The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is a huge hit and it’s already making its two leads into two of the most complex and interesting characters in the MCU. Man these Disney+ TV shows were a great idea weren’t they? What they’ve done for both Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson in just a few episodes is better than any movie appearance. I’m starting to think all MCU projects should just be TV shows now!
But anyways, Episode 2 of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, finally saw the two leads meet up and start kicking butt. But there was an interesting callback to Bucky’s past, specifically with his time in Wakanda. He mentions how he went by the White Wolf and that immediately opened the door for further speculation. In Avengers: Infinity War, T’Challa called Bucky the White Wolf, seemingly setting up a new storyline for the former Winter Soldier, but that was soon dropped. Could we see Bucky actually return to Wakanda in the future to take up the White Wolf moniker again? It actually seems like a pretty good possibility! But just who exactly is The White Wolf in the comics? Would you believe White Wolf is actually the name of one of Black Panther’s biggest enemies? Once you know the backstory, the whole picture becomes much clearer!

Yes, yes I do. Mainly because he can't be called The Winter Soldier due to it's Soviet roots and calling him Bucky is kind of lame. Be awesome to see Bucky become the White Wolf.

I’ve been saying this for the longest lol. Technically speaking, Bucky was never The Winter Soldier so him using that as his codename never made sense to me, even in the comics, but the MCU gives him the chance to completely abandon that name. Both codenames were ones that were chosen by other people but “White Wolf” was one that was made for the real him, not the persona that was created through torture and hypnosis. Also, Bucky was a member of the Howling Commandos during WW2 in the MCU so him finally deciding to embrace that codename would kinda be a callback to that.

I think it's definitely possible. Look how loyal Bucky is to his true friends (minus the hydra brainwashing), he might hear of T' Challa's death and go back to Wakanda to be it's protector. He doesn't need the heart shaped herb to become powerful, he's already a super soilder.

If Shuri becomes the new black panther, you can still have the narrative with the white wolf. She actually helped Bucky, so she is more connected to him than T'Challa.
That actually makes a lot of sense. It would be cool to see him in a White Wolf suit that functions like the Black Panther suit.

This is what I want to see. Shuri become the black panther and Bucky get a suit and help her out on missions. I remember how awesome the dynamic was of seeing Cap and Black Widow in Captain America 2. I want to see something like that.
@@mayankraj1424 They’ve already said they’re not going to recast the character of T’challa. In fact, they mention that in this video.
Shuri was Black Panther in the comics for a time, so there’s no reason why she couldn’t pick up the mantle in the MCU...other than the people who keep whining that they’re ‘pandering to minorities’ and the PC crowd when they’re actually just being reasonably true to the source material. 🙄
It’s too soon to make Shuri black panther, we havnt even seen her in combat. I also do not want black panther 2 to be focused on her becoming black panther. Maybe black panther 3 she can become black panther but not right now.

@DisDatSplahhh H I mean he lost is parents in a tragic accident, was adopted by the king of another nation but faced regular discrimination due to being the ONLY white person in an African Nation, which we've seen is pretty nationalistic, yet was always grateful to his adoptive family and simply wanted to help them out.
Dude doesn't have mood swings he has a nice combination of PTSD, Trauma and an Inferiority Complex brought on by years of mistreatment.

Fun fact: now, idk if this was intended, probably isn’t bc Bucky’s character isn’t Romanian, but in Romania there’s a legend of the white wolf. He was a king who was loved greatly by his people, he was kind and just, and he ruled amazingly. When he died, the people mourned his death and worshipped him, because this was the loss of a great king. A god or goddess (I forgot which) approached the king’s spirit and offered him the opportunity to stay on earth and watch over his kingdom for eternity to come. He agreed, and was turned into an immortal white wolf, large and graceful. The myth says that he still roams the forest around the ruins of his castle/kingdom, watching over and keeping the peace spiritually. :)

Bucky's character development has been great. Definitely becoming one of my favorite characters of the MCU. Striving to overcome a dark past and one's inner demons and yet channeling that strength and power into something good resonates deeply.

I don't think Bucky is interesting enough to have his own stand alone movie. Just like Sam he needs someone to bounce off of. I think Bucky is a great character don't get me wrong but I don't think he has a ways to go before he can have a standalone series/movie
@@KaisTestKitchen1 I feel his arc was simmered down in the movies in the later stages for some reason because in all the 3 captain america movies there was atleast one scene where bucky holds the shield.They had always teased the idea of him being next Cap and he played large chunks in the cap movies.But now I guess marvel has changed their ideas about Bucky.

That was only one reference and alot of people talked about it, But the way bucky said : "It's white wolf", practically confirmes he's going to take on a mantle as white wolf in black panther 2, And the MCU have inverted slot of characters before.

@@mah5262 Good observation since T'Challa said it. I think it also matters that Bucky referred to himself as "White Wolf." What that means, I don't know yet. Maybe, right now, only Wakanda knows and I'm okay with that.

Killmonger origin is different in the comic books, unlike the movie outside world knew about Wakanda. Completely different.

We already have him as Bucky Barnes, then The Winter Soldier, being teased for his White Wolf. There’s an entire worth of stories span 80 years of him just being The Winter Soldier ALONE that could work as a whole standalone show.
Bucky Barnes is easily one of the most interesting character in the MCU along with Wanda. The possibilities is basically endless!

Sebastian Stan has actually been in these movies for so long though, lol, especially considering he's always played more of a supporting role. I do think it would be really cool if he were in Black Panther 2.

That would be awesome but I believe it should be for Black Panther III because Black Panther II might be about Wakanda vs Atlantis (idk, I just saw that on the internet) & since Chadwick Bozeman died (rip) it would have to be about the next in line of the heir to the throne: Princess Shuri. Then maybe at the end of Black Panther II Shuri could be like: “I know a guy...The White Wolf.” because maybe Shuri is not ready to be queen cause she’s so young. So she would call out to Buckey promoting to be king of Wakanda... (This is based on my opinion).
Namor is much stronger than them. He is atleast Cap Marvel, Thor (in his best form) tier.
Black Panther has fought Namor 1on1 many times in the comics. He's usually strapped up with more weapons than you have seen in the MCU. Je doesn't need everyone's help to beat Namor since he has beat him fair and square before. Although Namor is no Joke but Panther has a lot more tricks up his sleeves.
Here's something to consider.
In the two episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, some aspect of this concept was mentioned. In the first episode, Bucky mentions Wakanda by name. In the next episode, Bucky corrects Sam about his nickname, saying it was White Wolf.
Moreover, it's implied heavily thus far that Sam will take Sam the mantle. If Bucky will not, he has options. And considering he appreciated his time in Wakanda more than anywhere else, it might prove likely that he returns to Wakanda after the events of the show for BP2.
What about this. What if, to honor Chadwick, Black Panther is legit deceased in the MCU. Don't know how or why, but I'm sure they could come up with something. What if Bucky returns to give his condolences, some villain is on the loose, and Shuri feels pressure to take up the mantle? Bucky could be a supportive role for her, taking on the mantle of White Wolf.
I would like to see, that bucky discovers that his arm is nanotechnology and it expands into a suit of armour.
I think the mcu doesn’t want to bring that villain in their universe but they want bring in that name somehow so they just gave it to Bucky

I just saw this morning that the creators of the show said they're most excited for episode 5 because a certain character will make an appearance. They said they can guarantee there will be crying for all of the viewers. I think Chadwick probably filmed a surprise cameo for this show before his passing. Maybe T'Challa or Shuri get Bucky a suit.

I have a feeling he won't be full "White Wolf" but just a sort of nod to the character similar to what the MCU did with Steve Rogers' as "Nomad" and Clint Barton as "Ronin". But I would love it if they fully embraced the White Wolf mantle, as long as they don't turn him into a villain again.
@@JWonn and that's what I'm thinking is going to happen. I think either bucky will not want to follow the winter soldier moniker anymore due to the trauma that came with it. And to identify as a new man apart from shield or hydra. And he'll become the white wolf.

They can incorporate that via flashbacks -- like they did in ep. 1 of TFATWS -- in whatever new storyline they put him in. I want to see that too. As well as some damn acknowledgement and addressing of what a victim he was; not just that he needed to make amends to those "he" wronged when he was brainwashed.

The recently announced Wakanda series would be a good place to give us some White Wolf content. If he now considers Shuri like a sister then him going there to help her would make sense.

I kept trying to tell people about that scene with Bucky in wakanda while everyone was like “why can’t Bucky be captain America 😩” but literally no one was listening. Glad the name was mentioned again, hopefully it made them realize what marvel was trying to do with Bucky
It would be nice if they revealed later on the reason that Bucky is called the White Wolf is because t'chala was raised with a white kid named Hunter in the MCU but later died because of the bad things he did, but was still t'challa 's best friend/brother and the white wolf, which is why t'challa gave that name to Bucky.

From my personal opinion I think the same.White wolf maybe is dead and T'challa gave it to Bucky as a sign of respect.Maybe the White Wolf will appear in future movies.I don't believe that Bucky will take the White Wolf mantle. It would be awesome of course seeing Barnes as White Wolf. They are separate characters even in comics.I think would be a better idea introducing the hunter instead of Bucky as the White Wolf.We need some new faces and backstories. It's like giving Tony Stark a new mantle and calling him anything else. It's like Bucky will become a copycat instead something original wich is its own thing. Based on the White Wolf comics back story and Bucky's fondness for Wakanda, Bucky may likely return to Wakanda by the end of the series (which I've suspected all along). Life for him in Wakanda was far less complicated and the people there don't know his dark past. Plus, given that Shuri will more than likely take up the Black Panther moniker in the next Black Panther movie, maybe he'll become her right-hand man. Not that he'd take the title of General away from Okoye, but he'd definitely do whatever it took to fight for her and his new home.
@@aricaj.3006 NYC and the US in general offer way too many triggers for him. It makes no sense for him to stay. Besides, people still want to see Bucky become Captain America. He doesn't want that responsibility? He was probably glad Steve gave the shield to Sam and not him. He's probably thinking, 'I ain't doing that. I'm just now getting my mind right.'
Idk about Shuri being BP, they can be challenged in a trial by combat do you think Suri could beat Mbaku or Okoye? I think she's perfect as the head of science since whe's probably the smartest person in the world in the MCU.
@@francargeric1 Granted, she's not a fighter and, at her current skill level, M'Baku could take her out in seconds. And, given his comments about her in the 1st movie, he doesn't have a lot of respect for her because she's 'a child who scoffs at traditions.' But, let's not forget that Shuri DID become Black Panther in the comics.
If they do the story right, the first part of the movie could be about her proving herself as a good leader and valiant warrior. At the Challenge Ceremony, each individual ruler has an opportunity to voluntarily challenge for the mantle of Black Panther. If by the end of the movie she comes to gain a deeper love and appreciation for Wakandan culture and traditions, she will likely win M'Baku's respect and he won't challenge her.
Same with Bucky. He would need to prove that, although he's not a born Wakandan, he has accepted Wakanda as his new home and will fight to protect it.
They probably will have Bucky in the White Wolf role, the Shuri character can’t sell the Black Panther 2 film as the sole “panther” or whatever

Im a little confused about that. The royal family didnt exist for 5 years. No country goes without a leader for 5 years. So Wakanda wouldve had a new King/Queen before End game. And possibly a new Black Panther.

In the cartoon canon, White Wolf starts as a villain, then becomes a hero, same as Bucky Barns.
Theres 12 vials of super soldier serum left. Somehow Sam is going to accidentally get injected with one and then go on to become Captain America
If he does get injected, it would negate steve's reason of choosing sam. Sam is a good man, which is what capt america is at core. For stece, thats a rare thing to find in people, and therefore it should be enough to makr someone qualified
@@samuelyordan1088 Steve was qualified before being a super soldier. I think it's about the person you were b4 the 💉. But is sam still going to have his wings with the shields? If there's no wings and there's a shield I don't think he can handle what's to come without the serum.

The entire show FATWS was about him accepting himself as the Winter Soldier. So I think we will still see him as the winter soldier for a little while, at least until Wakanda calls on him. Then someone probably Shiri or Ayo would tell him he’s accepted himself and it’s time to move past that and take a new identity. Then probably giving him a White Wolf outfit
No, he's making amends for what the Winter Soldier did. In the last episode he's called Sergeant Barnes, and the Dora Milaje called him the White Wolf. He's not the Winter Soldier anymore.
@@annaroche his conversation with nagashima had all the answers. He literal says “your son was killed by the Winter Soldier, and that was me.” He was making amends. But he had to accept himself for what he was and is, before he could become something new. That’s why they drop the name White Wolf but didn’t change his name in the title crawl at the end. It’s hints at the future(possibly) but he hasn’t become that yet. Even in the comics he accepts himself being the Winter Soldier and continues to use the name. It’s part of who he is. That’s what the series is about. Maybe the next project he’s in will show him evolving into the White Wolf.

Maybe Bucky was found by King T'Chaka and given the name Hunter due to Bucky's memory loss after the plane crash. It makes sense to give a familiar face the White Wolf role
I like what they're doing giving them time as a side character then a main really helps progress the story along nicely

Not sure and wasnt the idea of recasting Chadwick dropped so if they decide to add their adopted brother he might become the new black panther seeing as the Bucky will become The White Wolf

@@trexadvent4726 well 1 he cant be the white wolf 2 They arent ganna replace Chadwick Bosemen so... 3 I dont think Shuri Would want to be Black Panther and 4 Its the MCU so it rly depends And now that I think of it he wont rly have to go through the ritual to become black panther cause there arent any herbs anymore so he would just need the suit and for the abilities I think he would have the same as T'Challa but like .5 weaker or stronger cause thats what they did with U.S.Agent and tbh I dont think they would add the character this late since the next b.p movie will focus on Wakanda and their people since They will never replace Chadwick so... Kinda be Bucky unknowingly realised that the white vibranium suit is actually within his vibranium arm (just like how T'Challa suit is a just a necklace). I felt that is kind of logical and make sense for the flow of story as White wolf is keep mentioning throughout the series and also prep for BP2. For the Thor part, Thor can literally work with anyone as you can see in Thor Ragnarok (he work with a talking rock, Korg) and Infinity War (Rocket and Groot). But it is just a theory of mine which I think is kinda cool to see it on screen.
I'd totally be done if after the Falcon and Winter Solider if Bucky shows up in Black Panther 2 as White Wolf

If BlackPanther&Killmonger can transform their necklace into a full combat suit, then a full arm would be more than enough to be a full combat suit. Also Agent Coulson had a deployable force field that can be shaped into what he want like a circular shield. It's not that difficult to put that into Bucky's robotic arm.

The White Wolf is T'Challa and Shuri's adoptive brother Hunter! They need to get Hunter out of the woods incorporate him into the story and leave Buckey as Buckey . Because people wanna see what they read from the comics or animated series come to life on the Big screen!

MCU already missed their opportunity it's too late. The implications far too much as it only puts T-Chaka character in a far worse light, he left his own nephew in the US but was willing to raise a complete stranger in Wakanda whose happens to also be of white descent. This is why I never liked Killmonger origin in the 2018 movie in the first place.

Stan does very well portraying Bucky , & the writers/studio have done very well adjusting the stories/characterization too. Prob 1 of the best characters in the MCU currently , & now starring in a show with Sam Wilson , who potentially could be on par with Bucky as a character & is played by an actor who is super-driven & super-grateful in Mr. Mackie ... Kudos all around to all those involved with FALCON & THE WINTER SOLDIER show & the development of the 2 title characters !!! Thank you for making this video !!!
