I'm in construction and have used a few of these on the job. What I've found is that one of the most important things on these is hit and miss: The blade's distance from the edge of the saw in the cutting zone. The Dewalt model works great in this regard. The Milwaukee, surprisingly, has a blade too far inside of the edge and it cannot get in there to cutoff threaded rod, for instance, in tight spaces. Also, we tend to use these with one hand. The Bosch you're testing has a large protruding handle that not only gets in the way of getting into tight spaces, it looks awkward to be used one handed. Also, that bottom blade cover may seem like a safety item or make it robust, but it's, in fact, a nuisance. Blades break. That's just a reality. Having to swap the blade by opening that shield is just an annoying and unnecessary inconvenience. That's just my $0.02US...
This is not a good one for tight spaces or for cutting tight to a nut with threaded rod. I think they were going after the guy who was going to use this simply to cut items off a bench. You are right, the aux handle is weird. It is placed well for comfort of use in the open, but not for tight spaces.
Brother let me spin you a tale that touches on the exact thing you are talking about. I've been in remodeling for quite a long time.....I'm a Milwaukee guy....never had much of a problem with the older brushed units. The fuel units..... although small light and powerful...NOT RELIABLE. Gen3 hammer drill...I've had 6 of them in 19 months. Bad chucks ,trigger , the control board went out of one of them...another bad chuck Gen3 impact driver... replaced twice , once for bad collet and once because it just died. Powerhead on quicklock system overheats with string trimmer . I've had three 18v 9ah batteries replaced. 18v fuel rotary hammer just decided to die....I've had two of those. 18v fuel 4 1/2" grinder....I've had two of those die from locked up motors. The 12v fuel line seems to be pretty solid. The point here is just what you said...in the rat race to be the smallest , most powerful a lot was sacraficed. Excellent video....since he didn't call you out Milrobyee I will....get it together. I love the ingenious ideas that the company is producing but they need to slow down before releasing some tools just to claim the title of being the first to do so. As always excellent video and I am sorry for the rant.
Awesome comment. I was not going after any particular brand, but as you said, many brands push out new tools and technology to create new buyers. The tools are not always as reliable and that sucks. Sometimes basic is all we need!

@@WorkshopAddict I forgot to add the circular saws. M18 fuel 7 1/4" saw the bolt that holds the blade on broke. M18 fuel 6 1/2" saw...I've had two of those , first one was a bad switch and second one was a bad bearing behind the blade. There is one thing however that is very important that I forgot to mention. Milwaukee has stood behind their products and has either repaired or replaced broken equipment....even through all of this covid crap. The only thing that has not been figured out is why the powerhead on the quicklock overheats and shuts off while using the string trimmer. If anyone knows a cure pls let me know.

I wasn't going to comment, but you asked for comments so here it is. With the possible exception of my cordless Bulldog, I don't own a single Bosch cordless tool that I like. You keep mentioning quality, but I find the opposite to be true, with the quality of Bosch tools lacking. Yes, that is a small saw, but it sounded like it was struggling while cutting. The only Bosch power tool that I own that has a high-quality feel to it is my old made in Switzerland corded hammer drill, but bought that a long time ago. I know that many people are passionate about defending a tool's brand name - I'm not one of them, either I like a tool or I don't and for me Bosch tools just don't cut it (no pun intended).
I was/am not out to defend a tool brand. You should know that. 👍 I looked at this tool as a basic tool made out of metal rather than plastic without much that could go wrong. I like that.
@@WorkshopAddict I wasn't referring to you Brian, I know that you have tools from every brand, but there are people who have an allegiance to only one color and if someone says anything negative about that brand they take offense.
