    My question is, will my ICloud account with its information overlap with my son's account on his iPad? Pls any help..

    • @ShepherdAtHome
      @ShepherdAtHome  Год назад +1

      No. Not if you have it set up correctly. He can have his own iCloud password on his device. And you have yours on your device. You’ll need to add his as your child under the “family” settings. Then, you’ll control his screen time on your phone.

    Thanks for walking thru the settings. Disagree that families are more broken than ever. Teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol introduction and abuse have all dropped since the 80's and early 90's. However what we are guilty of is parental engagement. Simply spending time and being present without judgement is where we can improve. Finance, feelings and how to move forward after errors and choices that don't produce a desired outcome is key. Divorce is up because communication is become redundantly transactional and we have dismissed personal growth for short term wins. All can be solved sans the damning with hypercritically claiming we're doomed more than ever. Fear is not worthy.

    911 Question: what's to stop them from creating a new Google account? And also how do I fix an iCloud account?

    • @ShepherdAtHome
      @ShepherdAtHome  3 года назад +4

      The bottom line is that as parents we can’t restrict them to complete morality. Kids will find a way around whatever we put in place if they really want to. It’s our job to just keep them from having immediate access & do what we can to guard them. Most importantly, I believe it’s important to address and lean into their heart. Why are they going behind our backs? Why are they lying? Teach them the importance of being truth tellers… etc. I’m not sure what you mean by “fix an iCloud account”. But I often suggest calling Apple with all iCloud questions. They are very helpful. I love the conversation!!! Please keep leaning in and giving it your best effort. If you’re engaging your kid with any of this, you’re already miles down the road to a stronger family. (Even if it doesn’t feel like it sometimes)

    • @ShepherdAtHome

      It should show up in your Notification Center. OR… check settings > screen time > then click their name. You might see it there. Sometimes it’s time sensitive and goes away. Have them do the request again. It should kind of come up as a text.

      Maybe someone else is set up as the “parent”. Go to Settings > Family… click the child’s name. See if it’s checked that the have to “Ask to Buy”… if that’s not checked, then there is no request. If it IS checked, then look at who the “parent” is… maybe it’s going to a different parent or maybe you’re not logged in with the same Apple ID that is registered to you as the “parent”. Let me know if that helps at all.

      Yes. Set an “app limit” for all of the apps. That will shut it down after the desired amount of time. You can also add certain apps like FaceTime, messaging, or learning apps to “always allowed” if you want them to always have access to certain things.

    • @ShepherdAtHome
      @ShepherdAtHome  Год назад

      I’m not certain, but I think they will need the passcode to erase the iPhone. If not, then it will be pretty tedious to continue to erase their phone any time they want to bypass the screen time rules.
      Which brings me to the point I’ve made in other comments… you can’t restrict them away from a heart problem. If they are willing to go to such lengths to avoid these rules, they have a heart problem. One bent on disrespect & rebellion. If that’s the case, they probably don’t deserve a smart phone. You could just get them a flip phone. Or… you might like to lean in with other discussions about what’s really going on in their life. A whole other level of parenting.
