I guarantee you these people know the difference, but just don’t care. No amount of facts or statistics or definitions will change their mind when the problem lies with them in their own heads and hearts.

Sometimes i think about the lesbians who fought for their rights daily and i think they'd be proud of the fact that young women like me can be who they are without the constant threat of violence.

I'm a bisexual woman and the term "spicy straight" sends me into a hellish rage. Like, I straight up want to punch my wall and flip a chair or two. People, especially other LGBT people, need to stop expecting bi people to prove it. Bi people should not be expected to prove that they're really attracted to people of their gender to every asshole on the internet to be taken seriously and feel welcome in the LGBT community. If a bi person is in a relationship with someone of the opposite gender, they're still bi. If a bi person isn't in a relationship, they're still bi. If a bi person hasn't been with a person of the same gender, they're still bi. If a bi person is more attracted to people of the opposite gender, they're still bi. And the idea that bi people are lower in the hierarchy than gay people because they experience less oppression is...God, I can't put into words how gross I think that reasoning is.
Also, bitch isn't a slur. Insult =/= Slur.

Just cause i'm in a "straight" relationship doesnt erase how i feel about women and enbies. I'm BI not gay, so no shit i also like men, i'm allowed to. If I was in a "gay" relationship i'd still like men, that's what Bisexual means

Especially the whole “pick a side” bullshit that people say, so many people assume that if a bi person is dating someone of the opposite sex all of a sudden they’re straight or if they’re dating someone of the same sex they’re gay and they finally “picked a side”?!? Like it doesn’t make any fucking sense atp, and it’s even more annoying considering that people think bisexuals can’t date those who are within the nonbinary spectrum. I’m not bisexual, I’m a black queer person and a lesbian at that but biphobia is such a huge problem within the queer community itself, wether it be internalized homophobia, transphobia, or some rando on the internet that has the balls to talk shit online but never to someone’s face.

Everytime I look something up about a queer identity I didn't know about (not a microlabel, but this happens ESPECIALLY when they are) I'm always led to hateful reddit servers. Like truscums or something? Idk, but it's always very telling when I go to the main page and see them talking about how depressed and dysphoric they feel. Of course that's something I wouldn't wish on anyone, depression has ruined me, but for them to go ahead and bash another trans person for not being [blank] enough??
I don't get them. Those people make me more afraid of being visibly queer/ambiguous than most straight people. That reaction may not be the same for everyone, luckily I haven't experienced a hate crime at least directly, but...yeah. Makes me go from wondering how I'd present if I had various clothing to wondering if I am ""spicy straight"".

  • @nirvanaheights

My biggest gripe with being 'visibly queer' is that it basically only applies to white people. It's dumb to think that all queer folk dress alike, but besides that, when I, as a Black fem get looked at, the first thing anyone sees is that I am Black. EVERYTHING else is secondary. The society we live in allows for white people to be the standard, and thus when you look at them, you can start to micro-examine and try to gleam whatever queerness you think might be apparent (which is ridiculous in itself, but I digress)
People get so defensive when I say something as simple as the fact 'obviously I couldn't hide my Blackness no matter what I do', in contrast to queerness and passing, and then here comes 'oh, it's not the oppression olympics!' Bro what? I never said it was?? Atp I think they're only saying that because they know that if we were to dive deep and start comparing our struggles, they'd have to realize that they aren't 'winning' a game that no one should want to win.

@@Lilith_is_better_thn_the_devil Quite a few problems with this. 1st, im not a Black man, dont know where you got the idea that i was avoiding identifying that way.
      2. it’s entirely arbitrary to set white people as the standard ‘because it is’. Regardless of your outside-looking-in-commentary on Black culture and its relation to masculinity, every individual Black person is still unique, and yet they are not judged that way. White people are. (in the US, specifically) AND THIS IS AN ISSUE (important)
      3. ‘even the women’… this is how i know for sure this is outsider looking in commentary. because trying to apply your non-black standard of femininity to Black women is ridiculous, because the standard doesn’t matter, and is- again- arbitrary. I could go and say that actually Black women are a perfect example of balanced femininity and ‘such and such race’ women are actually too fragile, but it would be fruitless to do that. As well, you’ve already set in your mind to judge Black women as a whole and compare them (as if that whole were one person) to your ‘standard’ which you’ve implied was white (women). WHICH IS A PROBLEM BTW
And you saying that while disregarding the rough history that shaped this upbringing, dismissing why there are these stereotypes about how Black women act that made you shape this narrative in your head about how our ‘culture is’…. You just shouldn’t speak on this so thoughtlessly. It’s not coming off very well.
TL;DR (the most important part here)
      4. to be specific you do not know what the majority of Black people have a culture of. it’s nice of you to support people breaking away from stereotypes, but doing that while putting those ‘stereotypical’ people down doesn’t help any cause. You just sound like an asshole. I think your heart was in the right place but this rubbed me all the wrong way, because you completely missed my point. White people are not a standard. if you think thats ‘just how it is’ then change your mindset.

I legitimately wonder, why did we think Twitter was a good online space? Usually online spaces are good because they self-sort by having niche side stuff people naturally filter themselves into or someone manages the community well. Why did we think that an app designed to communicate to basically everybody about their life, perverting the idea of blogging, was ever going to end well? Because we all can curate what we see? If there is a hell on the Internet that people like to describe, it is Twitter, before and after Elon’s takeover. Elon’s takeover is just the formalization of what Twitter is about - people spewing everything, expecting everybody to take it or force them to exclude the bad people, and then consequentially spewing stuff.

I can pass as cis and still be as trans as someone who doesn’t. I don’t need to split dye my hair, get a tattoo or wear ungodly amounts of jewellery and extremely expensive demonias. Me, passing as a cis guy in my hoodie and cargo shorts is the same as my friend who wears jewellery, dresses, has a nose piercing and dyes his hair pink. People really need to get it through their skull that queer people don’t need to be seen as “other” to be authentically themselves and nobody owes them any kind of presentation. People can look like anything regardless of their gender or attraction and it doesn’t change how valid they are in their identity.

biphobia is insane on twitter, and the racism on there is even worse. i’m so glad you mentioned the fact that yt lgbt people love to act like they’re the founders and gatekeepers of our community when they literally. take. everything from us. i hate that you had to deal with this harassment, but you and your partner are no less valid and you’re both super cute !

Some of the racism that occurs in the queer community is absolutely insane, especially when considering BIPOC have been at the forefront of LGBT+ rights time and time again. And yet some people just… forget there are queer people that aren’t white? It makes no sense

I never get how some queer people end up bigots, like where do you go wrong in life? How do you go your life being discriminated against and then discriminate against others, like you should know it's not good.

Also Idk wtf "visibly queer" is, like there is no visibly queer, it's not an identifiable thing normally, if you put a queer person beside a straight person, it'd prolly be pretty damn hard to tell. There are some queer people who show it on their sleeves, which is fine, but that ain't everyone.

honestly fuck the haters, y'all are cute together 👍❤. Also can we talk about how problematic saying "visibly queer" is? It's often based on yt standards of queerness, & experiences w gender are different based on culture. "Visibly queer" looks different based on ethnicity & each person is an individual that doesn't necessarily fall into stereotypes. & yt queers are often sayin that their "visible queerness" is the metric for *all* queerness, as if the rest of us don't exist or some shit -_-. I can honestly see somethin like this happening to me & my partner someday. I'm a Latino pan trans guy & they're Black pan afab nb but v fem presenting sometimes, so people might see us as a "straight couple". Which is why nobody should gatekeep shit. You never know who's queer & nobody wants to be interrogated or told to "prove" their queerness. Plus closeted people are a thing, maybe they wanna be an "ally" rn & aren't ready to tell people about themselves. Or maybe they're unlabeled & just vibe in that area. It's not anyone's place to scrutinize someone else's life or play oppression olympics over who has it the worst, like how they treat ace people, like oh you don't get hate crimed or somethin so you shouldn't be here. But anyways, keep bein yourself & don't let these bitches (lol) get to your head

After being out as bisexual you really start to see how messed up it is and how much erasure and casual biphobia happens in the queer community. It sucks when the hate is coming from what is supposed to be your own community

    • @therideneverends1697
      @therideneverends1697 9 месяцев назад +1

I find the best rout is to simply not say your bisexual as a guy. If you say it around straight people they start making inappropriate remarks and assumptions about your sex life, if you say it around queer people they either assume your just trying to get at bisexual chicks or, they start making inappropriate remarks and assumptions about your sex life.
So for the preservation of my sanity i just dont mention it unless it becomes relevent

I’ve been stressed out as of recent with my aunts view on my gender. I had come out to her and still ik disrespected and not given the same level of respect and understanding. She’s from another generation but it hurts. But your videos make me feel comfortable.

Honestly this issue of not being a visible stereotype of a minority has always been a trend I’ve noticed in minorities - and i’m talking ANY minority. As a somewhat bright half black half white biracial kid, I grew up with people telling me i’m not black and I’m not white from both sides because I didn’t - visually - fit into either race categories. One of my best friends who became deaf as a toddler was told they weren’t “truly” deaf because they have a cochlear implant. It’s so freaking stupid & I just feel like we don’t bring up the fact that discrimination and ignorance can come from both outside & inside a community.
