  • So yesterday was meant to be an ocean fluke trip but the bite was slow so I decided to turn this trip into a Slow Pitch Jigging (SPJ) technique I've grown to fall in love with. Super effective for sea bass, ling(red hake), mackerel, cod, sea robins, blue fish, amber jack and of course tuna.

Thank you! I'm heading out tomorrow out of Belmar. I picked up a Slow Pitch Jig today at Sportmaster over by the Tacony Palmyra and this video was exactly what I was looking for. Subscribed.

@@PhillyGirlFishing Not a bad day but not great either. Got 4 Sea Bass, a nice ling, and a blackfish to keep. Caught some smalls. Hit some rocks and lost a couple bucktails and teasers...the water was really rough and there were more than a couple trashcan huggers in the cabin but I was able to get through it without getting sick so there is that. Overall it was a decent day out on the water.

Wow !! Been on the Gambler more times than I can count. Always used Gulp, squid and spearing. I have to get some jigs for the 2024 season.
    Great video !!

Thanks Ray! Sometimes I just love tricking fish into grabbing these metal jigs. Adds a little more fun for me. Tight lines and let me know how you like it this season 🙏🏾

Slow pitch is my favorite. I ALWAYS get a fish that blows my mind... that's when I actually get a fish (trouble don't last always, neither do fish bite always lol)

Lolol exactly! Like if nothing else is working I can usually get a fish slow pitch. Plus it helps shake me out of boredom if I haven’t had a catch in a while. And I love that it’s not as strenuous as vertical jigging.

Back in the day we'd go out with huge diamond jigs and cat h 20-30 sometimes 40 lbs Cods and Haddock. I love jigs

That’s so true those diamond jigs do work 🙌🏾. Thanks for watching

Awesome vid. No one can deny the effectiveness of slow pitch jigging, especially for ground fish. I feel like its the natural evolution from the diamond jig
What size jigs do you like using in the North East?

    • @PhillyGirlFishing
      @PhillyGirlFishing  Год назад +1

Agreed! Bottom fishing with jigs is so much more fun than with bait lol. Generally I’m using 60-120 g for things like sea bass, porgy, mackerel for a number of reasons: we aren’t fishing that deep (150 feet or less most times), not that much current and I want smaller jigs to match the hatch of the bait those fish are eating. If I’m tuna fishing in 300 feet of water in the northeast I may start with 250 gram jig and work my way up or down depending on conditions. Same for when I fish down south.

@PhillyGirlFishing thanks for the awsome video , I'm just starting to learn the slow pitch jigging method , what size slow fall jigs you'll recommend for inshore porgy fishing ? And wen will you have a porgy fishing video with the slow pitch jigging method ?

Hey, great job slaying fluke in Brooklyn! What rod reel combo you using, I was thinking of getting a penn bait caster reel- what’s your favorite? Good info in your videos! Thanks.😊

Thanks!! So in the Gypsea video I was mainly using my spinning setup but baitcaster wise you can’t go wrong with the Daiwa Tatulas, Shimano Tranx or Penn low profile reels. Even my quantum accurist gets the job done for Fluke and sea bass. All depends on your budget homie 😊 Thanks for watching!

I was looking for the same jig but no luck, any chance you can share color and store if you don't mind.
    Thanks

Hey the first jig was a Maxel Dragonfly 80 gram. I got that from Fisherman’s Hut. The second one is an Oceancat 80 gram jig from amazon. Good luck because I can’t find the Maxel anymore.
