I normally can't stand shows where the character is a complete a-hole, but this show works because of how the antagonist of every episode is worse in comparison to Dan, making him more sympathetic and a character you want to see emerge triumphant. Plus, its entertaining to see how Dan's hot-tempered personality clashes with Chris's meek and timid personality and Elise's no-nonsense and sensible one, allowing for interesting character development and dynamics to flourish. If anything, modern adult animation should try to be more like this: have the main character who can be an a-hole (cuz apparently that's funny nowadays) face an antagonist per episode that's even worse then them by comparison, give the main character allies that have differing personalities like a shy character, a no-nonsense character, a silly and dumb character, etc., and create an episode from there.
I think that the writers have a great balance of giving him positive character traits to keep you just invested enough to want him to win. Sometimes its in the form of making him be really talented in some obscure skill, or it can be where he just assumes there's a conspiracy and there really is

One episode showed that Dan once wanted to avenge Elise, however when he saw her fighting skills, he quickly changed his mind, so I doubt this would ever happen
Actually this show works so much better TODAY than it did when it aired. Looking at our society. (Karens, Toxic Fandoms, etc.) we are seeing characters like Dan, Chris and Elise nowadays than ever. So no. Dan Vs. doesn’t need to be rebooted, but rather Resonate.
It should be revived and continued on with a couple extra episodes for season 3 and a whole season 4, like Max (formerly HBO Max) is doing with Clone High; ended in 2003 after 1 season, revived 10 years later with S2 and S3

I thought about Regular Show, (Well, to be clear, I only watched a few episodes of it) and our friends Mordecai and Rigby's boss, Benson, being such an angry, self-righteous, maniac of a talking gumball machine, usually turning red coloured, being so angry and yelling at, and/or threatening to fire them every now and then, makes me angry back at him, mostly on the episodes "Prank Call" (when he destroyed the house phone after they prank called him), "Replaced" (partly the ending), "The Best Burger in the World", "Wall Buddy" and "Paint Job" (both beginning and end). I thought about Regular Show, (Well, to be clear, I only watched a few episodes of it) and our friends Mordecai and Rigby's boss, Benson, being such an angry, self-righteous, maniac of a talking gumball machine, usually turning red coloured, being so angry and yelling at, and/or threatening to fire them every now and then, makes me angry back at him, mostly on the episodes "Prank Call" (when he destroyed the house phone after they prank called him), "Replaced" (partly the ending), "The Best Burger in the World", "Wall Buddy" and "Paint Job" (both beginning and end). And it made me see, and I did a drawing of this with who I am about to mention and Frank Murphy from F Is for Family having a go at Squidward from SpongeBob, himself and Captain Underpants' ulter-ego Mr. Krupp (in his movie appearance), if Dan was in Regular Show, and he had Benson to annoy him with his anger, yelling, rants and, of course, firing threats, and he, one day, had enough of it, following one incident on something he wants or not, and Benson finally gone too far, just as he did, like I mentioned, in the episode "Paint Job" (again the start and end), this is one angry cartoon boss he'll surely get revenge on: 3:44-2:15-6:56*!!!
