@@xHuntedGunzPCGx They definitely can! That being said, in my opinion, it’s difficult for groups of people to encapsulate personal experiences with the same level of emotion.
For example... take Hurricane Katrina. A person or group of people from New Orleans that lived through the catastrophe would likely be able to write a more impactful song regarding the devastation compared to a group of people on the outside looking in. However, that doesn’t mean that a collection of writers from various walks of life can’t create powerful lyrics as well!

Bonnie was writing music before I (and many of you) was born and put out her first album FIFTY years ago. She is 73 years old and can teach many of those in the room that night a thing or two. She has THIRTEEN Grammys and has been nominated over 30 times! She is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has a STAR on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (on Vine!) has a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, has been named in Rolling Stones 100 Greatest Singers of all time AND 100 Greatest Guitar Players of all time, and the list goes ON AND ON. So just because your pet du jour didn't "win" don't be hating. Most weren't even born when she put out her fourth album. BTW, have you listened to the SONG and the WORDS she won for? Life didn't begin the moment YOU walked into the room, so sit down.

A REAL song - with REAL lyrics - by a REAL singer, REAL musician - no gimmickry. Just love her - ever since I first heard her in 1963 ("Give It Up Or Let Me Go).

When the nominees were announced, I turned to my husband and said, "It will be Bonnie Raitt". So wonderful that she and this song won. Well done, Bonnie.

Well done Bonnie Raitt. A true legend. I love Beyoncé too so don’t gripe about her not winning. Bonnie has a depth and breadth to her career that makes her worthy of this award. Beyoncé is going to be the same one day.

Beyonce has won enough awards to decorate her living room walls. She wont mind she has missed out to Bonnie as she is a gracious lady

Bouncee will never be like Bonnie. She can’t play or sing the BluES, she have not played with many of the greats of blues and Rock n roll.
