I just bought both of the shoes, I'll try one by one for 1 week and then decide which ones I'll keep, if u post this video couple day earlier will be better for me =)
@@Barbend I Think i'll choose Power Perfect 3, they are tighter and stiffer, for me 20$ more is not the problem, although the heel feel a litter bit different when I was DL, I just change from the normal sneaker
@@HaTran-bc1ly That's good that you gravitate one you prefer! Yeah, man, I would not recommend deadlifting in any heeled weightlifting shoe. No need to add extra range of motion. Happy you found a pair you like. - Jake
@@Barbend So if i'm looking for a pair of shoes for both squats and deadlifts, then would you recommend the powerlift 4 as heel height is lower? Thanks.
Hi dude, i want to buy my 1st weightlifting shoes, do you think powerlifts 4 will be better for low bar squatting? (I want them just for squat and do powerlifting) what do you recommend me? Thanks;)
Adidas may have some in stock. However, they just launched the brand new Adipower 2s, which are designed for women (they have a cast for women, as opposed to being the same shoe made unisex!). - Jake
Yes! It's on its way. I can only review and test so many shoes at once to avoid letting quality of tests slip! Plus, ya man needs to recover between shoe tests, so it takes a few weeks to fully get through a shoe model. - Jake
Tried powerlift 5 and power perfect 3 went for pp 3 strap quality more robust design more stability i come from old school squat shoes ~15mm seemed also that powerlift 5 size 44 said unisex on the lable while ppt was for males
My wife (they know everything 😜) says the Power Lift 4 will force my squats, dead lifts, etc to be more quad-dominant due to heal lift. True? Y'all chime in and explain.
Yes and no. Any shift forward will cause a squat to be more quad dominant, but there's more to it than simply lifting the heels. The simple answer is yes, more than likely your quads will be a bit more in use with an elevated heel. However, your squat style and leverages will also play a role in this equation. If the goal is simply to target quads more, there are other means to do so without relying on an elevated heel. - Jake
@@Barbend thanks Jake for the quick response. I am not looking to be more quad dominant I need more activation of glutes while doing those compound exercises. Should I skip the shoes because of that?
@@justascott I wouldn't say skip them, but I would advise that you use them objectively. At the end of the day, if you're not getting the glutes involved in the squat, that's a mechanical/technique issue and shoes won't remedy it by themselves! Plus, even if they [the shoes] did fix the problem, I would be worrisome that you didn't actually fix a form issue. My advice: Before your next squat day, work hip/ankle mobility, then do a warm-up protocol with something like 3x20 banded monster walks, 2x25 glute bridges with holds, and during your barbell warm-up sets, focus on contracting the glutes at the top and maintaining a strong hip angle throughout the movement (be mindful of avoiding excessive anterior pelvic tilt). If you're shooting the hips too far back, or coming up onto the toes, then it makes sense why the glutes may not be as active than you'd like. - Jake
I love how straight forward you are. Thank you . What about sambas for a recreation lifter? I am having a hard time activating my glutes
This is such a cool video. Really helpful. I have watched some of your review videos so far, every video is great. Keep up good stuffs pal
What about Adipower? What's the main differences?
solid video, thank you for the clear and concise video
Thank you! - Jake
Does the canvas on powerlift 4 stretch on toe end? I'm over by about 4mm on right foot and don't want to up my size. Thanks in advance 🙂
Can I use them for the wod too or only on weight lifting strength???
Weightlifting and/or static lifting. You should not be moving in these, unless to adjust at the top of the movement.
