One of the all time Greats is Felder his Guitar parts and all round playing and musicianship was essential to the Eagles they couldn’t have found a better player to fit their outfit, just a real shame the way things ended for me they were never the same without he’s Golden Touch on Guitar..⭐️🌞🙌
My daughter asked me about three months ago what is my favorite song, and I said, Pink Floyd, Wish you were here. That's only because of the words in the song. But then I said it's not the best song ever recorded. She asked, which one would that be? I said Hotel California. She said, great choices! And if anyone is in wonder of what the meaning of the song is, It's the cross over from innocence to experienced. You can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave...
Well, no Don Felder, no Hotel California, which would drop the whole band down one step on the ladder and made them a massive band instead of just a pleasant band -good but not interesting.

Felder is a phenomenal player... tone, taste, restraint. Same goes for Joe Walsh... his writing (and playing) brought life to The Eagles. It's a shame Henley/Frey were such pricks. But as they say, never meet your heroes.
Apparently Frye and Henley treated the rest of the band like employees. I don’t think they appreciated the talent of the individuals. The synergy was off the charts.
I’m new to your channel (I hope that’s correct terminology). This video is outstanding. I am 72 year old female. I loved music of Eagles, but really know little to nothing about the members of the band. I was very busy raising children and working as an RN, so I had little time for music during 1972 and forward. I am grateful for you. I am looking forward to all your videos. Fabulous work! Don Felder…love him now after watching your video.

@@theguitartemplepriest Enjoy your Moca Frappuccino! I actually saw Seals and Croft in Louisville KY, early 1970s. Would LOVE a video. I will share this awesome video!
Nice work. Sorta cranky last time (c delete) so while too much water under the bridge ('i'm 66, there) i have to give props Don. man, the most ear bending 'squanks' this side of the Rev BG for Already Gone. HC was great, too. too much bad blood.
I thought so too. Frey and Henley might have thought of Felder as threat and a competition that’s why they never gave Felder a chance to sing at least 1 song with the band. Felder’s brilliant talent was remarkable in every eagles songs but never given the recognition he deserved from henley and frey.
Um.... Felder, while a GREAT GREAT player was nowhere near the vocalist or lyricist that Frey (or Henley). It's lyrics and vocals that define a band. (This, coming from a guitarist that can't sing 😂) That said, Felder seems like a MUCH nicer person than those two.
@jpgar6066 there is a Glenn Frey interview with Bob Costas on RUclips, a few years before the 94 reunion where he mentions Felder as kind of an unknown asset to the Eagles
I find it interesting that you begin a video on the melodic playing of Don Felder that has him playing a solo that is officially being played by Glenn Fry (“I Can’t Tell You Why”). However, even though the “story” is that Glenn performed the solo in studio, he’s depicted playing keys on the video while Felder is playing the melodic solo seen here. Also, I have never seen or heard any evidence of Fry (RIP) playing the song on lead guitar or even playing in such a melodic style. I’ll go to my grave believing that it is Felder playing the solo on record.
There's actually an interview out there I've seen where Felder actually says Frey plays the solo. Felder said he and Walsh both took a crack at it but couldn't quite nail it and it was Frey who came up with the solo. Probably a case where Frey's limited repertoire of licks compared to the other two actually paid off. The simpleness of it is it's strength.
Henley will never allow it to big an ego shame Felder and Walsh awesome team . Travis Tritt is the best country artist ever great voice great performances love his music .
Hey John Bobby here Branson Rv neighbor. Been enjoying your vids. Thanks for your time. Few more guitarist worth making vids on in the future. Glen Buxton, Michael Bruce both original members of Alice Cooper. Another mention is Alice Coopers only female guitarist Nita Strauss. 👍 Hope you guy's doing good. Bobby Hi great to hear from you, It's cooler in Biloxi Mississippi if you can believe it, but we do like Branson a lot, Your one of the only people I took a photo of Holding My Guitar, Alice Coopers only female guitarist Nita Strauss now that sounds interesting, I could not believe Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top only got a few hundred hits yet Frank Marino got OVER 18 THOUSAND HITS. The real guitar hero let playing do the talking,,man 5decades later n still the best guitar duel,,sad thing about the eagles is nobody wants to be Ringo
Azoff and Frey are full o crap on this. What happened is Henley, Frey, and Azoff decided to ignore the contracts they signed in 1975 and split the money differently than agreed. Read Felders book. Sure, it's one side of the story only. But it does lay out what happened.
Yes indeed, and thank you for taking my side , I mean in those days as you recall No One ever saw the real faces of kiss. Well that's what he told the crowd. I wonder who won I'd like to speak to them , must be the guys brother or sister lol.
Angles were my. Band back in the early 70s graduated hs in 1973 where the eagles, Pink Floyd, grand funk, CSNY , the allman brothers, gentility giant, Black Sabbath, Uriah heap, foringer, bad company, Santana, beach boys, the who, the guess who, deep purple, some are a little later STEVIE RAY VAUGHN, Chicago, sultans of swing, bread, Jackson brown,, Linda rhonstadt, Carley Simon, the doors, Hendrix, it would take me all night to think of them all, in my opinion, todays music is colorless, emotionless compared to the lte 50s 60s 70s and 80ss wow Van Halen, but of all the guitarists i know every single eagles songs, if you notice some of the other reacts who i love all those guys have a style that you can pick out no matter ho they are playing with, oh yes before the eagles joe Walsh, he was amazing but you could always pick out his guitar playing, its lie when mick jagger dis a duet with i forget now everybody woukd gear it on the car radio saying isnt that jagger. This is not to criticize any other artist dut if you go through all the early eagles songs through 77, don Felder was a mash we, go ahead and pick out a couple songs where you might not have heard Felder before before but recognizes him, im not saying he was stuck in a style. Thats because don Felder who is to me a humble man besides the lies glen said about him, sure they wouldent sound like the eagles with out glen fry or don Hensley, but just as much after don took over lead guitar from Barney, the eagles got some balls, they could still put out a song thats a soft love song, but don Feilder, to me was the deep creek running slower cleaner richer than the more. Anyway try that listen too a bunch of eagles songs in a row, then try that with Stevie ray, or Santana, or Pink Floyd you’ll always pick out the lead pla. I wish i could go back in time to the early 70s and definatly less alcohol and drugs and just studied guitar order do Felder. Them kicking Felder ot i watched the history of the eagles. I love that video. The political battle is just like today the democrats cancel you i you if they don’t like your politics. Don Felder rightly looked t the eagles as a proper business. It’s hard work and long hours and the 2 hippies glen and Don Henley was giving the gigs away pissed don Feilder off . The band split up. They got back together with a Travis tritt sh. Anyway im a 68 year old guitarist played guitar since 1964 i can hold my own but im no don henly. Plus you have to agree all those songs they credited henly and fry for they’re color, but you’ll have to agree besides the tricky wonderful son gs and great vocals still the eagles would have never reached the heights THET did without all those classy thoughtful riffs.
I think Felder and Walsh were two of the best guitar players who played together extremely well . . . too bad that Henley/Fry were two jerks . . . JMHO . . .
Frey and Henley had talent. But so did Don Felder and he transformed the band into a supergroup...the perfect complimentary part. Frey should have acknowledged that and not shafted Felder out of his money. It is true Frey and Henley started the band. But there was plenty of money for everyone.
Felder simply asked G. Frey what everyone was making, what the Eagles were making and Frey at that point told him to leave. Seems that Frey and Henley thought that only they were Eagles...

The Steve Miller band… if He walked up to you and said hello, you wouldn’t know who he was.. and I read an article where he said that he likes it that way he can go to shows and no one bothers him
Frey's comment about Felder is the worst. Felder wasn't concerned about the money Frey was making. He was concerned he was getting gypped out of his share - a conversation Frey & Henley kept putting off year after year. . Frey was such a d***.
10:20 Sad Frey´s additude he had for his bandmates. Randy Travis´s 3-Wooden Crosses comes to mind: "It´s not what you take when you leave this life behind you; It´s what you leave behind you when you go". The one thing you do not want to leave behind is bad KARMA.
onne of the best parts of growing up in the 70's in California was all the great music, especially the Eagles. Don didn't get the credit he deservred but it really isn't possible for everyone in the band (or any groupd/business) to get the same $$$ and same credit. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't listen to numerous Eagle's songs.
Concerning Glen Frye and his gripe with Felder, in the end, Felder was right and it was PROVEN in a court of law, no matter what Henley and Frye felt 'entitled' to, they was a legally binding contract that they ALL signed. On principal, it was a crap thing to do and for money? My goodness, they were all making GOBS of it and that was the excuse they used to throw him out of the band? That never sat well with me nor the excuse that Glen used with the slander comment about a 'hippy commune', especially coming from such pronounced leftists like Frye.
One other thing guitar players didnt have a tenth of advantage later guitarists got regarding tone on tool. Yes they had goof fender strats and teles and of coarse the les paul standard, between the guitar and th nice tube amps well i only had a cry baby wah wah. @@theguitartemplepriest That solo is phenomenal! I would LOVE to hear the rest of it. But I can't find "save the world" anywhere. What concert is that from?
@@theguitartemplepriest it's "Turn To Stone" one of Joe Walsh's songs. He plays that solo at 04:23 (Turn To Stone) as well. There isn't any song by The Eagles titled "Save The World" that I am aware of. They released a song in 2003 titled "Hole In The World" (in response to September 11, 2001) but Don Felder never played on that song as he left the band in 2001.
It was Frey who asked him to join the band. Felder was just about to sighn on with Crosby - Stills & Nash. It was Nash who told Felder too "Go with the Eagles, you´ll be a full member and not some hired gun".
What a stoopid ass question, "when you recorded those songs (early 70s) did you have any idea..." Oh yeah, we knew it would be the highest selling album of all time...
Would there be any way I could contact Don Felder , I’m not a stalker . I’m a 68 year old retired electrician from a major power plant company . I’ve been playing guitar since I was 14 and I’ve never gotten much better than playing open chords and barr chords playing alone in my bedroom , I do know some about music theory and I’ve always wanted to learn to play lead guitar even if I only learn to play 8 songs good . Hotel California, Santana and a plethora of other songs from the seventies and eighties . I have two guitars, one is an Ovation with the thinner back , the other is my baby it’s a PRS Custom 24 Ten Top that I bought with the intentions of playing lead guitar . Not getting very far playing by myself and trying to figure it all out . I also have a small Marshall amp . If he would somehow get my comment and maybe offer to teach me some guitar I’d be so grateful to him . I also know some pentatonic scales but don’t have much luck getting them to sound like anything worth hearing . I would go to any place he would be willing to meet me and work with me some . I’m talking about I would work with him for months or as long as he is willing . I live in Florida about a hour south of Gainesville Fl . I don’t have much money but I’ll pay him something for his time . Thanks my fingers are crossed .
Felder and Walsh were young scrawny kids - a matching pair of bookends - where you gonna' find something like that - in a thrift store? - Only once in a lifetime, only once. Cheers.
The idea of naming the band "Eagles" came during a peyote and tequila-influenced group outing in the Mojave Desert. However, accounts of the origin of the name vary; Don Felder, who had yet to join the Eagles and was not at the desert, credited Leadon with originating the name when he recalled reading about the Hopis' reverence for the eagle,[18] while Souther suggested that the idea came when Frey shouted out, "Eagles!" when they saw eagles flying above.[19] Steve Martin, a friend of the band from their early days at The Troubadour, recounts in his autobiography that he suggested that they should be referred to as "the Eagles", but Frey insists that the group's name is simply "Eagles".[20] Geffen and partner Elliot Roberts initially managed the band; they were later replaced by Irving Azoff while the Eagles were recording their third album.[21]
Felder needs to be listed as one of the best guitar players of all times - incredible player

Must admit Felder is one Tasty MELODIC Guitarist so I Agree with you.
What can I say? Don Felder was, and still is a badass guitar player, period!
Great video! Well done. 👍👍
Thank you ever so kindly Mike, I certainly do appreciate that Sir.
Felder is so cool
No Felder, no Eagles.
Well, no Don Felder, no Hotel California, which would drop the whole band down one step on the ladder and made them a massive band instead of just a pleasant band -good but not interesting.
They brought Felder in to find a harder sound. Frey and Henley always wanted to be a rock band. Felder provided it and then some.
20:04 Wow ! Fantastic !
One of the best videos I've ever seen. Thanks
Hello , I just want to say a very huge THANK YOU for the kind words always nice to hear , I appreciate your vote of confidence in my video, Felder was and still is for that matter a great MELODIC guitarist. Again Thank you for visiting The Guitar Temple Great to have you.

Wow, a personal reply. Thank you sir. The reason I absolutely loved this video was it was so well put together and edited. That part when you showcased the HC HFO version and then so subtly blended in the 1976 Live concert version, was pure genius. Wow. I'm not sure if you did it all by yourself or with others but kudos to you and your team. It was lovingly put together with finesse. I absolutely love it. Thank you again.
I must say I'm not a big fan of some of the other artistes you have covered but I wouldn't hesitate to watch them on the strength of the quality of the Felder one.
Cheers
@@Anand_KL Sir yes Sir You deserve a personal shout out because Most people don't have The Back Bone to ever give someone a compliment because somehow they feel it takes away from them somehow, for me I thumbs up you for the positive strong character very appreciated, I am the only one who put this video in the constructed way that I felt best featured the main artist, I am Trying to get an Interview with the girls of The Warning we are trying for before the end of the year Nice Girls & Talented. Ok well I'm off to edit some new stuff. Thanks again.
❤ Very good show.
Thank you ever so kindly Ronny, I appreciate that Sir.

Hello , Happy top have you here. Thank you for viewing.
he is the best
Check out Felder playing with Walsh live during his Barnstorm years......my favorite of all time
killer
Yes indeed I certainly will.
Felder is a phenomenal player... tone, taste, restraint. Same goes for Joe Walsh... his writing (and playing) brought life to The Eagles. It's a shame Henley/Frey were such pricks. But as they say, never meet your heroes.
Joe Walsh isn't even close to Don Felder...in talent or reputation...unless you count drunken drugged out idiots as a good thing...
Apparently Frye and Henley treated the rest of the band like employees. I don’t think they appreciated the talent of the individuals. The synergy was off the charts.
Thank God Don, Glenn and Irving weren't involved in The Beatles formulaive years!
Oh my!!! Wish I was his guitar 🎸❤❤❤❤❤
Yes indeed Great Guitarist, Thank you ever so kindly for viewing a appreciate it.
This is so interesting
I’m new to your channel (I hope that’s correct terminology). This video is outstanding. I am 72 year old female. I loved music of Eagles, but really know little to nothing about the members of the band. I was very busy raising children and working as an RN, so I had little time for music during 1972 and forward. I am grateful for you. I am looking forward to all your videos. Fabulous work! Don Felder…love him now after watching your video.
Thank you eve so kindly Linda, always very nice to have someone appreciate my video, appreciate it indeed. Ah yes 1972, 1972 was a great year in music Seals and croft was big then, now that I mention it I might do something on them Interesting people. This conversation might have created a video coming soon. Thank you for viewing and Subscribing Linda & also do click the share button under the video and send to a friend and have them subscribe as well. Well I'm off to get a nice Moca Frappuccino, Thank you for viewing.
Thank you Glen, Good to hear from you again Sir.
Thank you for this video.
My Pleasure Sir, Great to have you with is here at The Temple, Thank you for viewing.
I always felt Frey was jealous of Felder. It wasn't until Felder joined did they become an arena rock band.
(This, coming from a guitarist that can't sing 😂)
That said, Felder seems like a MUCH nicer person than those two.
I agree
Of course it's Felder. I greatly admire Glenn Frey and his works, but he had a touch of that Jerry Lewis venom in him.
@@gavindadds4414 Interesting Indeed
@@gavindadds4414 Never heard Frey play like that.....but if Felder say´s he played solo on the piece...........
Frey & Henley just KNEW how GOOD FELDER really was. Then look at the Eagles now. When something really works don't mess with it.
I agree a billion percent, a lot of greed there also, anyhow thanks for viewing Stephen I appreciate it Sir.
Henley will never allow it to big an ego shame Felder and Walsh awesome team . Travis Tritt is the best country artist ever great voice great performances love his music .
“Frye, whatever the fuck is name is” 😂
Felder was a full partner. Not a side man. Irving's characterization of a Hippie Commune tells you that he was heavily on the take from Eagles INC
Hey John
Bobby here Branson Rv neighbor.
Been enjoying your vids. Thanks for your time.
Few more guitarist worth making vids on in the future. Glen Buxton, Michael Bruce both original members of Alice Cooper. Another mention is Alice Coopers only female guitarist Nita Strauss. 👍
Hope you guy's doing good. Be nice to chat with you if you ever make back down to Branson.
Happy about that but surprised .
@@theguitartemplepriest Wow am surprised about that as well.
Am not sure if Nita is playing with Alice at the moment, but that gal can definitely hold on. Have a great day!!!
great and iconic. underrated ever.
Very interesting indeed, Thank you I might do just that, I appreciate it and thanks for viewing.
You answered that trivia question right. For that year nobody would recognize Kiss. Well I don’t get it. Lol.
I think Felder and Walsh were two of the best guitar players who played together extremely well . . . too bad that Henley/Fry were two jerks . . . JMHO . . .
I hear ya, I'm a Felder fan myself, thanks for viewing.
Yes…I often wished they would have split from the Eagles and formed their own band
Frey and Henley had talent. But so did Don Felder and he transformed the band into a supergroup...the perfect complimentary part. Frey should have acknowledged that and not shafted Felder out of his money. It is true Frey and Henley started the band. But there was plenty of money for everyone.
I can agree with that, Glad you enjoyed the video Don, Don Felder Is a class act.
Felder simply asked G. Frey what everyone was making, what the Eagles were making and Frey at that point told him to leave. Seems that Frey and Henley thought that only they were Eagles...
I was wondering if I should sub or not. After watching a few videos, I noticed that you covered Estas Tonne and your personality is smooth. Both made Me sub
They call me The Breeze baby, Lol Thank you Mark, That's a Lynyrd Skynyrd Lyric I know you Know, But thank you ever so kindly Mark for the subscription I am trying to bring out the Personhood behind the music if you will as best I can, Estas Tonne I am so happy you knew who he was , Great Player Right. The Steve Miller band… if He walked up to you and said hello, you wouldn’t know who he was.. and I read an article where he said that he likes it that way he can go to shows and no one bothers him
Interesting, true also because I don't think Id recognize him.
I enjoyed this video very much! I've tried to find the Metal version of Hotel California by the Eagles. But I can't find it on RUclips. Please help
Thank you very much Henry Glad to have you here Sir.
I found it.
世界最高のギタリスト。
Frey's comment about Felder is the worst. Felder wasn't concerned about the money Frey was making. He was concerned he was getting gypped out of his share - a conversation Frey & Henley kept putting off year after year. . Frey was such a d***.
Felder was the greatest Eagles guitarist, not close
Must agree Jeff, there is a lot to be said for the word Melodic, I have a video posting today at some point see ya there Sir.
Walsh is also pretty good but yeah Felder reigns supreme
I agree,..but...Bernie Leadon was pretty good too!
10:20 Sad Frey´s additude he had for his bandmates.
Randy Travis´s 3-Wooden Crosses comes to mind:
"It´s not what you take when you leave this life behind you;
It´s what you leave behind you when you go".
The one thing you do not want to leave behind is bad KARMA.
What song is the solo at around 5:00 minutes from?
That is a Joe Walsh song I Believe not sure but I Think its from You cant argue with a sick mind album
Found it, turn to stone.

Ok this is fucking nuts...holy shit...
onne of the best parts of growing up in the 70's in California was all the great music, especially the Eagles. Don didn't get the credit he deservred but it really isn't possible for everyone in the band (or any groupd/business) to get the same $$$ and same credit. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't listen to numerous Eagle's songs.
I Can agree with that statement, Felder Is a good guy also. Thanks for viewing.
Felder deserved the same $$ because he was an officer of the corporation. You can't just fire him or underpay him.
@@lylecampbell9036Interesting, I believe your right.
It wasn’t until near the end of the 70s and early 80s did tons of stomp boxes many times designed and produced by a single audio engineer all analog boost boxe. Today my favorite setup is a line 6 duk dt 50 tube ano and i currently use a line 6 by Yamaha. The line fry helix which is the flag ship board for line 6 if you choose im looking for the 2 part kit with the rack mount amp section and a matching foot controller, for about 2200 bucks your options . There’s the original line c floor helix. Line 6 now owne b Gaelic
What is this song beginning at 15:57... it's wonderful !!! ❤❤
Save the world I believe Sir, Thank you Joe for viewing I appreciate it .
@@athanstreitz9178 Great research Sir Thank you for the heads up I appreciate it, thank you for viewing as well .
Don must be a very good lead guitarist. Frey and Henley didn’t like him but they must have him in the band.
It was Frey who asked him to join the band.
Felder was just about to sighn on with Crosby - Stills & Nash. It was Nash who told Felder too "Go with the Eagles, you´ll be a full member and not some hired gun".
👌
Frey got greedy and forced out an unbelievable talent in Felder. DF made that group a super group.
He dose seems to be a good guy to be honest.
What a stoopid ass question, "when you recorded those songs (early 70s) did you have any idea..."
Oh yeah, we knew it would be the highest selling album of all time...
Duane’s and Greg’s band *The Hourglass* was good, too.
I certainly agree Gary, I will do a video on them soon. Thank you for viewing.

Yes indeed great guitar solo collaboration
They're not called "The Eagles," They're called "Eagles"
