have helped me make swings which are healthier and put less stress on my spine. These mechanics allow me to make this right shoulder move Alex is proposing. His tip here is crucial for making contact on the correct section of the ball and club face and is not highly stressful on the spine if using the feet, legs and hips properly. I say not "highly" because there's no way around it, golf is stressful on the back to some degree no matter what you do.
Alex, the best part of these videos is how positive you are in your thought process. You maintain that EVERYONE can get closer to playing like a professional. Not equal to. Closer to. Anything that is substantially better than what we are doing is a beautiful thing!!! As a top 50 World Teacher, that is your secret sauce in the pasta. BELIEF. Without that, you will always place limitations on the level you can reach. I believe 100 percent in what you are teaching. It starts and ends there. Watch a professional player and you will see a tremendous amount of side bend in their swing. Rather than thinking about the entire structure staying down. Keep the bend. Then everything stays down automatically!!There are a few simple things the pros do that pre ordain good shots. This may be the greatest single swing thought in the game. Because it is probably the greatest flaw. Eliminate the biggest flaw and you will see the biggest improvement. Rather than thinking about everything in the swing, concentrate on the one aspect that makes the biggest difference. Stop chasing down blind alleys. THEN ANYONE CAN IMPROVE.
Excellent video. For years, (I'm in my late 50's) I've been standing up at impact, thinking that I was tilted, and therefore consistently hooking the ball. Keeping my tilt and incorporating the right shoulder to right hip tilt has dropped 15 strokes off my game. No lie. Thanks for the valuable insight.
Outstanding! I am 80yrs old. Played 6 practice holes today after viewing your video for the first time last night. Very well explained and successfully accomplished your lesson. Can’t wait to apply it again tomorrow in a match.
This is a move I've been trying to achieve for months but couldn't mentally visualise or create. This video really helped actually doing it!! Will be watching more of your content now. Thank you.
I wish I saw your video years ago. It really works. Extremely effective eliminating so many swing thoughts that just simply happen automatically. Unbelievably solid consistent contact. Thank you
Ive said it before, when im focused on a specific movement your videos somehow turn up and your pondering the exact same movement. Thanks again Alex and success always! Dr D
Alex Thank You I was halfway there you completed the move shoulder to the hip,I am 80 years play off 12 and now understand what I should do,my first round with side bend I was 4 shots better 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I worked with an instructor that had same theory to improve ball impact. Got me to a 5 handicap. Very simple process. For right handed players. Set up over all. Drop right hand and lean sideways until hand reaches right knee. That is your lean. Swing club. Simple.... It allows you to keep your right elbow tucked in close the the body creating a very powerful swing. I don't know why it works so well. But it does. And when i stray away from it, it starts to show on my ball impact.
I find creating a flatter swing on backswing and maintaining it on downswing or shallowing on downswing has the same effect and automatically creates the sidebend and forward shaft lean.
wow, I took this tip on the course today ( your video gave me the urge to play a quick 9 instead of a lunch break) and I hit like never before ! 😯 I will tape the screenshot on my bag, thank you AE !
Although I don't suffer with early extension, the movement in this video is exactly what improves my ball flight and striking, you give a great visual of what the motion needs to look like at impact. 👌🏼
Alex took this to the course today only for a practice and struck the ball so sweetly with the right elbow move video, never hit the ball this far , with my 8 iron , I hope it stays with me from a 50 year old golfer , thanks for the great videos
Properly rotating the shoulders automatically creates right side bend at impact. The upper body when functioning correctly is very much like a tilit-a-whirl action. Rotating and tilting simultaneously. Great video Alex, thank you!
That was not rushed at all 😊 I absolutely love your videos. I play off 7 but learnt my golf many years ago - your videos like this keep me current without confusing me - I also look forward to them so thanks 🙏
Just tried this at the driving range for the last two days and I noticed several things, but one thing really stood out. This one move made me realize how many other bad movements I had in my swing. In particular, how I would start the downswing by swinging too hard from the top with my hands. I actually had to slow my hands down to give my shoulder time to drop toward my hip. it’s going to take several sessions to work this into my swing but the shots I did hit solid felt like butter. Minimal effort and I’m getting the same or greater distance as well as accuracy. This is definitely a key piece to my swing. Appreciate this video. Thank you 🙏🏻
Excellent way of explaining this as most of us medium to high handicappers do struggle with early body extension and getting out of that power slot. Thanks for the help
This is a really brilliant tutorial as far as far as I am concerned. I've watched bags of videos to help me with this challenge and this has hit in the nail. Thanks Alex.
Hey Alex you really hit the spot with your videos. I live in the U.S.. and I watch your utube Chanel everyday. They have really helped me with my game, thanks for your help .
Alex, I've read how people say this tip or that tip has changed their game, and thought, yeah right, whatever!....and now here I am! The slack on string swing-thought was just a moment when the penny dropped, I instantly had a great mental image to prompt me before a shot. Ball striking improvement immediately, like a serious WTF moment, the added distance (with a much higher ball flight, softer landing ball) has meant I've added 40+ yards to my driving, 20+ yards to a 7 iron, with stopping ability...absolutely ridiculous improvement from a level which I've stagnated at for 3 years since I returned to golf. Yesterday, after 3 range sessions to hone it, I, an aged 50+ 18 handicapper , hit 12 greens in regulation & despite 38 putts (yikes!) shot an 84 on a 136 slope course. Goodbye to the days of the flat shoulder turn, hello slack string, dynamic impact position and smiling after I put one into a ditch crossing a fairway at 270 yards because even with a driver, I won't reach that! Just a massive thank you!
Hi Alex, i would just like to say how much I enjoy your channel. Your enthusiasm to help other golfers is infectious, you always have a smile on your face , and you are such a pleasant guy, You we’re definitely made for the role you play, and your teaching is fantastic. Keep up the great work. Regards Jeff
Yies, Alex, this motion really does work. Exaggerating it makes it feel like a disttinct motion, , the hip rotation and trail side compression. In slo mo you do have to rotate your shoulders. As part of the modern swing i sense hitting the ball with rotation similar to Chris Ryan's vidoe. The Secret to Efforltless Power in your Golf Swing. Again, a really valuable video
Love this! Most coaches don't talk about the downswing. This really helps me with a single downswing thought instead of the 5 I had before. Heading up to the range shortly to work on it. Really like the style of this video too - simple clear and passionate!
@Aleisha Ibbetson I've been to the range twice now, thanks Aleisha, and this is really helping me - keeping my right shoulder closer to my rt hip keeps my downswing shallow and allows me to rotate properly thru impact. Lots to work on but definitely feeling much better contact and direction :-)
Very nice video! This is defiantly the key to great ball compression! Over the top and standing tall is a normal golf swing that ends up making millions quit the game. You have to learn the side bend and hips clearing move if your ever going to have fun at this game! Again, thanks for sharing!
Good tip Alex. I have been achieving the same thing by dropping my right shoulder after I take my stance as I sometimes forget to do it on my down swing. I have also tried the opposite thought with my irons ie slightly dropping the left shoulder on the down swing to ensure I am hitting down on the ball
Alex, great video. I suffer from early extension and this is exactly the drill I need. You have clarified a practice pathway that I will definitely apply, thanks for your guidance.
Very very helpful for Driver Downswing. Thank you so much Alex. Could you please kindly also make Downswing video For Irons where we are supposed to shift weight on lead foot.
Amazing! I finally understand the right side tilt by bringing right hip and right shoulder close. Until hearing your explanation this morning I thought it was a very complex movement and one my body was having difficulties with. Concentrating on this simple thought and movement made an incredible difference to my game today. Thank you. 9:07
I feel like this is absolutely key to the golf swing. Everyone needs to really exaggerate it to really feel it. I feel like people don’t do enough of it. Even though it feels like your doing it
Had to lol when you said screenshot this position because I had already screenshotted and reound to screenshot again about 20 times, great feel and tip as always Alex💯
Took this one out and smashed a few drives down the middle. And even the ones that missed were ‘good’ misses. The only danger for me is I’m getting close to 90+ swing thoughts in my head. And we all know the secret to a good swing is ‘at the top of your backswing, keep your swing thoughts to less than 100.’ But, on the face of it, this one is a keeper. Thanks!
well explained Alex. I have been doing this drill for a while now. I don't spin out or stand up too early at impact. Great drill to practice and it will improve your game! Looking forward to the next golf tip!
@@AlexElliottGolf I am in sunny Australia and we are in our summer season, although we still had our Jetmaster heater on last week. I worked on this drill and then played around. I had a great day with my driver, but not with my irons. I realized after the round that I was so focused on getting to the right shoulder right hip position, I wasn’t weight shifting and moving and hitting down into the ball. Can’t wait to see how I play in my next round.
A lot of amateurs afraid of shoulder tilt because we are afraid of hitting ground first. Which is very important to shallow the club first. Let the gravity drop the club first before u fire open your knee, hip, and shoulders.
One of your best videos A classic to bear in mind for impact- get right shoulder closer to right hip with belt buckle pointing to target at impact. Very helpful. I was under the illusion one needed to be standing up at impact! How mistaken was that.
This is a great video. Thank you. on the range I was killing it. Took it on the Course today and kept getting my weight and my head going forward and was hitting most everything left, that did not go left was blocked right! 😢
This is an excellent bit of content. I am currently playing off 7 and these mental visuals do help you. I love this drill and I have to feel my left side stays still even though is probably doesn´t. Thanks
Sounds great. The big snag is the side bend. You have to be very flexible to get the side bend needed to make this move work. Older golfers beware. Only try this drill at low speed otherwise you risk pulling a disc.
Hi Alex, I’ll be spending a bit more time at the range practicing this before my comp round tomorrow morning. Keen to see what the over exaggeration does. Thank you. 👍😎🇦🇺
I’m finding that hitting with just the right hand is really good at feeling the right side bend and the weight shift in the lower body, but I am also thinking that some left side bend when making the back swing is also key as the upper/lower body separation needed in the downswing happens much more naturally. It almost feels like I am leaving the club behind me as I transition compared to my normal case of the upper body unwinding much faster as the lower body transitions.
I can see something happening but I keep slicing it right or shaking it I feel like I'm missing something but still really close. Thank you! I wish my past coaches wouldve showed me this.❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏
Alex, right should motion down a "push" from the right or a pull from the lead shoulder up. I am seeing different approaches on which shoulder is dominant. thanks
One of the best iinstructional vidoes on YouTUbe. Why. Compressing the trail side and extending the lead sode keeps your arms back at your trail hip. Now you rotate through impact for a full release. You will hit the ball further.
This really does work! I've really been struggling to hit the fairways with my driver all year and despite having some lessons, I'm still struggling and left feeling so despondent. I watched your video very carefully last night and went to the driving range today with it on my phone to try it out. All I can say is a BIG THANK YOU. I can't recall ever being so consistently straight with the big stick. Now, just one question if I may....... In your video, you use a driver. Could I ask, when using fairway woods and long to mid irons, then apart from the ball position and set up do the steps in your video still apply? If not, what changes are there please? Thanks again. Neil
Amazing! Good on you for working on it too. I have a video that i did a while ago on this here - ruclips.net/video/9O2bnQCXc9E/видео.htmlsi=kEu3YG07lAlvyaSq but i will defiantly plan to do one soon as i know this will help you and so many others.
Truly excellent helpful lesson....Staying with the shot is paramount in playing consistently...Right shoulder to right hip a is a great swing thought, especially on the range. Thanks..BTW, I subbed...
I understand that you need the feeling. Of the side bend. At 70 my flixability is shot. But getting closer to the angle is getting better strikes on the ball.
Alex, this is such a common problem for sure for a lot of golfers as well as myself. Do know what causes this thrusting tendency towards the ball? Sometimes I think it’s due to the side on sports vision aspects of this sport, ball positioning issues or ultimately last second effort to give a little extra force in the swing etc…self diagnosis is endless 😂I just can’t seem to remedy this humping fault unfortunately 😂. Great info as always.
Alex- this is magic stuff. For my money a key issue here is the head. Watch yours, it doesn't move an inch and stays central up to impact. You can't achieve this without side bend. Strangely back in the good old days the concept of maintaining posture and staying down on the ball was hammered home but the concept of side bend was never mentioned, not even by Hogan himself.
This cropped up in today’s coaching and I had share how to get into impact correctly 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thanks Alex. Great video. Makes getting into side bend much more sense!
Alex. Approximately 3 weeks ago, i found your videos online. I tried other online teaching. Kirk Junge single plane, Me and my Golf and Rotary Swing. Some good results but none worked long term.

I think this is the hardest (and most rewarding) piece of the swing. It’s where the battle of the hit instinct is won or lost imho.
Excellent way of explaining this as most of us medium to high handicappers do struggle with early body extension and getting out of that power slot. Thanks for the help
Thank you Alex, I feel like you made this video because you saw me hitting a golf ball. You’re awesome!!

what an amazing video, now you are my favorite on the internet. congratulations.

Yes I came to the same realisation and have been incorporating it in my downswing. My feeling is more of my forearm V working down and around.
I've early extended for years....I'll give it a try. Thanks
Thanks! Great Lesson
Thank you so much!!
Alex I think with this tip you solved my problem,I'll be trying this on the range tomorrow. Thanks

Excellent effective short and sweet video. It truly works.
Great drill Alex! Great image and concept. Much thanks.
Took this one out and smashed a few drives down the middle. And even the ones that missed were ‘good’ misses.
The only danger for me is I’m getting close to 90+ swing thoughts in my head. And we all know the secret to a good swing is ‘at the top of your backswing, keep your swing thoughts to less than 100.’
But, on the face of it, this one is a keeper. Thanks!
you’re welcome! glad this has helped
Thoroughly enjoyed the video! Thanks for posting. Right shoulder closer to right hip. We've seen Justin Rose do it...good stuff.
I just tried this at the driving range. I hit it solid every time. I left a few out to the right, but mostly his straight shots. thanks
well explained Alex. I have been doing this drill for a while now. I don't spin out or stand up too early at impact. Great drill to practice and it will improve your game! Looking forward to the next golf tip!
Hello
Rob!! Thank you I real let hope this helps you improve your golf this winter ❄️
@@AlexElliottGolf I am in sunny Australia and we are in our summer season, although we still had our Jetmaster heater on last week. Melbournions complain about our winter here but it is the best time to play golf here as our winters are mild compaired to yours. I lived in Holland for 30 years. Hope you cricket team improves their game!
I worked on this drill and then played around. I had a great day with my driver, but not with my irons. I realized after the round that I was so focused on getting to the right shoulder right hip position, I wasn’t weight shifting and moving and hitting down into the ball. Great drill! You have help my game for years with the simplicity of the game.
A lot of amateurs afraid of shoulder tilt because we are afraid of hitting ground first. Which is very important to shallow the club first. Let the gravity drop the club first before u fire open your knee, hip, and shoulders.
Love that analogy thank you for sharing with the team!!!
Wish i would have seen this video before the 10 thousand balls i hit but yes i finally did understand this. Thank you. Dead on explanation.
Thanks!
Thanks Alex. I tried that over the weekend at my club and i started hitting them straight off the tee, and some longer too.
Glad to hear this !
Might need to visit the chiropractor to manage this long term. Going to practice this over the weekend. The right shoulder to right hip I’d very good.
This is a powerful move, I have tried it, it really helps to hit the ball much farther!
Love to hear that!! Have you taken it to the course
Straight forward and not hard to follow. I like it.
One of your best videos A classic to bear in mind for impact- get right shoulder closer to right hip with belt buckle pointing to target at impact. Very helpful. I was under the illusion one needed to be standing up at impact! How mistaken was that.
Thank you Harold!! So happy to hear that this is going to help you
Good stuff! I'll give it a try.. Keep the vids coming.
It works for me all the way. Thanks.
I’m enjoying watching your videos. I tend to extend to soon and I slice the ball.
This guy is so practical. Great instruction!
Great drill and feel Alex...first class as it makes so much sense
Thank you David!! Great to hear it makes sense to you 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
This is a great video. Thank you. on the range I was killing it. Took it on the Course today and kept getting my weight and my head going forward and was hitting most everything left, that did not go left was blocked right!
😢
Thank U so much for this excellent video on how to reach the important impact area.
you’re welcome thank you for tuning in
This is an excellent bit of content.
Only try this drill at low speed otherwise you risk pulling a disc.
alex, i'm gonna try it because i do tend to stand up, thnx.
Nice tip Alex- much appreciated getting to the thought process with good demonstration of practice pre-swing
Sir excellent but please add about head position which keeps forward bending with side bending very critical in downswing. You need both.
Hi Alex, I’ll be spending a bit more time at the range practicing this before my comp round tomorrow morning. Keen to see what the over exaggeration does. Thank you. 👍😎🇦🇺
Good morning Marcus! Where are you playing today
I’m finding that hitting with just the right hand is really good at feeling the right side bend and the weight shift in the lower body, but I am also thinking that some left side bend when making the back swing is also key as the upper/lower body separation needed in the downswing happens much more naturally. It almost feels like I am leaving the club behind me as I transition compared to my normal case of the upper body unwinding much faster as the lower body transitions.
played 18 today and did this and was -1 just awesome thank you
I can see something happening but I keep slicing it right or shaking it I feel like I'm missing something but still really close. Thank you! I wish my past coaches wouldve showed me this.❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏
Alex, right should motion down a "push" from the right or a pull from the lead shoulder up. I am seeing different approaches on which shoulder is dominant. thanks
Superb video Alex, many thanks 👏👏
Look forward to trying it tomorrow in cold upstate New York!! As always good content Alex
I have been getting stuck behind ball with driver lately, will try this tomorrow. thanks..
Let me know how you get on
@@AlexElliottGolf Played 18 in cold windy conditions, not getting "stuck" with driver anymore with your tip..... thanks!
One of the best iinstructional vidoes on YouTUbe. Why. Compressing the trail side and extending the lead sode keeps your arms back at your trail hip. Now you rotate through impact for a full release. You will hit the ball further.
Thank you!
another well explained lesson Alex, really enjoy your content. 👍
Hi Alex - should you have the same feeling with an iron in your hand as well or is this a specific driver only feeling ?
yeah!
Good tip; will practice the move. Thanks.
Thank you for a great tip. I suffer from early extension...I hit a few grounders off the tee every round. Funny thing is I don't do it on the range!!!
Just got to make sure you get your weight off the right side. You should be able to take a step like Gary Player. Good lesson. Thanks
it sure looks easier. Thanks very much.
You are welcome! Thank you so much
Great video Alex.
Wonderful concepts and video Alex! Thank you!
Very well explained and showed for us.!
This is excellent advice. Thanks Alex
I understand that you need the feeling. Of the side bend. At 70 my flixability is shot. But getting closer to the angle is getting better strikes on the ball.
Alex, another great vid and an easy to follow drill. Thank you.
Thank you Chris!! Great to hear you liked the video
This video is excellent.
GREAT TIP BRO THANKS!💪🏾✊🏾💪🏾👍🏾
you’re welcome!
Love that idea Alex.
Alex thanks, tip for ensuring follow thru at set up?!
Great explanation Alex, Thank you !
Brilliant instruction!
Great video, an really simple thought to take to the range this weekend. Thanks Alex
Love that Paul!! Let me know how you get on!!
