Can you believe this is the FIRST cordless Ridgid Band Saw to come out?
The Ridgid 18-volt Compact Band Saw, Model # R8604B, is designed for two-handed use. The Ridgid band saw has a 2-1/2 cutting capacity and is considered to be compact. This compact size with a good amount of cut capacity means the Ridgid R8604B should handle a wide variety of applications.
The Ridgid R8604B compact band saw features a variable speed dial. This allows for better control when cutting through a variety of metals and materials. When you use the correct cutting speed, you actually work faster and dull up fewer blades.
→ 2-1/2 in. cut capacity and 32-7/8 in. blade used for cutting threaded rod, black pipe, PVC, conduit, unistrut, angle iron, and wood
→ Variable speed dial provides 320-680 SFPM
→ Lightweight design
→ Integrated rafter hook
→ Tool-less blade change
→ LED light illuminates
→ 100% Compatible with all RIDGID 18V Batteries
→ Lifetime Service Agreement with registration within 90 days of purchase

Man, I love my Ridgid tools!
You probably dont care but if you guys are stoned like me atm then you can watch pretty much all the latest series on instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my gf during the lockdown =)
@Anakin Valentin Yea, I've been using InstaFlixxer for since december myself :D
Thank you so much! I can always count on you guys for the best information on all the tools and equipment that I might consider buying! Always a double thumbs up
I got a dumb question. I've never used one of these. Can you cut mitres with this? For example, that square tubing he cut in the beginning..... could you cut that on a 45 for a nice weld fit?
It's probably as accurate as you are. So theoretically yes, but realistically there's a ton of room for operator error.
Steel should really be cut at the lower speed for best blade life, and it seemed a bit underpowered at low speed. I didn't hear you mention M.S.R.P. ToolCraze says "fall 2020 and will be priced at $179 as a baretool." Hard to beat that Ryobi deal I got with two batteries and a charger for $100!
just bought one with a 3" mini saw for $179
thanks, was thinking about it for the future purchase.
I am anxious to see you test the new DeWalt atomic band saw. I think it will be very limited with the 1¾ cut. Even the old compact brushed version is 2½. I love my 5 inch XR but it is pretty heavy.
Could you explain more in what situations you would use different speeds?...with examples, thanks!

Amazing thank you!
Do the 32 and 7/8 dewalt blades work in it
My sub-compact they are all awesome i was thinking to get one of this band saw but all companies only makes for right handed again there is two people in the world one lefty and righty i like better to see what I’m cutting talking about safety they should implement that application.
But does it beat the ryobi ??? It's only 150.00 an mine kicks quality ass everyday
I have a new fully charged battery and new blade(I used it before it worked great), and it won't start ??? any ideas as to how to trouble shoot it? or just return it?.
Return it. Some Ridgid tools have trigger issues and it is not worth fighting long term.
@@WorkshopAddict Ty sir
@@WorkshopAddict did that new one works liked a charm.
@@PipoCollins register that bad boy for the warranty
Fantastic video you guys
How does this compare to the dewalt dcs371? I'm in both platforms and leaning towards the ridgid. Thanks
Both are nice. Power is hard to judge in a band saw of this size. Both will do the same work. It is all about the ergonomics and control location preference. In this case, I like yellow.
Idk if it’s just my bandsaw but the blade keeps popping off. Any suggestions? Could it be my wheels are just used up or something?
Mine too brand new
Thank you! Good info!
i have been waiting forever and never thought that ridgid would come out with a band saw. i do wish it could at least cut a 2x4 in half. still i just bought one
How is it bro? Worth it or nah. I’ve heard a lot of bad reviews but I have a lot of ridgid batteries so thought I’d bit e the bullet. Let me know
@@timo3683 I'm very happy with mine. It really depends on what you feel like you're going to try to do with it. I do a lot of steel fabrication in my garage so for me it's indispensable. I also run a fair bit of conduit and of course it's great for plumbing pipe as well.
Wish they would have sold this one before the Ryobi. Fortunately I bought the Milwaukee too already, which is better than both of them.
Edit: Also, I wish you posted your videos earlier. People like us got to go to work. Maybe 7 AM Eastern?
Do you need a kitchen sink, too?
Good review!
Great video 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great review 👍✌️👊
When the batteries are bigger than the tool. Looks like a scooter’s Lead Acid battery 😂. Rigid and ryobi are making me appreciate the dewalt and makita compact offerings even more.
Edit: didn’t realize it was brushed. That doesn’t bother me so much any more. I wouldn’t buy it to begin with most likely.
Stop the press! Dewalt has a one-handed portable bandsaw! DCS377- $199 bare tool.
Good informative review as usual , I would really like to take a peek under her skirt. I'm not a Ridgid guy however their tools are not bad and it's probably built a little better than most think. If used properly and not abused by someone leaning on it with all of their weight while cutting a piece of 2" nickel it should probably give a man/woman years of faithful service. I really like simple , the less you have to think about the safer your day will be.
First Bosch releases a brushed tool in 2020, and now Ridgid. Hard Pass. I understand these tools can do work, but I'd rather save my batteries.
How can we chat.
I need to ask some questions please.

From everything you've shown both here and in your other review, this just seems to be a relabel of the Ryobi tool with a Ridgid battery. See the interior/exterior design: ruclips.net/video/6trhEiLTUI4/видео.html
Is it different in any way other than the battery and trigger?
Basically it is speed control and better rafter hook placement. Don't really know why I would want speed control really. I believe speed and feed rate is the equation. So set speed just control your feed rate.
As mentioned below, speed control, a lot better mechanism for tool free blade change and much better grip.
@@WorkshopAddict Is not the Ryobi tool free blade change, I don't remember using a tool other than to adjust the teeth on the wheels, but this has that same adjustment on it.
@@kartboarder22g17 If you watch the full video on the Ryobi, the handle was loose and would move while cutting. The handle on the Ridgid tool free system has a slightly different design and it is very solid.
@@WorkshopAddict I'll check it out, I didn't freel mine move while I used it the other day on 3/16" steel.
very cool your so cool
Of course it is they made it ;P 3:44
👍👌

That giant lump they call the motor on that “compact” saw is a deal breaker. I’ll stick with my Milwaukee m18 compact bandsaw.
only 2-1/2....not good.
