I'm a former animator and i'm trying to learn how to create a plushie on my own with my own art style. Like chibi like plushie and I have no idea where to start!
I usually try the first ones with a sketch of it, for an example a panda, you would draw it and then you trace the markings of the eyes and ears and then just attach everything like a puzzle! That’s what I usually do if it’s a drawing of mine BUT it will be 2 dimensional FYI
38:00 Sorry dont mind me, im jus gonna come back here later to watch the wings again, workin on a nightfury plush an i wanna use the tutorial for the wings here, its a great video, thanks for making this ^^
I usually use a pencil or a highlighter depending on the fabric color, that way when I wash the plushie the marks that I accidentally leave showing(because I'm a derp sometimes) will wash off. I also hand sew EVERYTHING because I don't have the room for a sewing machine where I live now. My mom has my sewing machine and it's HUGE so fitting it somewhere in this crowded house would be impossible.
Not sure if you’ve still got the sewing machine problem, but I suggest getting a mini one!! They cost $25-$35+ and save a lot of space, but usually they only have one stitch and can’t backstitch.
Hi! Those borders on the plushie patterns are made by setting your sewing machine to a zigzag stitch and lowering the stitch length as much as possible, so there is minuscule room between the stitches, it is EXTREMELY HARD, you have to be very good with a sewing machine, and very careful! 😁love your videos!

Something else that you could try that might keep viewers entertained during longer videos; add in little meme sound clips from something goofy or silly. What you were referencing at 6:25 is called “satin stitching” and though it’s time consuming, it’s not too too difficult and totally worth learning how to do!
The example you showed with kitamon looks like a satin stitch :)you don't actually need an embroidery machine to do that you can use a generic sewing machine if it has a zigzag stitch, put the length the smallest it will go :)
A tip for corners: If you want really sharp corners, but you have the seam allowance filling up you're corners when you turn it inside out, then here's a trick someone taught me. Cut off the corner of the seam allowance. Not all of it, and don't cut too close to the seam, or it will undo, but just the tip of it right where your corner is. I'm really bad at explaining things, so this might just be confusing, but I hope it helps.
Hey thank you for these videos! I'm really into animal crossing and I really wanna make my own plushies of the characters and I'm definitely gonna use these for when I find the time to get all my materials! I'm gonna have to hand stitch all of these! Pray for me!

Because I usually I love to draw and I want to make the character represent me and my personality. But again thank you so much for showing us how to make this
an easier way to deal with the wing armature might be to put it in before you topstitch and topstitch around it/next to it (for the 'fingers')? then it wouldn't have to be pushed out of shape just to fit in the wing.
The info here helped me make an amazing plushie! I used a sweater my daughter had outgrown. I really appreciate you sharing the knowledge that you've gained through experience!
Ladder stich the graphic on the wrong side with a 1/8 inch seam then fold the seam in and sew ontop and you get the pretty top stich :) I love your videos and just your work in general as well!!!
You've inspired me to make a plushie this weekend! Im so excided to try it! Your plushie making skills are amazing, and i hope that one day i can own one that you made.
Thanks for making these videos, I want to learn to make these things and am considering starting on making plushies. I just have to get over the fear of wasting material and actually just try it, thanks for all the tutorials.
I'm glad you enjoy them! :D And as for wasting material, sometimes it just has to be done until you get the hang of it. That's generally why I practiced with cheap fleece or cotton fabric when I first started. :)
I’ve always always wanted to make plushies and I always knew it was a TON of work and required a bunch of skills I definitely do NOT have, but WOW this is way beyond me. ..might give it a shot anyway though :)

if you were handsewing and needed strong seams, a running backstitch would probably be good enough, just fyi. Blanket stitch is usually more of a finish, afaik? But I come from garment sewing (and mostly historically handsewn) and that may not apply 1 to 1 with the very different fabrics
I have just recently got back into sewing, and I must say, your creations are amazing. You are giving me confidence in hand sewing parts on to the body.
Lil tip i use sometimes is to look at fursuit part tutorials because furries got all the stitchings and stuff and I recently got more "professional" fabric since before i was using old shirts but i feel kinda overwhelmed by the size and end up making things kinda lacking because of size- (i can't do big things without feeling major anxiety so normally i make smaller stuff) but I'm trying to make an plushy of my speacies! :D

I should really follow you on Facebook so I can one day commission a plush of my girl Luna from you. But I’ll probably get a better and clearer ref sheet for commissioning anybody for anything first.
I'd say best call on the fabric is a black or blue pen because they don't bleed to much on fabric and on certain fabric it will shine a bit meaning you can see the cut lines better. Anyway thanks for showing me this I'll definitely show you mine

This is so helpful :0 Ty! I'm hoping to make a plush of my character Valentine and this and the other vid helps so much. Val has a couple of small markings and a long tail (He's a bat/kitten hybrid,or as I like to call him, a kat! :3) an this helped a lot :D. I love all ur vids too! You have such a bright and sweet personality!! 💚💚
better to over do it than constantly repair it! my washer has eaten more plush toys than I can count because the seam popped and it just ate the whole thing out of it! I think I need to practice my stiches so they are cleaner...I did really close together stiches for a horse blanket...while it won't be coming apart any time soon it took way to long to complete! Thinking my son would love a plushie made by me(and I have 10 mon5hs to possible get it done!😂)
Uwa, I forgot to comment on both the tutorial and this video but it helped me so much! Unfortunately I'm unable to show you what I managed to make since I already gave it to my friend as her birthday gift, but either way, thank you so much for posting these videos!
I personally prefer hand sewing. It takes forever but it gives the plush a more homemade look which I really like. I also like to use contrasting threads to add to that look.
Have you thought of free motion embroidery? What you need to do is replace the foot on the sewing machine with an embroidery foot (metal bit that clamps down under the needle) and set the teeth (part that pulls the fabric through the machine) with a switch in the back. Also make sure that you use an embroidery hoop when doing this because it gives you more control. (Put it in the machine by pulling the lever on the food higher then normal, it will spring back so just hold it up while insertserting the hoop) Another think to consider is looking at you stitch settings. Sometimes the machine will have some guidelines as to what numbers need to be inserted.
This really helped me because I whanted to make my second plush with some different colors so thankyou for this imnlearning so I can hopefully one day make my characters but they'll need some specific colors 😅 and I don't have a sowing machine so my first plush I did by hand with help and it is fairly small but it did take a long time and what you said about the mirroring I did that for the tail of my first plush and I got a decent point on it and for embroidery I did embroider the face but I don't have a machine so I did it by hand yet again the nose came out clean the eyes faced some loose parts and I'm not sure how to get a circle but I got ovals😅 honestly your video did help me a lot but I didn't just use your video as I look at a few others to help me my first plush is just a sphear with ears and tail 😅
Ok first omg your adorable! I live your terminology and spunkyness. Second I love how amazingly simple your tutorials are. I would love to see a how to for small details and even for scale patches or hooves for deer or horse like characters.
That's really cool. I'm guessing the same tequniqes would apply when making something that's larger. I'm planning on making something big. Possibly a large sized dragon or a sergal.
Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. They're a lot of help and a huge inspiration! Your original how to make a plush got me inspired to do dome a while back and this is making me want to get back to it again~ They came out so cute! I wanna do a dragon plush next..
You may want to add this to your plushy making playlist. You might also want to make some notes on the most vital lost footage parts, like making the eyes and foot beans, and look for an opportunity to record that process on a future plushy project, and include in the playlist as a short video to support these other ones. Also… Losing that footage sounds infuriating! I'm so sorry it happened to you. I wish I could send hugs over the Internet.
Thank you so much! The custom plush company really messed up my plushie, and turned it into a totally different character. (they turned my dragon boy into a fox) T_T The worst part is that they don't want to fix it. WTF Your plush tutorials really helped me make the plush how I wanted. Thank you so much. ♡
Hi! Dunno if you’ll see it but, I actually don’t use seam allowance because it goes with my ‘aesthetic’ of my plushies! I hand sew everything, from the appliqué to doing the plushie itself! But I do it for the stitches to be able to be seen from outside c: so I don’t think that for me it damages the final result :> And great work!
something i recommend for your videos: next to adding funny clips (like someone in the comments already said) maybe try to cut out parts where your camera is goofing. it'll make the video a bit shorter. im going to try and make my own plushies soon since this video gave me lots of inspiration! and i'm looking forward to it! my mom will help me on the way since she learned how to stitch!
PLEASE do a plushie wing tutorial, i keep making dutchies then getting to the wings and being like "well what do i do now..." i love all your other tutorials so much and i feel like a feathered wing tutorial could be a HUGE help! thank you for inspiring me to make plushies!!
For putting the wire in the wings, have you ever tried using it as a way to help turn the wings inside out and as you go, maneuver the wire and stuffing into the spot where it goes instead of, or alongside, what you normally use (if that makes sense)?
It would be great help if I knew what kind of fabrics and stuffing you used to make your plushies ok if they get a little wet! Thanks for the help you inspire me!
"The most irritating markings to do are stripes" Me, watching this video to help me make my first plushie, which has rainbow stripes: "...I see..... :)))"
Hi! Do you know any free patterns for a simple plush? (For a starter project), or any videos on how to make my own pattern. Plush making looks fun, i'm hoping it will be a placeholder until I get a bigger budget for a fursuit head :> . Thanks for the video it's really well explained! Hope you've had/have a good day :3
What is the benefit of using the blanket stitch over the backstitch? If seeing it tight is important, why wouldn’t you want to use one of the tightest stitches?
I'm not neff, and I have no idea what a backstitch is, but I believe it has something to do with not putting to much stress on the thread and making it as easy to hide as possible.
Thank you for showing how you got the wire into the wings! I was actually looking for a tutorial on how to do just that on a sewn plush.
I'm glad you found it helpful! :D

@@forsamuel226 That really depends on how well you did the stich. If you're a derp, like me, that can vary.

You are so lovely! I like watching your tutorials here. Always good vibes from you^^
I personally prefer hand sewing.
(Put it in the machine by pulling the lever on the food higher then normal, it will spring back so just hold it up while insertserting the hoop)
Another think to consider is looking at you stitch settings.
Pretty similar, but usually with larger plushies you have to use a different kind of stuffing otherwise they get crazy heavy
Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. They're a lot of help and a huge inspiration! Your original how to make a plush got me inspired to do dome a while back and this is making me want to get back to it again~
They came out so cute! I wanna do a dragon plush next..
also could you make a video on how to make a own template it would help many including me. waiting for the reply..
I was trying to find a plushie character from a game and couldn't find it so I decided to make my own. This video really helps, thanks 😊👍🏻💕
I was searching how to make plushies for like a cat i think im still thinking- and i found a video from my favorite DIY person
Thank you so much!
The custom plush company really messed up my plushie, and turned it into a totally different character. (they turned my dragon boy into a fox) T_T
The worst part is that they don't want to fix it. WTF
Your plush tutorials really helped me make the plush how I wanted. Thank you so much. ♡
I assume you mean Budsises, which they will follow your ref sheet EXACTLY as it looks.
So if it looked like a fox in thr ref sheet, it will be a fox.
@@Neffertity mine was from Bespoke Plush. I regret not going for Budsises.
@@fishyknight3956 ahhh I haven't heard much about that one.
is soooooooooooooooooooo cccccccuuuuuuuttttttteeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!
How do you make the head? I have trouble making my plush heads look right.
Unfortunately the only real advice I have for that is trial and error till you find a shape that works.
This is the MOST helpful video I’ve found yet thank you so much!!’ 💓
something i recommend for your videos: next to adding funny clips (like someone in the comments already said) maybe try to cut out parts where your camera is goofing. it'll make the video a bit shorter. im going to try and make my own plushies soon since this video gave me lots of inspiration! and i'm looking forward to it! my mom will help me on the way since she learned how to stitch!
I know in ur last vid u said ur plush patterns represented ur art style but I was kinda wondering if u could do a plush pattern tutorial
It would be great help if I knew what kind of fabrics and stuffing you used to make your plushies ok if they get a little wet! Thanks for the help you inspire me!
"The most irritating markings to do are stripes"
Me, watching this video to help me make my first plushie, which has rainbow stripes: "...I see..... :)))"

Me:I HAVE BEEN BLESSED
I LOVE YOUR TUTUORIALS! IM YOUR BIGESST FAN!
He's so cute and those little paws
