  • Derived from a Jazzy Select electric wheel chair, the seat, excess anti-tip wheels, etc were removed. Joystick was replaced with a Sabertooth 2X32 two channel 32 Amp electronic motor controller, has a 2.4Gh 5 channel Spetkrum DX5e RC transmitter and receiver setup installed. This was the first test run, the motor controller has a USB port for connecting to a computer to further configure the operation of the drive motors. The parking brake needs to be finished. It will be used to transport a small Go-Pro Hero III video camera that will have pan and tilt functions added later. It has a top speed of around 10MPH.

    Man, I'd be wacking a comfortable seat on that thing and using it to get around with. Nice!

    I put together a similar unit with two power chair motors mounted on a hand cart base along with a camera and 5.8ghz transmitter. I used a 2x25 sabertooth for the motor drive. I found it best to have the driven wheels pull rather than push. The are larger and can move over obstacles and ruff terrain better than the smaller wheels. The 25amp controller did have enough power to push my SUV (in neutral and on flat ground) around. The shear torque these motors produce is amazing. My dream is to redesign my 'rover to be 4wd with four motors making four driven wheels. Great video.

    I like the idea that the front wheel is not terrible. Why not add an axle where the wheels are rotating on a welding axel shaft like a go cart. It looks very cheap. Don't take the comments negativity it a cool look. Just got half way on the idea

    Check the documentation, the 2x32 has additional outputs for controlling electromagnetic brakes, according to their blurb on DimensionEngineering.com's website. Might be useful?

    I want to make one of these to put a 360 camera on. The camera will be about 5’6” high. Do you have a “how-to” video actually detailing the steps of doing this modification ? Great video!

      That`s pretty high for a camera to not wobble around when moving the robot unless it is on solid smooth ground, unless you have good stabilization in the camera. Other than that the robot base has plenty of weight, about 80 plus pounds, to keep it semi-stable when moving. Mine has a solid mount on the top that held the seat base, a 1 inch round tube. It was removed in this video but it installs between the battery and control board seen at :53 seconds, and again at 1:18 with the cover installed.

      The new 360 cameras have good built in stabilization and I was actually thinking of using this more for photographing a large area with a 360 camera (ie a base ball field, retail mall, etc). That way I could remote control the jazzy and easily stay out of the picture. It would take some playing around to see what works best. I could move the jazzy at a constant speed and have the camera set to snap every, say 2 seconds. Or I would just have to move, say 5 feet, stop, take a picture and then move another 5 and so on. But for taking a large outside area that I don't want to be in the picture this will be PERFECT. Pictures would then be stitched using software like Cupix or possibly Pix4d. Have a great year!!

    nice project and love the paint job! I found your video while looking for data on the 4 pin joystick and was wondering if you scrapped that or still have it? I'm building a Cupcake Car for the local Maker Faire and the Jazzy Select GT I picked up is missing the joystick and it's been tough finding what the signals are. So if you still have the joystick around, even if broken, I'd appreciate a chance to take it off your hands. Thanks.

    The 2X32 amp Sabertooth controller does not even get warm when I am operating this unit. I have seen that when the unit sits overnight, forward and reverse will swap functions, pretty weird.

    I have my Invacare M41 converted and working like a champ. BUT now my problem is that the battery charger that came with it has the typical XLR charger connector and the charger port was soldered to the main board with the Joystick controller. I want to keep my shroud screwed on. How did you rig up yours for charging? You think I can simply hardwire the positive and negative from the original charger and run with that? What I really wanted was to find an XLR outlet to attach to the shroud or some other type of connector that I can simply plug in to start charging. Any advice will be appreciated.

    I love your outter shell design. Did you design & build it or have another company design build it? what Type of material did you use? How can I build a shell design like that?

    • @sniperjdp
      @sniperjdp  7 лет назад +1

      The shell is actually the original base of the "Jazzy Select" wheel chair. I just added the paint job to it.

    curious why you have it backwards. the swivel casters are the rear wheels. they drive much better and have better traction being driven correctly.

    • @sniperjdp
      @sniperjdp  6 лет назад +1

      I ran it with the swivel casters in the rear because when I run this fast the swivel casters will wobble side to side. I am trying to come up with a way to add a shimmy damper to those swivel caster assemblies.

    LOL why would you use the crappy wheel chair brakes? Sabortooth has braking settings in the unit

    • @drunkensloth8626
      @drunkensloth8626 6 лет назад +1

      Wheelchairs actually have very good electromagnetic brakes, they're impossible to move unless you put them in neutral.

    I'm try to turn a gogo mobility scooter into an R/C car. Can I just connect the scooter's throttle control wires to the traxxas receiver i have? And would a 2s battery be enough to power it?

    Hi I was building an RC Jazzy when I came across your camo "007" video and have the almost exact same set up with the sawtooth 2x32 and wanted to see if you might be able to help me understand what's wrong with why it isn't responding. Every diagram I come across fails to mention the extra white and yellow wires from each motor and my receiver is responding to showing some activity but somethings missing... in Reno.. 7754001496

    • @VernonKalugdan
      @VernonKalugdan 7 лет назад

      Matthew those are for the ebrakes. sniper was mentioning in the video that he had to enable them thats why his was rolling. his is likely just a click of he DEScribe software and reflash of the controller. yours is likely not moving well or at all because the ebrakes are not disengaged. on the 2x32 you should put the white or yellow to p1 and p2 and the other wire to battery positive. then enable ebrakes in DEScribe and flash. then you should be good to go. good luck!

    attach to yellow Burley 'Bee' bicycle-trailer full of HOMELESS camping gear (100-lbs.?), so an old homeless man can walk alongside, up into the (street)/hills at night into the 2,000-acre park lands on the edge of town.
