that's crazy to have only noodles for 3 meals , I only have noodles in the morning, for me there is no best noodles, but what's fantastic is you always have quite a few noodle selections
Chengdu is a very leisurely city. It is both modern and ancient. When you come to Chengdu, you will live very comfortably because there are many delicious foods and leisure places.
I think Chengdu noodles are the most difficult to eat in Sichuan, I recommend you to try them in small cities around Chengdu (Ziyang, Leshan), you will open up a new world of noodles.❤
You bet it was so fun to make this vlog! It looks so yummy and I’d love to go to Chegdu but I’m vegetarian I can just imagine the ball ache trying to find or explain no meat no fish no seafood with No Mandarin/Cantonese 😬 I have been looking at booking flights this week though 😊 it won’t stop me 😂 Thank you it’s been lots of fun Sabrina🇫🇷🇬🇧
easy to find restaurants for veggie in chengdu. a lot of veggie restaurants and you can also call for veggie version also, just say 我吃素不吃肉 wo chi su bu chi rou. all will be fine. good luck!
It was so fun the best day ever! There are loads of vegetarian dishes in China so wouldn’t worry too much but I would try and look up some helpful phrases if you did. My friend on Instagram is called Vegan in China she has lots of helpful advice and dishes recommendations for vegans.
Nico, love this video, the down to earth approach to food exploration is fabulous..... you two look amazing in this adventure.....I am from Italy, but I suspect it is thanks to ancient Silk Road that both Italy and China have a shared tradition of noodles.
Interesting what Jack said about the numb spice being used correctly in Chengdu. Lived in Chongqing for a year (lived in Xi'an for 10 years before that), and I found they used that spice so much that it overpowered the taste of everything. One of the reasons I left, actually. It just got boring because it was overused everywhere. Moving the Chengdu in August.. looking forward to tasting what you've shown here. Any recommendations for Chengdu hotpot?
the "PUGAI" noodles place's chiaken or non-spicy "ZAJIANG" are actually the best, it might be the fact that they were selected to michellin guide of Chengdu, the non-spicy local noodles might be the only factor to say if the place is really good or not for the locals who really understand the shit
Nice video but I beg to differ, personally i found chongqing noodle is much better than chengdu🤣!! And even better noodles are in northwestern region, such as Lanzhou.
haha each to their own I guess. I didn't really find much variation in Chongqing only xiao mian where as I found so many types in Chengdu but maybe I wasn't looking in the right places. Ooo interesting another person also said Lanzhou. I'm familiar with Lanzhou beef noodles but nothing else from there so if they have lots of different types then sign me up! Noodles all day every day!
Not trying to be cheeky but it is sneaky of you posting the prerecorded contents in the cool English summer while we are watching them in the scorching Chinese summer. It is not fair folks. Come back to China!! Ian from Scotland is still staying in his post in Beijing's most unforgiven heat wave for decades.

I think the best City for noodle is still Xi'an. But Noodles for Xi'an are quite everyday food there, they are everywhere so not every one looks fancy although they are quite tasty. On the other hand, you will definately find way much more varieties of noodles in Xi'an (actually greater Xi'an area). Probably you need a local guy to guide you what and where to try in Xi'an.
Hi Nico. Do you know some places in China where to go if you want to know sometnig about hisotry of chinase music. Some Opera, Theatres, music festival and places like that. I havent found any yet and if i have it was written in chinase charcters and i didnt understand a shit. I have to describe a 10-day trip to a place in China where Chinese music was created for school project.(including prices of tickets, timetible and stuff like that) It must have 20-30 pages and I don't even know where to start. I would be very thankful for any tip.
Hi, I’m sorry I don’t know anything off the top of my head without researching. But you could look into the history of Chinese opera, where it started the different types etc and organise a trip to those places in China. China also has lots of interesting instruments that aren’t as known in other places around the world you could look into where they are popular and made. A lot of towns and villages in China are famous for certain things so I’m sure one would be famous for making a certain instrument. Sorry I can’t be more helpful but I hope that gives you some starting points.
我老婆是四川人,跟着她吃了很多不曾吃过的美食,包括各种面试。四川美食真的让人无法抗拒
This is one of the most interesting episodes in Chengdu. Kudos to you.
I love this video purely because I'm a massive noodle fan!!
