    There have been handfuls of questions asked on our Adidas Powerlift 4 and Adidas Power Perfect 3 reviews about their differences and similarities.
    Most of the questions fall along the lines of, "Which shoe is the best?" The answer to this - like with most questions in the fitness industry is - it depends.
    Both of these models are excellent, cost-efficient shoes and have subtle differences between them, so the real question should be, "Do the differences really matter?"

    CONSTRUCTION DIFFERENCES
    Below are a few of the construction differences between the Adidas Powerlift 4 and the Power Perfect 3.
    1. Slight Heel Height Difference
    Powerlift 4: .6"
    Power Perfect 3: .75"
    2. Strap Placement
    Powerlift 4: Slightly lower
    Power Perfect 3: Higher on the mid-foot
    3. Mid-Foot Construction
    Powerlift 4: Traditional construction & lacing
    Power Perfect 3: Derby style lacing
    For most recreational lifters, these subtle construction differences don't really matter when it comes to performance. For example, a slight difference in heel height and strap placement isn't going to cause a major shift in overall lifting performance.
    Now, there are a few cases when these subtle differences might matter, but again, this will be a for a very finite part of the lifting population.
    EXAMPLE SCENARIOS
    If you're a weightlifter and want a slightly higher heel that is also similar to what other weightlifting shoes offer for an easier transition down the road to different models, then reach for the Power Perfect 3.
    If you're brand new to elevated heels and have been lifting in flats, or tennis shoes, then the lower heel height of the Powerlift 4 could be beneficial - simply to ease the transitional period.
    Outside of these scenarios, don't stress the tiny construction differences too much. After all, a lifting shoe is only one part of the bigger picture of becoming great at lifting and a specific strength sport.
    If you like a model and it fits your budget, then opt for that model and stop overthinking small details!

      Adidas may have some in stock. However, they just launched the brand new Adipower 2s, which are designed for women (they have a cast for women, as opposed to being the same shoe made unisex!). - Jake

      Weightlifting and/or static lifting. You should not be moving in these, unless to adjust at the top of the movement.

    My wife (they know everything 😜) says the Power Lift 4 will force my squats, dead lifts, etc to be more quad-dominant due to heal lift.
    True? Y'all chime in and explain.

    • @Barbend
      @Barbend  5 лет назад +6

      Yes and no. Any shift forward will cause a squat to be more quad dominant, but there's more to it than simply lifting the heels.
      The simple answer is yes, more than likely your quads will be a bit more in use with an elevated heel. However, your squat style and leverages will also play a role in this equation. If the goal is simply to target quads more, there are other means to do so without relying on an elevated heel. - Jake

    • @justascott
      @justascott 5 лет назад +1

      @@Barbend thanks Jake for the quick response. I am not looking to be more quad dominant I need more activation of glutes while doing those compound exercises. Should I skip the shoes because of that?

    • @Barbend
      @Barbend  5 лет назад

      @@justascott I wouldn't say skip them, but I would advise that you use them objectively. At the end of the day, if you're not getting the glutes involved in the squat, that's a mechanical/technique issue and shoes won't remedy it by themselves! Plus, even if they [the shoes] did fix the problem, I would be worrisome that you didn't actually fix a form issue.
      My advice: Before your next squat day, work hip/ankle mobility, then do a warm-up protocol with something like 3x20 banded monster walks, 2x25 glute bridges with holds, and during your barbell warm-up sets, focus on contracting the glutes at the top and maintaining a strong hip angle throughout the movement (be mindful of avoiding excessive anterior pelvic tilt).
      If you're shooting the hips too far back, or coming up onto the toes, then it makes sense why the glutes may not be as active than you'd like. - Jake

    can you do a review on Adidas adipower 2 which is released several days ago ?

    • @Barbend
      @Barbend  5 лет назад +4

      Yes! It's on its way. I can only review and test so many shoes at once to avoid letting quality of tests slip! Plus, ya man needs to recover between shoe tests, so it takes a few weeks to fully get through a shoe model. - Jake
