Our clients for this project in Sammamish, Washington, weren't just looking for an entertainer's dream backyard; they also wanted a space to keep their active family engaged. They envisioned a place to relax, entertain, and enjoy the outdoors, but with the added challenge of incorporating a sports court - all within the confines of their existing property.
Their wish list included a covered porch, fireplace, TV, BBQ area, fire pit, and, most importantly, a space for the kids to play basketball or pickleball. They also loved their existing plants and wanted to maximize their use in the new design.
Our landscape architecture team thrived on the challenge! We transformed the space by replacing the high-traffic lawn with low-maintenance synthetic grass, creating a durable entertaining area perfect for both relaxing and playing. A cleverly designed built-in covered porch with a fireplace and TV provided year-round enjoyment, while the BBQ area and firepit offered ideal spots for grilling and family gatherings. But the real showstopper? A strategically placed multi-sport court, tucked into a corner of the yard, allowed the family to enjoy friendly competitions without sacrificing valuable entertaining space.
