Honestly, I hate that people assume that. It just makes it all the more likely that people will be afraid of aliens when/if they do land here. The aliens might just be curious scientists. Anthropocentrism aka the Spiritual Teenager aka humans. Thankfully First Contact ~2030 will help us to (spiritually) grow up as a species. Every change of human development has always been a shift in consciousness towards a larger POV. Finding out we are the "ants" in the galaxy is no different.
I enjoyed this very much and can't wait to have my children watch. Thinking outside the box expands their little grey cells. My #4 is thinking he wants to be an astronomer. That or aerospace engineer. I think he would be great at either one! Thanks for a fun video.
another thing to think about is that we have only had radio signals for 100 (technically 128) years. There are only ~76 planets within range of our signals at the moment so its possible that any ETs looking for us haven't received our signals and we haven't received theirs as well.
How on earth could humans possibly meet and get along with something that we can't even imagine when we find each other too 'different' to treat well or get along with.
And another thing I wonder, would Aliens need oxygen, water, or even food to survive or would they thrive on other qualifications for habitats? If that’s the case would they even have the curiosity and willingness to visit earth or would that be a pointless endeavor?
These are the kinds of people I just absolutely love. She is literally so incredibly smart it makes me almost proud. Ahhh... Jill Tarter, I've loved your knowledge and enthusiasm for over 30 years !
If they can reach our planet I doubt we would have any defense worth spit...
theldun1 pretty much this, i assume they would be like 10000~ years ahead of us
They're already here and have been for awhile.
vikingjedi Hahahaha the chances of them being able to stay hidden for this long is insane. We would definitely have solid proof if they’ve intruded or arrived on earth
Defense of what?
No we wouldn't. They're so more advanced than us it wouldn't even be a challenge for them to stay hidden.
Petition for her to view some ”human are space orcs” memes
omg yes!!
We need more videos of her. She's awesome and smart :)
6:46 had me DYING! this part specifically. Its the fact that we're taking her seriously and ahe throws a funny behind joke. I EFFING LOVE THIS LADY 😂
Smart woman. I liked this video.
If she wrote a book I’d buy it in a heartbeat. Could listen to her speak all day!
People are afraid of aliens because they think aliens will treat humans the way humans treat animals
I would love to ask what she thought of the Arrival? I thought it was the most beautiful Sci-Fi movie I have ever seen. It is incredibly heart-felt..
You're not gonna keep finding intelligent life a secret...? Sure Jan
Kappa
jose garcia She wouldn’t. It would make her career and win her a Nobel prize. The government would, though.
Her vocabulary is insane… I love the way she speaks
Bro why does she close her eyes so much when she answers the questions
Jill is amazing, so made my day to hear her perception ...

pause the vid
google "anthropocentrism"
I don't have to...
I'm Greek! ;)
Chem Hung based on what I know of etymology, I can tell it means the believe than humanity is the center of the universe.
Jill Tarter you are AWESOME!!!!
Wired please bring her back!
This is so cool! Thank you Jill - you seem to be doing great things for humans!
How on earth could humans possibly meet and get along with something that we can't even imagine when we find each other too 'different' to treat well or get along with.
Isn’t there a significant probability that the human race has already encountered aliens or at least come in contact with them?
And another thing I wonder, would Aliens need oxygen, water, or even food to survive or would they thrive on other qualifications for habitats? If that’s the case would they even have the curiosity and willingness to visit earth or would that be a pointless endeavor?
She is so amazing... More videos like this
Wonderful! Thank you for your level headed observations. I'm glad I found you
She’s the Alien
These are the kinds of people I just absolutely love. She is literally so incredibly smart it makes me almost proud. Like she just answered question after question with essential a “maybe” but backed it up with facts and what she knows and doesn’t know that I feel like she’s answered almost every question completely without giving an answer at all. I can only dream of being as accomplished and intelligent and involved/evolving as she is ❤️
I can’t believe she is 75... drop that skincare routine ASAP
