I just happened to find one at Savers for 10 bucks. It was a lucky find .Lately I had been looking for one and it just happened to be on top of the clothes rack.Fit perfect ,no tears everything is there only normal fading after some 50 plus years of wear and tear.I wore one in boot camp in 1968 and in Germany.I never cared for wearing one after I got out of the Army but have fallen in love with them now that I am 71. I sewed on my old 1st Cav. patch on the sleeve.
Yes, M65 field jacket. The best jacket, period! My Dad gave it to me when I was 17 yrs old. Now I'm 56 yrs old. Went to the wash a few, tags gone. Still works.
nice video. i have a 1968 M65 jacket. bought it at an army surplus store 1985 for $15.00 when i was 12. worn it throughout high school and college until i was 24. nowadays it sits folded in the trunk of my car as part of my emergency/bug out kit..
The M65 jacket is one of these things which simply make your life better. You can wear it on pretty much all occassions and not only does it look great, it also feels great, is warm when it's cold, is cooling you down when it's hot. It's durable, rain isn't a problem for it. I don't have the original alpha industries version but the Helikon one. Still absolutely amazing. Hell, many people who had both say that the Helikon version, even though way cheaper, is also a lot better than AI.
Nice this Jacket is like New, i had one from 67 XSmall Regular i think it was from John Owenby or Saw Sew Styles with Patches on it US Army Tape, Name Tape 18th Engineer Brigade SSI and 1 Infantry Division CIP but this Jacket was pretty f....d up, really worn especially the end of the sleeves where pretty destroyed
My grandpa just found one in his mom's attic a year or so ago. And I had been bugging him about giving me his that he went through hell in. He gave me the mint one, that had been folded and in a sealed box for god knows how long.
Ok, so tell me when was velcro invented and used on military clothing? Worst thing they did if caught on something you can hear it rip off, especially at night time, we always replaced ours with buttons!
lol i found one of these with the blob camo in field pattern for only $10 in fair condition its a little faded and a few strings stick out, any idea what it would be worth?
are you talking about the button on the left side that when it zips is on your chest? because ive been wondering the same thing because i have 2 of my dads one is a 1967 with his patches and stuff and the other has nothing on it but is a 1976 and then i just bought one that is woodland with patches and stuff from 1982 and it has it as well so... what is it for O_O
does anyone know where i could get an actual pattern for one of these jackets. i know i could buy one but i kind of want to add a few features of my own onto it, so it would be kind of a waste for me to buy one, i kind of want a tailor feel to it too, so it fits just right.
@@AnthonyDavis-is9bc Hey thanks! I appreciate the heads up. Oddly enough I ended up getting an m65 that came with a liner at a surplus store just like you suggested. I lucked out...sadly I have since posting the original question 7 years ago have gain 25 lbs and no long fit :-( I appreciate your advise.
This was the low point for the field jacket. It was sloppy looking, no crisp collars, Velcro of all cheap things, and that hidden hood that looked like someone ran over it with a semi when it was taken out of being stuffed between the shell and liner. Just awful.
I have a black Alpha M-65 Field Jacket,It's very pretty and warm, but I want find a black hood..Did anybody know M-51 park's hood also can use on it? Or where have can use on M-65 Field Jacket's hood(black color)THX!
marchingpackofCeHS Did you found out how to use it? I think it could be used for a flashlight like the german army flashlight. You can button it on your jacket with the leather strip from the flashlight.

In terms of what are the helikons better at?
Helikon looks like genuine vintage M65, colour, fabric etc.
Much better than civil Alpha Industries.
Best copy.
Great show, best help to identify the original! Many thanks from Germany.💚
Very nice. I got the same one back home. Cost me $5 from the charity clothes shop. Best bargin ever.
my dad gave me a coat 20 years ago just like this one.
Mine was also made in ‘67! Not sure if it’s an Alpha though, it isn’t listed anywhere. It’s DSA number is 100-67-C-0683
That "I'm God's lonely man" look.
Planning to get this. It looks so good on Derek Reese ( Brian Austin Green ) in terminator the sarah connor chronicles.
