Forget about the doors, man. First and foremost, a muscle car is the blue collar revenge. Many think the Ford XB GT351 Falcon to be the best looking. It is truly great to see Americans and Australians share something good and pure together. I miss those days so much.
Four doors here in Aus are definitely muscle cars! (So are some Utes In my opinion.)As you obviously enjoyed the look of the 79 Ford Cobra, Eric Bana made a documentary about his experience building his 79 coupe as a young man and the restoration of it over time. I think it’s called love the beast? It’s a beautiful car and well worth a watch. Great review JB. Go Blues!
In the mid 80's I got to drive an xc interceptor 351 with top loader & 1 tonne twin plate clutch , never forget holding the clutch at the lights , left leg shaking in anticipation . Awesome vehicle .
I'm a FORD fan (girl born '61) too. Dad came home with Brand New '68 Silver Ford XR? Fairmont station wagon, OMFG l fell in love! Have been ever since. I drive one of the last Aussie made Fords G6e fgx with rare camel leather interior rather than black. A sophisticated lady but Oh the muscle of a 6 speed sports engine is still there when you choose to use it!
Australians gave us Canadians INCENTIVES to "fire breath" our True North performance spirit, too!!! An' I have a VH Valiant Charger, and Viper powered VJ Valiant Regal wagon that I road race in New Mexico, with a few INITIAL D touches to boot ...
Yeeeah!!! You just can’t help making a nostalgic groan when you hear the pipes on those legendary cars. 2 or 4 doors doesn’t matter it was all about “The Vibe”. (Aussies may recall the movie where “The Vibe” comes from. The Castle! Iconic Aussie culture flick)
Mate you are bang on 👍😁 Cars of today all look the same ! Back then each car had character you could tell from a mile away coming down the road that’s a Mustang or a Camaro , Monaro or GT Falcon 😁👍 Love your Vids 👍 And yes 4 doors can definitely be classed as a Muscle Car As you can see our Aussie cars had strong influences from the US 🇺🇸 😊
13:52 I love the Ford Cobra. As a young teenager, I was a mad field hockey player. I owned a small car, and a friend worked where I use to fill up with gas/fuel. They needed a fill-in to play indoor cricket, and I eventually succumbed. It was a mixed side of guys and girls. I used to get picked up from home in a car like this every week from then on (I could bowl over arm (my uncles used to play with us as youngsters and they did not believe in being lenient, so we had to get competitive quickly). I ended up teaching the other girls how to play. We used to all climb into that car after and head to the pub, all 8 of us. I met my hubby, who was in that side, and the rest is history.
The Phrase 3 GTHO Falcon was for a time the fastest 4dr production sedan in the world!! The XC Falcon won Bathurst at least twice, 2dr 4dr they are MUSCLE cars!! NO question!!
muscle religion is alive and well here.. cars were designed and made by man not a computer you could attain 500.000 miles with little maintenance not like modern JUNK Keep up the good work fell. a love ya.. cheers cousin
Cars were once designed by human beings with taste. Now, they just feed all the data in & the computers spit out the exact same designs with a different badge.
Cobra coupe. My mates older brother had number 036. The funny part was when he took us for a spin in it. Some kid had spilled a milk drink in it and the interior stank to high heaven of sour milk
Most Definitely Aussie 4 Doors are Muscle Cars and some of the UTE's as well and later model wagons "Torana's Commodores Monaro's "Ford Capri GT we made it Tough " , Our 4 Door Cars are not massive tanks like some of the USA gear "love those as well" 🍻Good Vid Cheers 🍻 Throwing the Sub from Downunder , Cheers Mate
Thanks Johnny. Good stuff. You're spot on about the sameness of modern cars and motorcycles. My perfect motorbike? A bare bones, air cooled, twin shock motocrosser. I'd pick what make it was instantly. Modern road bikes are like modern cars. 😀🇦🇺👍
Whether you consider it a "Muscle car" or not, the Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III was the fastest production 4 door sedan in the world for many years. In fact nearly ten years after it's release, in 1980, it ran the quarter mile faster than the brand new ferrari 308 GTB at 14.8 seconds vs the ferrari at 15.3 seconds. Aussie muscle cars are king my guy
Never was the 'fastest 4 dr". The Benz 6.3 beat it. And the over rated and overpriced Get This Heap Out always has to have the '4 dr' tag. When you think of the Mopar muscle you could get for the price of the GTHO.....
back in the day They raced Bashurst on sat/sunday. It didn't matter who won. Holdeh/ Ford . The next day you could by the winning car with 90%of specs . Maybe look at the GTR XU1 or AX9 Holden these are true muscle cars
Muscle car is anything with big v8 or 6 cylinder in Australia case. power and loud exhaust and go fast. even Australian utes are muscle cars and more so then big tanks of US pickup trucks as handle just as good as a muscle car or even some sports cars. Australian Holden SSV VF ute has a Nurburgring lap time of 8 mins 19 seconds..
I appreciate your enthusiasm, but dont be taken in by this AI sketchy misinformation. The E49 Charger didnt have a lighter hood, didn't have thin window glass, and , as far as I know, only the tail housing of the gearbox was aluminium. The Chargers triple weber carburation was developed and tuned to the Hemi 6 engine in Italy by Weber . The "Australian " Hemi 6 , " D engine" was designed by Dodge in America , and was intended to be a replacement for the Slant 6 engine in Dodge trucks , but the project was shelved, and picked up by Chrysler Australia as a replacement for the slant 6 in Valiants for 1970. The Valiant Charger body was designed in Australia by the American Dodge/ Plymouth designer Bob Hubbach, he and other American colleagues also designed the rest of the VH Valiant range, sedan, station wagon etc. The Chargers manual gearboxes are American, the ones fitted with Automatics were made by Borg Warner ( American brand) , as was the differential rear axle. So it was more of an American car manufactured in Australia really. The quoted 109 mph for the Valiant AP6 273 v8 seems a bit lame , Iv'e had a slant6 AP6 up to 116 ish mph , before I backed off. As good of a car the racing Chargers were , they generally didnt dominate in Australia because they didn't have a high enough top speed to outrun the v8 Falcons on the long straights , but they did dominate over the Falcons ( and others) on the tighter New Zealand circuits. That video was a mish mash of photos and film of cars that often weren't even relevant to what was being discussed.
I like your show Mr Basement, but this particular video is not from an Aussie source and is AI at its worst. Most of it's facts seem to come from a from a foreign , non car version of Wikipedia. lol
@ I’m sorry you have been subject to my rather WEIRD sense of humour! A mussel is a sea creature, however muscle is a muscle in a human body or muscle car, being a VERY tough car! I’m sorry again my mother always told me I had a WARPED sense of humour! Maybe you have to be an Aussie to understand! Definitely no offence meant! Peace and Blessings to you and yours from Australia. P.S. I have ADHD!
@wendyryder2708 he is a Aussie and My son finally thought he found some one he wanted to watch he has a brain disorder shit for brains that's not funny your just a (A HOLE)👎👎👎

The Valiant Charger was my dream car at 5 years old. Couldn’t believe how good it looked. Still does

Back in the day, we liked sleeper cars. Hence the 4 door stuff. Looks like a family sedan until you open the bonnet.
Mate you are bang on 👍😁

No mention of the Torana GTR XU1?

once in 77. the cobra flopped big. good because it is ugly
* always has to have the '4 door' bit. And it never was. The Mercedes Benz 6.3 was faster than a tarted up Fairmont with a crate motor.
If a four door production car wins *Bathurst* then they are absolutely muscle cars!
muscle religion is alive and well here.. cars were designed and made by man not a computer you could attain 500.000 miles with little maintenance not like modern JUNK Keep up the good work fell. a love ya.. cheers cousin
YES! If it's an Australian 4dr it is❕
Cars were once designed by human beings with taste. Now, they just feed all the data in & the computers spit out the exact same designs with a different badge.
Exactly
Love that car johnny.raw power.also:: nice shirt (priest rules!!!)
4 doors are muscle cars for the family. I used to love dad doing a wheelstand in his phase 2 HO after droping me off at school.
Cobra coupe. My mates older brother had number 036. The funny part was when he took us for a spin in it. Some kid had spilled a milk drink in it and the interior stank to high heaven of sour milk

For sure, four doors can be muscle cars. ✌
Very nice cars, I would buy

The 1971 ford falcon gtho phase 3 was the best car to ever come from australia
In 2024, a 100k Cobra is either on its last legs or is fake. They fetch well over 150k for a reasonably good one. The 5.8 version well over 200K
They build some bad rods down under!
It's awesome that you love Aussies mussel cars but I think you need to look at our Leyland p76 and the parts that it can take
Muscle car is anything with big v8 or 6 cylinder in Australia case. power and loud exhaust and go fast. even Australian utes are muscle cars and more so then big tanks of US pickup trucks as handle just as good as a muscle car or even some sports cars.

Today's cars have absolutely no personality, no style ,no class.
Look into the au falcon or the ford barra engine
Booom that car is worth allot
Yeah, my brother had a Datsun 200zx with a4 cylinder. Might have been a240zx
I'm Aus
Look at the Holden torana
As an Australian I don't like the AI voice, any many of the point's stated are suspect.

4 doors can be muscle cars
And they all have a massive Holly or Weber or
That must be an old video because ford cobra fetch more than 500,000 as of 2024
Muscle makes a muscle car not how doors it may have yes a coupe is nice but a HO xy GT 4 door unbeatable in Australia
I like your show Mr Basement, but this particular video is not from an Aussie source and is AI at its worst.

Thanks for your insight and for supporting my channel on multiple vids of mine! Appreciate it Rassskle😎
Falcon Cobra struggled to get out of it's own way. It would have left nothing in the dust.
Man today's cookie cutter cars don't even compare.
when are you gonna come over to visit your cousins ??
New York Yankees are done johnny
That channel you're watching is so full of incorrect information, I'm sure it's A.I. content.
