Today's video will teach a revelation on high frequency. By removing highs from claps, snares, shakers, clothes, hats, open hats, and hives, one can create depth in music. This technique is used by many top mixing engineers to create pleasant-sounding mixes with deep-layered music.
For those asking YES IT'S CLIPPING. I edited this quick before a studio session with Superman and boosted my voice because I forgot to process via UAD Card and then my MOM CAME in and told me that I hade a students o I had to leave and exported it without double checking so NOW WE GOT A CLIPPY TRACK MESS That people took to make PHONK and it's OK. I hope that the information provided helps and maybe that's why I got REJECTED x_XE2
No worries Zen! Nice vid. Thanks for the help. Love the simple solution when people ask, how u get it this warm? Just remove the highs haha.
Man, I just finished a track and used your video as a reference, just because I thought it was a new and innovative mixing style. Bummer, because now I have to start over…😅
I thought you did it on purpose as a joke lol
i will never forgive you for this!!!
yeah but phonk is cool tho
A good way to remove high's from drum samples is bitcrushing or downsampling. It's also a good way to get a bunch of random drum sounds to sound like a unified kit. Once they all run through the same bitcrush algorithm, they have a similar sound but still sound like different samples instead of a bunch of random samples you pulled out of different packs.
4:06 😂😂 bro spat
🤣🤣
Bro its a new way to get rid of highs … Coat your mic friend haha
😂😂🎉
"This song got rejected by all labels but they said its amazing "
If haven't heard that before lmao
Zen, I've been watching you for years now and I just wanted to say that production techniques aside, it has been a gift to watch you grow as a content creator. I find myself laughing out loud at some point or another in each one of your videos. Your casual and transparent approach to the process inspires so much confidence. You do such a great job at respecting the complexity of the craft while not taking it too seriously for no reason. I am so grateful to have your videos in my queue, dude. Cheers.
Ur videos are super informative and also funny, thanks Zen
wrote this down from the last stream already. applied, instantly made a difference . My question, whyyy I nobody talks about this. finally i know where hats should be and rest shouldn't be. 🙏thankyou for this video. best mentor is this guy
This clipping could lead to a new genre for the gen zers- hyper melodic techno
This THE tuto I needed RIGHT NOW, just finished a mix and couldn’t find out what was wrong, thank you 🙏🏻
“The open hat is superior, the caste system.” I love your vids.
Short and to the point good
You cheered me up for the day thanks :)
Thanks!
legend 🔥
thank you for this wisdom, gucci riddim bass guy here again. sorry i’ve been mia so long, im currently travelling. so good to hear your voice again my ninja
I love the narrative of becoming a better songwriter. A lot of us got stuck in the “producer” mentality
it actually depends on the genre and how u select ur sounds some stuff having full frequency in the highs gives amazing feeling when leveled the right way but i can agree with the shaker and open hat relation but for synth ex it depends on every track and the sound u chose some synth sound lacking clarity when u cut then even on 10 k specially in psychedelic music and yet u can hear there track crystal clean with high quality level
Good thing I haven't finished anything. Now I can go back and cut highs. Great info as always
Love it bro!!
self release that track! its good! thanks for the vid zenny
thank you so much, amazing video
Love the content, full support
Lmao good point I remember when all top "producers" would make videos on yt where they would layer 6 supersaws and boost the high freqs and say this is how to take ur music to the next level.
4:07 my favorite part :D
Excellent, my hi end is shit and this is probably why 😂
You watch James Hype's new video "How ‘VIBRATE’ was made - from idea to mastering"? He used an Evo Sounds preset for the bass of his Beatport #1 hit.
Great video!
E P I C
thank u master 🙏
Aside from recommending that you be foaming at the mouth with enthusiasm 😏, I would add one thing: everyone should test their hearing frequently. If you have been enjoying club music for any amount of time, your true high-frequency hearing is likely very degraded. But, you have the tools to know. Grab your DAW's test-tone device or just a synth and listen to frequencies above 10kHz. Move the center around. How high can you really hear? You might be pretty disappointed. If so, you need to take extra care where you can't hear well. I think this video is really important.
hahaha! good video man, mindblowing difference! :D
Omg I love you brah!
Evo sound on James hype “vibrate”??? 😎😎😎
Where is there more space? ....The Highs. I dont agree with you. Maybe some stuff, but if the sound (you choose) has high info, why would you take it away? ..cant put it back in. Knowing where to take away high frequency is the real question...and it changes everytime.
Tai Lopez switched to the music industry ya'll! KNOWLEDGE!
(Sorry it had to be said, love your content bro
I love you too much bro, so funny but 100% true
Knock knock
the playback sounds kinda distorted oO
i thought it's some kind of joke at first but at 3:36 i was like waaaait a minute
I boosted in the video editor too much X_X FCK MEE haha I speed edited this oh well.
Too many highs
@@marekd2733hahah same! thought first it was a joke, fits perfect when Zen said that all labels rejected the song, but it sounds amazing lol.
I thought it was a HTSL Julien Earle.
1:36 BRUH I HAVE HEADPHONES ON!
how to big room techno style revealed?☺
Boots cats boots cats
Hahahah how can we watch your vids without laughing amymore :)
Zen my man, we love your vids, but your voice is really low, when I amped up my speakers and the track came in.... :D
why do the track sound like it got 15 camelphats on it? meme?
Maybe that's why it didn't get signed LOL Oh well fuck IT! It's out iT'S OUT
@@ZenWorld i still cant tell if you are meme'ing or not 😂
Joel Corey needs to come clean 😂
Pro tip
SPIT FACTS
Maaan thats is probably why my tracks sucks even tho i have good sounds
I've ruined all my tracks xD
Bro! Stilgar would be very upset that you just spit like that. Haha 😂
All records from the old days are topping at 16k you miss nothing and most people lost that range. Safe to keep it below 16k in general (and certain parts can be lower of course) Boosting that so called air is counter adding to perceived loudness of course but not necessarily better. If you liked the classic vinyl sound (I think the still cut records like that but did not test this) just forget that last octave instruments are topping at 4 and 5k and that is fucking high already the overtones are a thing but many people forget that the 10-20k range is only 1 octave while the de other 9 octaves are well below the 10k range.
This is really important info. You make simple but very important observations. What is that frequency of the highest note on a piano? What is the frequency of the highest note Mariah Carey can sing (😏)? Yes, you need ultra-high frequency content, but the simple fact is: most people can't hear it. So just keep it under control. Can you hear above 12kHz? Maybe, but enjoy it while you can. Protect your hearing!
4:07 🤣
There is too much distorsion all over the place in this track man ! I love you but damn clean that shit a little
😂😂😂 I fucked up the editing my voice didn’t get processed by my UAD card and I just boosted the file by 12DB lol fucked the mastered track
@@ZenWorld hahaha ok it make sense I was like what the fuck is going on it’s not like him to put something like that out there 😅😅
FUCKING ZEN LOL ;P
Que PASO
Why this clip sound so distortion man, are u deliberately do it. Its nasty.
Hahah “guess what YOU’RE OLD”
for exemple in afro house or tribal music the shaker is more superior so i dont know what ur talking about ur just talking about the style u make those rules dont apply on all genres eventually the ear plays the roles nothing is more superior its a subjective decision to decide what is superior and those producers like james hype and ex ur using as big examples actually make silly tracks with a total of 10 elements anyone can mix that with clarity lol there is levels beyond those commerical models ur mentioning in underground and psychedelic music we reach out more then 100 channel + full detailed and architected track would to see how good those limited simple minded artist would handle such projects hhhhhhhhhh
😂😂😂😂🎉
CUMBIAA
Im first to comment
and now I see why Dripment, a dubstep-centric RUclipsr, calls them “mid-basses”. Not only bc we cut the lows for the kick and sub but cut the highs. Yall makin me better on a regular. 😤
