CF is certainly having its moment in the sun. I just saw a RUclips video the other day with Konstantin Baum, also a MW about CF. In his video the Argentine CF also scored the highest, (if I am not mistaken I think it was from Catena Zapata).
I do enjoy drinking CF, here in Hungary Cabernet Franc from Villany is quite enjoyable and has a good reputation. It is a bit more full-bodied with a darker fruit profile, but with good acidity and savory and spices. I also do enjoy Pinot Bianco from Alto Adige and Weissburgunder from Baden, as they exhibit both crispness and creaminess in the glass. Alsace PB can be great too, but sometime it isn't clear what the sugar levels are.
Beaujolais Crus are some of the best lighter bodied fine reds, with lovely floral notes and very food friendly. I also enjoy GSM and Carignan blends from the Southern Rhone, the only issue sometimes for me is their overly high alcohol & being too fruit centric. But as you mentioned this is often an issue with the lower prices ones from the lower appellations. Cheers and great video!

+1 on the Pinot Blanc and Cab Franc. I love Bordeaux's and GSMs but I find it difficult to justify drinking them without eating a meat heavy meal. The Cab Franc is perfect for light meals. I "discovered" it just last year and have been drinking quite a bit of it. Both the Achaval Ferrer and El Enemigo are excellent. I also tried the Pinot Blanc just recently and it's something I would definitely drink again. Over Christmas, I made cowboy steak and opened my 2010 Margaux. It was my first 20+ year old wine. Gosh! It was an eye-opener. All the descriptors I have heard from you and other MWs about tertiary notes, the tobacco/leather, I finally understood for the first time. Happy New Year Bob!

I couldn't question your comments on the trends, but these four styles of wine are certainly up my alley: Pinot Blanc and Grenache, two workhorses that can stay elegant, I'll be looking for Grenache from Madrid region this year; Gamay, the grape that finally tipped me into the world of wine, clean, playful but also well-mannered; and Cab Franc, one of my all favourites. I tried L'Franc from Proprietà Sperino, and I couldn't get enough of if, although my wallet certainly could. I asked for a "representative, traditional style of" Loire Valley Cab Franc at a prestigious wine shop in Madrid (which shall remain unnamed) and I got a nasty bottle. Green tannins all over the place, thin structure and aroma, overbearing yeasty notes... Unless I'm terribly wrong about the Loire, that wine couldn't possibly be what I had asked for.

Love Alsace pinot blanc; Turkheim co-op, which I have visited, is particularly good value. Cru Beaujolais is just ridiculous value, especially compared with its northern neighbour in the Cote d'Or. @@bobpaulinskimasterofwine7234 I used to organise monthly wine tastings & someone suggested we visit France. Naturally, I was nominated organiser. We didn't know at the time but we were the last sailing of the night across the channel - it was the night of the great storm in 1987. I decided to book a cabin, even for a four hour crossing because I am not the best sailor and the sea was already rough. Better lying down, I thought - the rest were planning to spend all night either in the bar or on deck. Anyway, we were four hours late docking and when I finally got out of the cabin after a sleepless night the rest of the group were various shades of green and looked decidedly under the weather.
We were a further two hours late into Paris on the train: lots of trees had blown down on to the track. We had long missed our connection from Gare d'Austerlitz to Tours (getting the group across Paris from Gare du Nord is another tale in itself). When we arrived at the station there was a train to Tours in five minutes and half the party wanted to jump on it and the other half wanted to eat first. Long story short, we got on the very crowded train and after several headcounts I was relieved to find that we were all on board. The adventures and mishaps continued, like M. Hulot's holidays, but we salvaged a memorable long weekend from it: and those of us still in touch reminisce occasionally. It wasn't until we were in Calais on the return journey that we learned of the full great storm story. The town of Sevenoaks in Kent had become 'One oak,' for example. We all ended up together in Dover, which was a minor miracle in itself, many in various states of inebriation, which is where my duties ended. Never again, I said.

This isn’t exactly related to this vid, however you’re an MW and you engage on your channel so I thought I’d ask.
I’ve been noting corked (tca) wines drunk at home over the last 5 years. Still wines suffer tca, in my sample, at a rate of 7.6%. Méthode champenois wines, however, suffer at a rate of less than 1%. While I realize this isn’t a scientific test, I do find this curious. So my question is in 2 parts: 1) in your experience, is my experience unique? 2) if not, is there a reasonable explanation for my experience? NB: stills have out numbered champenois type wines at about 5:1

    • @bobpaulinskimasterofwine7234

Your rate of 7.6 for still wine is quite high. Are they mostly older wines? Are you sure that the 7.6% is all TCA? Q1) I’ve had a good number of MC wines affected by TCA, probably at the same rate as still wines, although I’ve not tracked the exact percentages Q2) one difference could be the type of closure. Agglomerate corks will have less TCA issues.

Thanks for commenting. Much appreciated. I don’t subscribe or watch any other RUclips wine channels. I actively work in the wine trade and have for forty plus years. I discuss the wines that most capture my interest and those that hopefully bring value to my viewers. It’s inevitable that topics will sometimes overlap with others, but that’s certainly not by plan. Cheers. 🍷

@@bobpaulinskimasterofwine7234 i was more refering (not accusing you by any means) that the professional wine media (for the lack of better name) is not really independent and i hope the internet channels and contents dont go in the same direction....or else wine gets boring. Congrats and keep it going

@@pedroguimaraes7643 Thank you for the follow up comment. You provide a keen observation. On RUclips, many of the larger channels (non-wine) are corporately owned. The messaging aligns with the business objectives. I see a troubling trend, one of RUclips becoming increasingly built on infomercials. Others have become “pay to play” channels. The message is bought and paid. This is a topic with many layers. Cheers!

Tell me, what’s the issue with the camera angle. Thank you.

the angle is from below 45 degrees (laptop)? I have seen this so much during covid. is it a big effort to get the camera (laptop) on a horizontal eye level?

@@maartenslagter3752 Thank you. I’m fairly new to RUclips, about 400,000 views. It’s the first time I’ve received this sort of feedback. Always room for improvement!
