Honestly i don't think there will ever be another fandom like the bronies. It was such a strange whirlwind and perfect storm of the right conditions to form this giant fandom that i don't see ever happening again
I agree it happened due to the right conditions. Mainly the main condition being the story writer of mlp in gen 4, because let's all be honest if it weren't for Lauren Faust then a massive chunk of the mlp fandom wouldn't be part of the fandom at all. Also whoever was the animation designer of said gen 4 of mlp. Such a situation of when a writer And animator blend so well together is rare. That being said the question at hand being could bluey be as big as mlp gen 4? I think it has the high potential to yes, will it? Only time will tell, there's a few things to take into consideration on a vs topic as such. Mlp has been around for a long time. There's fan documentaries, even brand documentaries on the series. A Netflix Documentary was available not too terribly long ago that gave Hasbro's history with the mlp franchise how it came to be and then eventually how it took off with the wings of the pegasi from the show. So prior to gen 4 there already was a "fan base" but the gen 4 of mlp changed the format of the entire franchise, so much so that they're currently "trying" to replicate it to some degree in gen 5. Gen 4 added things to the franchise that the earlier generations of the show ignored to add or implement into the show (not saying this is 100% truth but seems to be the case from my observational standpoint) things like character development, a longer story that takes more than one episode to traverse through, continuity, etc. Also again the Ponies went from "ehhh" to freaking adorable and works great for toy figures! (Gotta keep in mind it's Hasbro)
So with prior fans and heck 3 generations of a prior show to work on and add to Mlp gen 4 would be hard to beat.
Bluey only has one generation of a show with a fan base that's fresh and new for the show is fresh and new. That being said, whilst both shows main targeted demographic was for children, both shows have a sub demographic they're targeting as well, only the sub Demos are the main big difference.
While bluey lacks lengthy storytelling with continuity, which is one of Mlp selling points to fame. Bluey (like most kids shows) has a short story within each episode that ends within the same episode, however the writing team for bluey is on point, so far I don't feel like I've come across a "bad" episode sure there have been a few that weren't 100% my flavor but the episode wasn't ever really bad. And to have these amazing stories be wrapped up in half the time it takes for a full run episode of mlp? Smaller world less characters, yeah sure but writing still be on point. Bluey is also a realistic rendition on human life in a loving household. Whereas mlp is a fantasy story.
Honestly there's just a lot to say. I've already typed out a bit.
Mlp targeted audience= kids, preteens
Actual audience=kids, preteens/teens, young adults, some ADULTS
Bluey targeted audience=children
Actual audience=children, teens, young adults, Adults.
Mlp has a bigger continual fandom of children, preteens, the older crowd are mainly there for nostalgia they may try the new gens as they come out but they aren't there for that.
Bluey has a fandom of children, parents, and then those that interact with children on a more than average amount to have gotten to see the show. However it's still growing where mlp has kinda plateaued least for now.
Will bluey be as big? Probably not, unless it goes over 5+ generations of redo work, continually pushing out product by it's producer with toys and gadgets and boardgames (Hasbro)
Will bluey be as big as in like # of fans? That's where the true maybe but hard to say question for me is. Due to the fact bluey not only grabs children but also the parents of the children, on top of young adults, or people who want children etc. I do feel the number of fans could very well match if not out do the mlp fandom numbers.
Will bluey fandom have or do as much as mlp? Being on the border of being a brony (brother is one so even though I don't really interact I see and hear a lot of what goes on) I don't feel there will be any bluey conventions or anything of sorts like that no. I feel bluey even though enjoyed by teens and young adults here and there I feel the main two demographics it hits prevent it from being a show to bring those things to light from the show.
@starddust5898 I can meet you with the understanding of story telling, but the artistic style of the shows I feel has less impact, or maybe more inverted impact, than you may feel. Most people can get past the visuals of a show due to content of the show. You say box shaped or simple shaped as if it cannot gain or access a large fandom simply due to this. I ensure you that isn't the case. Look at something like South park, I haven't personally checked the numbers, but I'm pretty sure south parks fandom surpasses that of mlp. Visually speaking MLP is by far a much prettier and visually pleasing show than both that of bluey and/or South park as I've mentioned both now. With things like that in play my overall assessment is still the same. (Even including the storyline of mlp, have you seen the many many correlating things that bluey includes in its episodes to better connect to the audience watching?)
My assessment. Bluey May (key point may, as in maybe) hit numbers higher in fans than mlp, that's said. It's fandom will not do as much and/or be quite as adventurous as that of the mlp fandom with cons and such, even if the numbers surpass that of the MLP fandom.
I mean, ı'm not saying "bronie fandom is perfect" there's bad stuff in fandom, and good stuff too.
But any of that explicity wasn't near to Bronie fandom, Bluey fandom is just more worse

I started watching MLP on my couch sans internet influence, but I assume I'm an outlier in that as far as "Bronies" are concerned.
If a bunch of weirdos invade the Bluey fandom and post unavoidable NSFW and/or creepy shit just like bronies did with MLP I’m gonna be very upset.
Hate that I have to say it, but the mistakes of the Brony fandom has prepared more people to make sure it dosen't happen again.

The MLP fandom went to great lengths to make sure adult works couldn't be easily found by children. There was literally a whole ongoing campaign for it. Time to let it go.
Blue isn't exactly going to turn anyone furry unlike MLP, which I still don't understand and imo MLP ruined e621 for a solid 3 or 4 years having to sift through that garbage, there is literally nothing attractive about MLP characters or designs they all act like children and they have the bodies of plastic horses.
Its already happened, and worse. Bluey's main problem is the amount of ince$t r@pe porn specifically. Theres some minor fans who have reported getting harassed by adults to draw gore pics too
I see Bluey being too wholesome to not be tainted by the toxic side.

Back in 2021 I believe a youtuber from Australia was talking about the show and then I watch all of season 1 and I was hooked.
And I got my husband to watch it with me.( one episode got him out of a bad mood)

I'm really happy there's some good content for young children out there. I've seen some of the more brain rotting cartoons and it's good there's people out there who actually care about what Yung children consume
Been in the Brony fandom for 11 years now, and seeing Bluey take off really makes me happy. The history of the Brony fandom is huge and very different depending on where you stood. FOr me, the best memories of my life. For others? Maybe the worse. But I think Bluey can be like a... better version of the Brony fandom in terms of the show itself. Not to be boastful, but the "lighting in a bottle"-ness of the brony fandom can't really be recreated cause of how the internet has changed. Maybe I'm wrong? But man, the amount of content that came out of something so small. I'll be amazed to see it happen again. But that's the activities of a fandom, the actual content that brings everyone together? Hell,. I might even put this ABOVE MLP for messages. MLP was simplistic and touched on basic but good topics. Later on went to more... adventure stuff. Which is fine! But Bluey has done better at what me and others said MLP did, which was be a show for everyone. That's why I think it might be even better for a "Wholesome" fandom. Bluey fans are fans of their respective show more than Bronies, ESPECIALLY nowadays. I call it "Furry MLP" for a reason, and it's been great watching it myself. I hope for news fans' sake, watching this show sends them on a journey similar to mine... just watch where you step. Great video and great points. I agree basically across the board.

Its nice to see Bluey be something more than generic kids slop and from my experience growing up, when you have to babysit kids YOU have to watch what THEY watch. So the fact its not so one dimensional helps. As for the whole Brony thing lets help the people who grow up to enjoy bluey don't become... weird. I will be interested in seeing what the creators will make in the future tho.

I honestly think not.
The Bronies started on 4chan, adopted a "F*ck All" Attitude and flipped the middle finger on society in general, amassed millions of fans, created hundreds of websites, some of which still have over 20000 active users at any given moment (see: Ponytown), created thousands upon thousands of art pieces, billions of words of fanfiction, (Yes. Billions. 2,534,821,262 words at this exact moment in Fimfiction, but I bet a few more dozen thousand will be on tomorrow. And that isnt even including unlisted fics.) and the internet at that point devolved into a serious anarchy state with ponies being nearly unavoidable at any corner.
Given the current circumstances, I don't really think that is possible any more. Also, I hate to play devil's advocate here, but I visited the Bluey subreddit a while back, looking for some opportunities to try and help them out with their artistry scene. (Writing, because I'm good with that) and...
The sub's rules dictate no swearing, but that was nearly broken with how absolutely pissed off those people were with me. I was essentially told to F*ck off without being told that explicitly. Maybe that was just an anomaly (Well, a few hundred given the comment count) but they seemed awfully hostile towards fan works. And in general, they were toxic as fuck. All of em. just straight up hate. Something, that I have only ever seen in r/MyLittlePony over the past 4 years from haters raiding the sub
On the case of Bluey's aversion to fan works: Fan works, were exactly what made the MLP fandom so vibrant in the first place, and set up the potential for unlimited generations of art, stories, and music that the MLP fandom still produces today. Without the ability to have people trying to contribute to their own fandom's pools of works, the flourishing of that fandom isn't possible. Every other post on the MLP sub is some fan work, and currently from my scrolling, it is rare to find a fan work on the Bluey subreddit. It is all just episode discussions.
The show's writers will eventually run out of ideas, and if the Bluey fandom grows up never having any activity in their fan works, then what is to keep them occupied? Repeated reskinned episodes from a few years ago?
And given some trends I've seen with their community on Reddit, (which seems to be their only central stronghold at this point) they are incredibly toxic to outsiders (people who make it known that they watch the show but have no kids). I've seen it firsthand.
I know I am taking an incredibly critical view on the fandom, and I regret doing so, but if it does capture lightning in a bottle like MLP did, all the variables of the community should be assessed, the goods and the bads. (And it looks like most of the people have captured the good) Also, given the heightened political discourse in the world, Bluey is bound to get into more and more controversy (Which people are a lot more sensitive to now.) In essence, the Brony fandom started off of an Anarchy Bullshit website and turned into world domination, and the Bluey community has started in people's living rooms, with still most of the attention to the show, even after 5 years of it existing. By the five year mark, the most prominent things in the Brony community were the absolute masterpieces of fan content such as "Lullaby for a Princess" and it's counterpart, "The Moon Rises" which are two fan works which I hold in my personal #1 Spot for the most incredible fan works EVER.
I don't exactly see the type of internet enveloping pony insanity with Bluey currently. If I don't look for it, I won't find it. In fact, I only ever find it if I look for it. And with the Bronies, well, hell! I found a literal MLP horror game playthrough on Markiplier's channel from ten years ago. (If anyone doesn't know who Mark is, he is one of YT's biggest gaming youtubers. Over 30 million subs right now I believe) I would have NEVER thought Mark would be the one to see MLP stuff, but there! I found it.
Even if I didn't look for ponies, I'd get em. Full force.
So in conclusion, I believe the craziness of the Brony fandom can't be replicated unfortunately (or at least not right now.). The best we can hope for is just that the Bluey fandom encounters less bumps on their road, and enters a stable state in good standing. (That took the Bronies a while too... But they've settled down. And although some of the older community has dissolved, they still are in the high echelons of fandom population and near the top of fandom activity. High hundreds of thousands in population, I can safely bet. They're also a LOT nice than back a decade ago. I can say with 100% certainty some of the nicest people I've met are active bronies in the fandom right now. They're amazing people.)

This is a pretty dang good video and should have a lot more views. I've been meaning to watch Bluey for a while now and this video makes me want to watch it even more. I do think the brony fandom now is a lot more chill, but yeah I agree even though I wasn't exposed to it, back then the brony fandom went bonkers.

Your channel is my favorite and I’m glad you reviewed the creator had worked on another kids show Charlie and Lola which was similar to bluey in some cases too which I’ve always loved as a kid I’ve been inspired by shows that put in effort and emotional maturity while maintaining a fun and wholesome atmosphere one day I hope to create a channel for all ages with shows created by the heart and experience like the creator of bluey 🌟

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah, some of the stuff goes really far.
Even as a former brony seeing this show pop up around the internet was strange since it seemed like the target audience was specifically preschoolers, while mlp was aimed at the family abroad and all. But seeing some clips i can see why people are giving the show respect. Quality content is quality content no matter who its aimed at. Glad the crew who works on it gets to work on something people of all ages seem to enjoy around the world
I think Bluey will never be much more than a good TV show that people enjoy. If you look at what made people stick around for the pony stuff (to this day) it isn't the show but the unfathomably massive amount of fan content, from art and animations to fanfictions and music, and everything else that's out there, and the sub-sub-communities of all that - I don't think this could happen again, the 2010s internet culture made the stars align.
Don't let the bad side of Fandom ruin the love things you love like show or movie or a book or a game

Charlie and Lola you might want might want to give it a try too that show is another one the creator of bluey was involved in and it seems to have a similarities of writing to bluey dealing with many life obstacles too in smaller ways than others yet is relatable especially for a brother and sister bond

Stumbled upon this after watching Starfox and gotta say, respect for not outright deleting legacy content. Seeing Bluey crossover into horse cons lately, and can definitely say it's a small demographic in comparison; even after all these years. A bit of a personal question, but do you ever occasionally feel strange not having the community as a place to fall back on and identify with? Moving on, I definitely find myself feeling a bit of dysphoria; almost like when you graduate and move onto whatever you've chosen. You know there's still a party going on back there, but it's just not for you anymore. Whatever the case, I'm thankful it happened and I was a part of it.

I hate that it's this long after the show friggin' ENDED and some people can't stop hyperfixating on how supposedly awful bronies were.
Yet some are trying to bring cringe culture back from the dead. Just saw a video about Bluey fan cringe. Some of it is understandable cause of gross pictures, but the video also show adults just normally enjoying the show.

You're right, cringe culture is (or should be) dead--so maybe it wasn't the best idea to use so much footage from that cringe culture video where a pair of assholes go to an MLP convention for the sole purpose of mocking and harassing attendees and openly creeping on any hot women they meet there. Something they've also done at other cons simply because they peaked in highschool and want to pwn the nerds.
Oh I’m fully aware of the context of that footage. The anti-brony movement could get just as toxic as any of the worst stuff within the fandom itself. It’s important to acknowledge it as a part of the fandom’s history, but I do not endorse or like what those guys did.

I also feel it's worth mentioning that the Bluey fandom forming was due to parents watching the show with their kids which got the ball rolling for other adults including ones with no children or teenagers who enjoy the show unlike Bronies who spawned from adult men liking MLP.
Pray for Bluey and her family even for all their friends everybody.
I'm a Bluey fan but my passion in life is math and art to a certain degree but mostly brain enhancing activities, I don't scream like a little girl when the show comes on but it is a bit heart warming and more than anything reminds me of what a miracle it could be if I decided to have kids.
I'm not super jacked up on fursonas and have actually been doing everything in my power to break free from gross sites and stuff like ''rule 34''. Which is an unfortunate result of what I was able to get my hands on at a young age.
Over all though its ''because of '' the pure non sexual aspects of bluey that I like the show and not despite it. It gives me a break from the uncanny sexual tension I see in a lot of shows with ''so-called furry characters''. And I don't know why but to me there is just something unusually hedonistic about yiff that I don't feel in regular porn and I'm not sure why that is. It just feels very over the top and gross.
It always bugs me when there’s a loud minority in anything, because people outside of a fandom will assume the whole fandom is like that.
I got into MLP when I was around 13/14, and i loved it. I watched the show, bought toys, and yes…watched a bunch of RUclips videos from the fandom. Some were traumatic, while others were genuinely great content. As for Bluey, I’ve heard about it, watch a few episodes, and enjoyed it. I still need to catch up with the show tho, I’ve got a lot of things to watch. Overall…it doesn’t matter what gender or age you are, enjoy your cartoons. Just don’t be a toxic jerk, or a creep. Simple as that.
Correct me if I'm wrong but i believe that Bluey also airs on one of the BBC networks which explains (at least to me) a sort of charm that it has.

I can compare my love for Bluey to Zootopia, I don’t like them because of toxic reasons, I like them because they are really good. On top of that, I don’t praise them like they’re better than Jesus.

As someone who was the target audience of MLP FIM i remember bronies telling me the show wasnt for me, and were generally aggressive, and cruel.
Bluey fans on the other hand seem sweet and don't mind younger fans, which i appreciate!

Is Renny Ultrafox the Next Scott the Woz?
Both shows got popular for being well written kids shows, but the draw is almost opposite.
MLP takes you on adventures that give you a moment to forget lifes problems, while to a lesser extent showing ways to deal with them. Its absolutely full of lore and with that comes ample room for debate about how the fictional universe works.
Bluey on the other hand focuses on how to deal with everyday life. The characters may be dogs but they live in a world parallel to ours. The only real debatable lore I can think of is if they evolved from monkeys or wolves, and I don't think most people care the answer.

I think we will never experience another fandom like the Brony fandom because it broke the social norm. Liking something that weren't meant for your demographic has become much less fringed upon, at least online because something like the LGBTQ have become drastically bigger since then. Society wanted both genders to behave how the've been defined as and mocked people for going out of their own boundaries, but that's for the most part a thing of the past. I'm not saying only gay people like MLP, I'm saying that toxic masculinity (and probably toxic femininity if that's a thing) are only left in a small and loud minority of people.

Yeah mlp was unavoidable at a time when I was searching for like some of my favourite songs on RUclips I have seen some with My Little Pony pictures words that music as well I have watched cartoon reviews at the time and I have a seen some My Little Pony ones after seeing all this and herring fat adults are watching it I decided to watch it around 2019 and 2020 I thought that My Little Pony was ok good to watch just to chill out it was like something from my childhood even though I haven't watched it as a kid it had a bit up early 2000 vibe to it and I have watched videos to do a toxic side of the fandom and I had meat some funny stuff and to speak about her bluey fandom been like the my Little Pony fandom I think what it is with the My Little Pony fandom is fat people hardly heard that adults were fans off the kids show and as it been in people's faces I think people had lost interest in the brony fandom and are not too bothered about people being bands of bluey

I couldn't watch bluey because my Mexican mom despised the show but my dad was fine with it but he never cared about cartoons anymore plus i only managed to watch only four episodes of it.
as a brony who likes bluey i think there is a fandom overlap but i dont think it will ever be the same.

I think the real thing that set a different precedent was context around both shows
Bluey came out of the gates as its own thing, it being good was great in and of itself; MLP had had 30 years of mediocre garbage piling up, then FiM came outta nowhere and got people thinking "Wow, this terrible series is actually producing something worth caring about!"
