The first time I heard Bonnie sing "Angel" was at my college, Mankato State College in Fall of '72 or Spring of '73. She and John Prine were touring together. This was in the student union in a conference room, less than 50 people sitting on the linoleum floor. Bonnie was about 10 feet in front of me. A lifelong fond memory.

@Denise Philpott Yes, my thoughts exactly. I've seen Bonnie many times and John Prine once. But to have seen them together, when they were just starting out, must have been magical.

I love Bonnie Raitt. What a great song. Yeah, I know who wrote it but she owns it in my opinion. I'm a guitar enthusiast. I don't play that well and love classic rock. Grew up in the sixties. Had to listen to country music because of my dad. Bonnie can really play the guitar and her voice is like an angel from heaven.

She was incredible when she was younger, but there’s something actually more incredible about her singing and playing this song now, with her lived-in vocal control, her solid stage command, the heartbreak in her eyes, the conviction that hits so hard with her opening words “I am an old woman…” It’s like she’d been practicing for 30 years to get to today.
