Never new of the existence of this kind of gem.....a delight to see it..... I'm a huge Errol Flynn fan.....in my late sixties now but lived a full life myself and no one lived as large as Flynn himself..... there'll never be another like him....and he was a good actor......but his greatest act was his legend.

I just read David Niven's 2 books. "The Moon is a balloon" & "Bring on the empty horses" they are both great books. Some brilliant Errol Flynn stories in them.

Thank you for posting an episode of The Errol Flynn Theatre from 1956. It must have come at a time when Flynn's drinking got worse, eventually leading to his death at only 50 yrs of age. I didn't know he died that young until I read his biography. But what an actor he was, particularly in swashbuckling adventure films, and with Olivia deHavilland. There will never be another Errol Flynn.

Errol had a lot of health issues that contributed to his death…being born with an enlarged heart, suffering from recurring bouts of malaria (which he originally contracted to his time in Papua New Guinea, STDs - all of which kept him out of all 3 services in 1941…as well as chronic back pain (from injuries sustained from his own stunt work in the 30s and early 40s) and according to his own biography, he nearly died in the mid 50s after being bitten during a fight.

Imagine for a moment how pleasurable and rewarding this must have been to Errol, especially at this very troubled time in his life, to have both his wife and his only son in this production. I've been an admirer and fan of Errol's for a very long time, and this was wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing.

The series was produced in England but never given prime network time.Interesting to see Errol, Patrice and Sean together.
Errol would sadly pass away two years later in 1959.
He had lived a full life !!

Sean was his son by Lily Damita. He doesn't seem to have inherited much of his father's talent, (he didn't even attempt an Irish accent), but he's got his looks and had his wanderlust and sense of adventure. Like his father, he would have wanted to live any other life.

@@14bonkyb Many documentaries will tell us Errol demeaned himself by appearing in these television productions. Nearly EVERY big time movie star from 20 years before did television. They knew what was coming (tv) and what was going (studio dominated movies).
