Finally I can spend my time on gardening and woodwork instead of watching all this motorsport.
My eyes have been irreversibly blessed by what they've seen
I live just outside Watkins Glen my whole life, my dad used to race stock cars there when I was too little to remember. He's passed on now but this track is very important to me and it's just an amazing track. Being a small town New Yorker hearing how much people love our track is awesome.

Yeah it really is a nice flowing track and I'm glad to have the opportunity to take part in it from the other side of the world (my local is Bathurst lol). Hopefully we see Glen Watkins come up in the daily races as consistently as some of the legacy tracks.
Living 20 mins away from Mid-Ohio I feel the same way.
Holidayed in the US and Canada with my wife and kids in 2019, from Australia. We spent a couple of days in Watkins Glen. Fell in love with it, it’s just beautiful! Seneca lake is lovely. It was the end of March, sadly the track was closed, but I got a photo out the front. Gorgeous part of the world! Oh and had one of the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten there :)

This is my "home track" I'm an hour from it and watching IMSA racing and the last Indy race they held there was absolutely wild. So glad this got added to the game

@Daniel Mullock That's awesome! I'm about 5 hours away and remember camping on the back straight infield for a ton of the IMSA GTP weekends back in the 80's and 90's (pre-bus stop)! 🙂 (Somehow I ended up a non-smoker despite all the Camel paraphernalia 😆).
I wonder if they got the outward slope of esses down for GT7. That definitely seems like it could gobble up more than a few novices.
Its a little further for me but I drive the track every year for opening weekend. Supposed to stay in behind the pace car but you can lag back and send it on the straights.

What i love about Watkins Glen is how it just flows, there isn't a hairpin to slow things down to a stop. It's a lot of fun to drive, so glad PD added it!
The toe of the boot is a hairpin and quite slow with a steep climbing exit. The NASCAR layout, however, is high speed all the way around.
I think of Watkins Glen and I then think of the legendary SuperGT quote:
"Off you go mate, and you too."

You were correct in identifying them as Aussies. If there is a star beneath the Union Jack, it's an Aussie. No star beneath, it's a Kiwi.
The stars on the Kiwi flag are red as well, also the aussie flag has the southern cross on the right...the Kiwi flag doesn't
The flags are tiny in the game so at a quick glance its easy to get wrong
Such a great track! Hope they do COTA or other world circuits next.
I strongly advocate for COTA to be added in the games as well 🙌 but I'm still happy they added Watkins Glen, its such a fun racetrack
i gotta be honest here i hate cota i hope they add other track before cota, i would really like indianapolis tho, even tho i think it wont be added

This track is GREAT, I've done the singplayer world tour 10 laps event, amazing

This track was on a bucket list to be added for many people. Glad to see it happening. Really makes us hopeful for more fan favourites to be added
It was on my bucket list since the days of GT5. I got to experience it in a few other games over the years, but Gran Turismo has always produced the best online racing. Now they just need to add Limerock Park and I'll be in heaven!
Love that they added Watkins Glen, I have driven my cars on track many times in real life there this is the first time something in my back yard is in a video game lol

Watkins Glen is such a fun racetrack! I had a field day before going to work and after I'm gonna run more laps. Hopefully they add COTA to this game too

I've done it on simulators and in person. Lol sorry I'm just confused. Like how do you figure it doesn't have atmosphere? Cause you and me see COTA in a much different light

Haven’t bought GT7 yet, but I’m blown away they added The Glen. This was one of my favourite tracks from PCARS 1 & 2. It’s pretty incredible with high downforce cars.
Yeah, have to agree, spend around an hour on it just now. Fun as hell.
Yay! Such a fun course, and perfect timing that they added this right before the 6 hour IMSA race at the Glen this weekend.
You missed some blokes going left for the boot in the short track in 11:46 and 14:33
That gr4 corvette introduced the newest bit of gt7 realism: sideways porpoising.

Watkins Glen is probably the closest famous racing circuit near me. Im glad to see Steve drive this circuit joyfully in a wonderful video.

I was just there for the 6-hour IMSA race. Such a great venue. Track boundaries were definitely an issue over the weekend with several teams being issued drive-through penalties. Plenty of similar crashes too including one GT3/GTP team being taking out by a pair of battling DPi cars as they entered the toe of the boot 3 wide.
Love seeing your video here. Just spent the first day of a three day weekend at Watkins Glen today for the IMSA 6 Hour race. It's such an incredible venue to visit... and an excellent course to drive in a sim!
My first experience of this track ever and I took out my NSX Concept-GT detuned to run in the WTC800 series and I loved the track... wow! Haven't raced on it yet but just lapping around in time trial I can feel that the circuit has a really nice flow to it :) Awesome vid as ever!
I remember racing this on Nascar 06. It’s the short version in that game, but it is as fun as I remember. In Nascar track limits on turn 1 don’t exist. If I remember correctly that’s how it is in real life too

I spent hours at the Glen this morning, loved it. I've raced thousands of virtual miles at the track but this was the first time I ever got to drive the Boot. Took some practice lol
The game doesn't quite capture the elevation change entering the boot but it looks like the on-track action will be similar. I was just there this weekend for the IMSA event.
@@chrishuyler3580 one of the daily races this week is the boot layout in GR.3 cars, sooooo much fun. Just make sure to use BOTH soft and mediums in the race to avoid the 1 minute penalty lol

I am soo glad that this track is now on GT7. My wife and I drove on this track and on our way home from the finger Lakes inNY state we stop at the track and we did 1 lap around the track we had our Honda CRV :) but it was a blast driving on the track

This has been an absolute dream of an addition to GT7, I've been bashing WG all day, love it.
I dont think I've heard of or raced on this track before. Really enjoyed both the short and long course, the track got some fun elevation changes that makes it much more interesting than the layout would suggest. Good update overall, hopefully Polyphony keeps this up!

I've played this track so much that I know it like the back of my hand. I've played it in Forza, Assetto Corsa, NASCAR and I live in the same state as it, so it's like a home track to me.
It would be cool to see sonoma raceway in the game.

there's like 5 or 6 very legit layouts with a grand layout that really works with big cars.

What a fantastic circuit, fast and flowing and scenic. I'm away from home for a couple of weeks, looking forward to doing the update and driving on this track. In real life racing, our Australian V8 Supercars would be spectacular on this track.
Marcus Ambrose won here in a NASCAR race, back in 2009, I believe. It was an incredible race and he drove the crap out of that car!

Very honored to see my home track WGI. Hopefully they take it a step further, in true tradition, and include this track with the Music Rallies. Truly a beautiful town that celebrated the racing heritage by closing off the town, and having a race through Main St small town America, then up through the hills of the Fingerlakes and finishing with thousands of fans cheering from sidewalks and their front porches. Looking forward to going to the Fanatec GT and vintage races coming in July and August. Shout out to my neighbors, Lil Speed Shop.

I’ve been to imsa, nascar, and indycar races here. Every single one I’ve been to has been an amazing race. Love this track.

It was great to see all the drivers from down under representing their teams, drivers, and sponsors. However, I don't think it was a problem with lag, everyone in the southern hemisphere just moves like that.

Watkins Glen is one of the best tracks in the Americas, and its about time it got featured in the GT series.

That new Gr3 Suzuki is not a bad drive. I bought and tested it in an arcade race on the short version and the AI gave me som competition. Nice vid, Mr. Brown.

I still remember your Forza 7 Shameful Ramming Attempts video.
This is actually one of the funnest tracks in GT7. I still wish they would bring back Cote d'Azur. That was a HARD track but it was a lot of fun trying to find just the right place to sneak past the other racers.
There is so much in this video that reminds me of your Forza Motorsport videos … good stuff 👍🏼

can you slow down anywher before the yellow line to serve a penalty? or does it HAVE to be at the yellow line? i feel like it would make sense to serve the penalty at the slowest part of the track possible.

Last time I drove on this track was back in the 90's on Papyrus' NASCAR Racing. I think it was the only non-oval track in the game. Those were the days.

I love the Glen I've done some HPDE events in my own car on it. I hope they add Virginia International Raceway, I've raced a lot of events there and that track is amazing.
Every time I leave the pits on this track I get a 3 second penalty for cutting the line. The problem is, it happens with the AI is controlling the car!
Have to stay in the pit lane on entry iirc to avoid that penalty
