  • After getting my RV setup for camping I quickly realized I needed a generator for dry camping (boondocking). I went with Predator due to positive reviews, price, and overall met all my needs.

      With everything we purchase these days, there is always a chance of it being a hit or miss. I feel lucky enough to count this as a hit so far. I've had zero issues with it and it runs perfectly anytime the situation calls for it.

    One of the best reviews of an RV generator I've ever seen. Covered exactly what I needed to know. Thanks!

    I only have 35 hours so far on my Predator 3500 still testing and breaking it in. Changed oil at 3 hours, 11 hours, 21 hours and 31 hours using Castrol GTX 10W-30. Changed the spark plug to a NGK 5534 (BPR7ES) after 3 hours. Then after 11 hours went with the NGK 4055 (BPR7EIX) the generator ran best on the NGK (4055) Iridium spark plug. I plugged in my Progressive EMS to the generator and instantly got a Open Ground fault reading on my EMS. In order to get my Progressive EMS to work with the generator I had to make a bonded ground some call them neutral grounds. With a Bonded Ground plugged into one of the generators 120 volt receptacles my Progressive EMS worked showing no faults. During my testing once so far my EMS shut the power off the my Travel Trailer because of a frequency spiked on the generator. Should be 60 Hz don't know what it spiked to, but the EMS protected my electrons from any damage.

      Sorry I'm just now acknowledging this, it was in the "held for review" column and I didn't see it. Thank you for posting this to help other see your experience with the Predator. Also thank you for the experience/info on spark plugs. Mine is still running like a champ with no issues so far.

    We just got ours up and running. We love it so far. Seems everyone says a high quality spark plug is needed so we have one on order but for initial start up and break in, the plug that came with it is working just fine. We are about 1/2 way through break in. Everything works as advertised and it is quiet. Couldn't be happier so far.

      Happy to hear that! So far I have no complaints with mine, but getting a higher quality spark plug sounds like a good idea.

    I'm on my second Predator I used it 24/7 while traveling to California and (boondocking) on the Pacific coast highway it powered all of my 120 volt outlets, frig, A/C and TV not all at the same time, there was never a concern with not enough power, this Generator /inverter has the power and is very quite for its size. I put 564 hours on it, changed oil using high mileage 20/30 oil with stabilizer. One morning It just wouldn't run after refueling, I got so worried I did the scheduled maintenance from day one and it still wouldn't turn over. I thoughtfully bought the 2 year warranty. While in California I got in touch with the office at Harbor Freight, got referred to another office that gave me a stock code that allowed me to go to a local Harbor Freight and get a new Predator, how did I know it was new? the plug was changed that was lobbied to make a change. All this was done away from where I originally bought the first one. I would have been powerless if I didn't spend that money on the warranty. (total investment) I bought another warranty on the second one also, never know where I'll be.
    I love my Predator and think I made a good selection on power source.

      Yeah it's always a good idea to purchase the warranty on something like this regardless of the brand. Glad to hear you continue to be happy with your purchase. Thanks for sharing your experience!

    Glad it's been good for you, even though it is a much better price than most inverter generators it's still a pretty big purchase, for me anyways. But I feel we made a good choice like anything else take care of it and hopefully we have good luck.👍

    Would it be safe to use the 30 amp adapter plugged into the invertor from 50amp Connector?

    • @thelosttexan1912
      @thelosttexan1912  4 года назад

      Not 100% sure what you are asking. BUT, if you're asking if you can hook up a 50 amp trailer to a 30 amp outlet, then I would say yes. As long as you have the correct power cord that allows the transference of power from a standard 30-Amp RV outlet to a 50-Amp inlet on your trailer. If you are asking about something else then I can't give an honest answer.

    How long of a runtime are you getting powering AC and refrigerator on a full tank? Nice video!

    • @thelosttexan1912
      @thelosttexan1912  5 лет назад +1

      I want to say 7 to 8 hours, but I wasn't using the A/C the whole time. I'll have to do a test run with the a/c and fridge running and let you know how long it last.

      Ok so we went camping yesterday and had to use the generator for power. Now I didn’t run the A/C the whole time, but I ran the generator for a total of 11 hours with the A/C running for 5 of those 11 hours. The generator did not run out of gas, I had to turn it off and could still see a little fuel down in it.

      @thelosttexan1912  5 лет назад +1

      Sorry I'm just replying to this comment, It didn't notify me it was here. There is no oil filter for this generator. the only things you will need to ever replace or check is the oil, gas, air filter and spark plug (and possible replace/check fuel line in two years per manual). Glad you enjoyed the video!

      @@thelosttexan1912 don't forget about the stupid spark arrestor! I took mine off and threw it as far as I could in the trash. Don't know how they expect the Genny to run out of such a thing! Nice video!

    • @thelosttexan1912
      @thelosttexan1912  5 лет назад

      Oh yeah, good call! You'll have to remove the spark arrestor to clean it or replace it if damaged. (6 screws to remove back grate and 2 bolts to remove spark arrestor).
