The written instructions are here!!!!! Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to watch this video. www.etsy.com/listing/1803812343/knitting-pattern-for-a-granny-square
Thank you for posting this. I've been knitting since I was 6 years old, but was never able to master crochet. I resigned myself to never being able to make a granny square blanket. Now I can 🎉 I was able to follow your instructions perfectly 😊
I tried Frankie's version of the Knit a Granny Square, but to see how to work it and your twist on it is great. I would love to have a written version of your square.
Found you because I've been thinking about knitting granny squares. I'm not concerned about the square looking like crochet (Mary Thomas devotes a chapter to this subject). I do want the "clusters" and spaces. What I'm going to try is using elongated knit sts for the double crochets & yo for the chains. I'll be working in the round. Don't know if it will work.
Is there a way I can purchase the written pattern? It is not listed in your Etsy shop. Or if you a re open to doing a lesson on zoom, I would love to learn.
Hi, this is genius! I both knit and crochet. I love this. I will have to re-watch this when it isn't midnight and my brain cells are awake. I actually came looking for just this vert thing, partly for similar reasons as yours. I was wondering about 2 things. First, is the fabric created as dense as crocheted or is it less dense? I am hoping for something more flowy (more drape). Also, does this use less yarn than crocheting? I have a pattern I'm looking at. However, crocheted version takes 14 skeins of super bulky. Knitted version takes 7! That's a significant difference. However, I crochet much faster. With a touch of adhd added in and the Christmas crafting season is upon us. Such decisions! Thank you for your time and this technique. It's genius.
I want to knit a sweater that is one big granny square but it is a crochet pattern. Do you have any tricks for translating a crochet into a knitting pattern? I tried, but it was like reading Greek to me as a knitter.
I have to admit I’ve never really done it before. But I am making one of those hexagon granny square sweaters using this knitted technique. What kind of sweater is it? Maybe you can email me and we can work it out together.
After the circle, you completely lost me when you were double crocheting. It would be helpful if you had written instructions on the side, if you keep this same video, however I suggest you redo this to knit each move very slowly and much closer to the camera. Getting flustered is ok because tutorials aren't about speed. The best tutorials show the stitches very slowly for at least 3 stitches. If you have a line of the same stitch, a minimum of 3 super slow, then gradually speed up, then tell the viewers you will meet them at the end of the row, at the end of 35 stitches, or whatever. If you repeat the same row, start with 3 slow stitches, speed up, then meet at the end. If the row is a different pattern take each stitch slowly and write out the row to the side. Good luck with your channel. ** Looking for my crochet hook because it's easier.**

It is not knitted. It is crochet using knitting needles.

The drape is very similar to crochet. I haven’t tested the amount of yarn needed verse crochet yet.
