    Used Deep Sky Dad’s attachment for EAF Advanced mounted beneath WO Red Cat 51mm. Everything functional. Good to go! Good tutorial. TY.

    Hey Mr Turbo, Great to see a fellow Aussie on the tube teaching us noobies, appreciated by all I'm sure. Question if I may. How do you work out the motor steps? Trial and error? I have an ED80 however it does not come with incremental makings like yours. My ED80 is new and I have found the cut out level guide on the bottom of the focus tube is misaligned by about 10mm. By the time I realized what was happening (making an awful screeching sound) it had marked the focus tube pretty bad. Not a show stopper but very disappointed to have an issue like this with a new scope.

      Motor steps are fully manually worked out. Rake the focuser all the way in. Reset the EAF to zero. Drive it OUTall the way (measure it first with a ruler if you're worried you'll go too far, but if you're quick, it's not going to damage anything - or just mark it with some liquid paper or a sharpie at the all the way out position before you start). Record the new number - then take a bit off to give you some headroom. Go back to all the way in, come out a little bit to avoid the hard stop, reset to zero, and you're all good. Not sure what you mean by 'cut out level guide'. If you've purchased this from a retail outlet, I'd take it back and have them take a look at it. When I got my scope (like 12 years ago), it had a rack & pinion focuser. It was pretty ordinary. I upgraded to a dual speed crayford focuser, but with the EAF, I'd probably be OK with the original, factoring in backlash of the R&P setup.

      @@TurboTalksTech Cheers mate for a quick reply. Yeah... it's hard to explain, bottom line is the the focus tube is out of alignment. I'm in the NT so I'll have a crack at getting it sorted, cause if I have to send it south, have it repaired and returned, I'm looking at a month minimum. Bugger that.......I'm really keen to get it pointing UP!

      @@Chris_NGC6188Ara Really hard to understand the misalignment issue - have you make sure all the adjusting screws (tensioning screw, locking screw) are all undone. You should be able to take it apart pretty readily - the focuser end is not super precise!. Jump on iceinspace.com.au forums. Lots of people can assist there, plus you can upload some images so we can get an idea of what your issue is.

      @@TurboTalksTech Update 2021: I found a vid that may explain what my problem was. ruclips.net/video/ofOSAMlqZWw/видео.html . It worked for a while, however after some use, I have lost heart with the junk setup. As the old saying goes, I'm only putting lipstick on a pig. So I have now got (on the way) the same focuser you have, the GSO model tho. I'm a fair way from anywhere and was wondering if you remember the replacement screws specs? The ones you used to fasten the L-bracket. By the looks of your vid they will be a must have to make mounting the EAF. I've sent a few emails out asking and have not had any answers yet. I'll try cloudy nights and Ice and space as well. Hope your weather is improving down your way mate, I still have till the middle of April at best before I can setup.

    I tried my handset but doesn’t work

      Is there a particular software that will only work with what handset or can you literally use it as a standalone. I did download the drivers from the website only even when I had it was connected to sequence generate pro however the handset did not work. also it comes with a temperature cable but am I right to believe that you need to keep taking the handset cable off and put in back in the temperature gauge after each use.

      Try pushing the cable all the way in. I found with mine, my initial try, it didn’t quite go in all the way (about half a mm short). Also, try switching around which end of the cable you plug in. I don’t think you need to have the drivers installed to use the handset. Why can’t you test it with ASICAP on the ZWO website?

      Turbo Talks Tech thanks will try it. What power do you use amp wise

    • @TurboTalksTech
      @TurboTalksTech  5 лет назад

      It only requires 12V 0.5A - however, the one I used during testing was 12V 5A (the one I use for the ASI1600MM Cooler), however, the one I am using with it right now is 12V 2A, just because I had it lying around.

      It comes in the box with it - if you didn't get it, hit up ZWO support.
